I find weed barrier is my best hope. I also discovered that composted manure is very weedy. It says no weeds on the bag, but they lie. Last year I planted a new cucumber bed and they got really big and looked good, but they were bitter. This spring that same bed had grass up to my knees and a ton of weeds. Never again with the manure. I changed everything over to raised beds, so it will be much easier to weed.😊
We are hoping so! And that is exactly how we got into our weedy mess. Was given free composted manure and soil mix and it was filled with weeds! We should have started with good soil to begin with, oh well can't go back and lesson learned. Good luck with your garden this year!
At the end of growing season, cover in a thick layer of mulch, cardboard and weed fabric and when its garden season again hopefully weed pressure will be reduced due to darkness, for a long period of time. Really big holes in weed barrier around tomatoes. More space means more area you have to hand weed. Grand Blessings everyone
