Pretty legit features. Like you, I probably wouldn't use it to park, but it would be super useful to pull the car in and out of the garage. I was nervous for your rims the whole time, haha. I'm curious how close to the curb the car is programmed to park. Would be cool if you could set the distance from the curb to account for different parking situations or to account for aftermarket wheels. Liking the content, keep it coming bro!
At a press event, I had a Volvo not see a red painted curb and it climbed right onto it lol. When I had the EV6, I also just used the back and forth option to squeeze get it in and out of my driveway lol.
I started using the remote to move forward and backward a lot on my ioniq 5. It's way better than sitting the car to move it IMO. And it puts smile on the poeple seeing it.
I haven't used it on tesla but I assumed it would be better. I'm surprised. Plus my new video uploaded today shows these same tests but with better results.
I hope KIA will improve the smart parking asist feature with future updates. Meanwhile I think that the option of move forward/backward the car in case of narrow paking places is the much more useful.
Thanks for testing it out, now I don't have to risk my rims :) Looks like your curb is angled slightly away from the car? I wish my curbs were like that. Nice video, keep it up!
Yeah thats what I think saved my wheels but also maybe confused the sensors. I'm going to do a video today of the car trying to get into a tighter space.
Yeah I think so. The sensors are good and i guess they're being overly cautious. I did just upload my new testing done today. Much better results. Not sure why
I have a BMW 330e, 2020 model, but in that car the problem is the opposite. The car is far too fast for my taste, and slowing it down with the brake, while possible, it is difficult because the car is very "trigger happy" so if it senses too hard pressure on the pedal then it will abort the parking attempt. It seems that they slowed it down in the i4, which will be my next car, so maybe it's safer and more useful. Anyway, the videos I have seen from the i4 shows a much faster, more accurate parking than the EV6.
Most likely you curb the wheels because your tires/rims are wider than the OEM ones. Would be interesting to see this same test with stock wheels and tires.
My tires are the same size as the OEM 20 inch tires. My wheels do stick out probably about an inch more than OEM wheels but this was severely worse and I don't think the wheel size is really to account for how much it overshot the turns. But it did really well in the second video so who knows?
...but that space is HUGE... ...but why do you have such wide and ugly tires...? They are causing you problems since they are not standard and not approved by Kia.
@@Emadifications I certainly hope you like those tires, but they are definitely wider than ordinary. Anyway, my wife just ordered an EV6 so I was just looking around for what that car can do. I read the specs, but when test driving, we didn't test the auto parking feature, so I wanted to see how well it works. Your video was the first one demonstrating a serious issue, and I am convinced it is due to your tires. But it seems that you have done other modifications to your car also, which also can have negative effects on certain functions.
Watch my second video. It works well, and tires didn't have anything to do with the sensors. The tires are stock but my offset is aggressive so yes. My wheels stick out more but the difference is barely the reason for this performance. Take from it what you want. Don't get aggressive wheels or tires. I never use this parking feature. So to me the looks of the wheels and tires is more important than the parking feature.
@@Emadifications I watched the second video also. It seems that the auto parking works with mixed results. Some times fails consistently, like in this video, some times good, as in your next video, some times not acceptable (too far out) which is also in your next video. I have a BMW 330e to compare with today, and that car never fails. The only problem with it is that it parks too fast (literally) which I find a bit scary, so I don't use the feature. Anyway, I will have the EV6 and a BMW i4 in a year time, I will see if the BMW is the same as mine, or improved. Hopefully the EV6 will get some improvements by that time also, because if your video is representative then the feature is pretty useless.
I assume there's multiple factors it's looking at. I am actually going to do a follow up and do a v3 and see how things go. Maybe change the configuration a bit.
@@Emadifications This isn't a great test though. Real world the space is going to be tighter in most situations. I get why you had the wider spaces but it's not still not helping us know if the thing can handle a space as long as a normal parallel parking spot.

I use it in my garage and while washing a lot. Haven't used it in public much but may start!

Better than Tesla's self-parking feature, which struggles to even put it between two lines in a regular parking lot.

I agree. I find myself using that more than I expected. But as mentioned, mostly while washing the car or pulling it out of my garage.

Very bad smart parking from Kia
I'm not sure why the inconsistency in performance. Sometimes it was very good.
