Hi David, it's good to "see" you again after many years. I actually had a chance to interview and write about you for Omaha Magazine way back in the '90s and I still have my trusty ol' (somewhat beat up) copy of the VHS you filmed in Hawaii back then. Your simultaneous "rebel spirit" and love of history continue to coincide with mine. Efforts to "pick up where I left off" with other instructors have failed, probably because they lack your "rebel spirit." It feels good to "find" you again here on YT and I look forward to studying with you and reconstructing my Tai Chi form, step by step after a long layoff. As an old school Beatle fan, I will remember your new title by intoning the familiar White Album mantra: "Number 9, number 9, number 9 . . ." Thank you for being here. See you around the galaxy.
This a great routine. I learned it from a dvd you had done a while back. I show it to my fellow construction workers sometimes, as a morning warm up. We just don't step for the cloud hands due to room size. Thank you. Every morning it gets me started.
Fantastic! Thank you David Dorian for doing this. I was introduced to you some several months ago through one of your DVD through the great lessons courses. I don't have it in front of me right now but you were teaching the 24 step routine. It has changed my life!
I love this routine too, and actually followed you all the way through without stopping and rewinding the video. Looking forward to all the new lesson series. (I also loved the music you selected here too!). Thank you, David-Dorian.
I like this, it hits many of the most basic movements so I think it would be great for beginners and/or as a warm-up. It's also great because it can be done in a confined space (such as my office lol). I've been looking for a good introductory form to teach my kids (8 & 10 yrs old) that's not so long and complex that they lose interest....this is perfect! Thank you for sharing!
I love this routine, use it daily as my starting point for my tai chi. I have tried it in a private place at work and while I now remember all the moves and the sequence, I'm not certain that I have all the "transitional" moves memorized. Should I be concerned about getting those moves "right" when I can't watch the video while doing it or just be more focused on the flow?
Hi David, I just found your TaiiiFit channel this week and love your teaching style! I watched this "Tai Chi for Beginners BEST - Beginner's Tai Chi Routine" from 2/5/2018 and you mention a series to follow to learn the forms in this particular routine. I would love to know what the videos are named so I can access them here on your RUclips channel. I recently received a teaching certification in Rehabilitation Tai Chi and have been wanting to learn more forms and flows and out of all the youtube videos on Tai Chi I have been perusing, I love your style of teaching the best!! I believe I can learn a lot from you. Thanks!
Your form is beautiful, and it's clear you've been a teacher for a long time. I enjoyed watching you! Pardon me for saying so, but the music was a little off-putting, and didn't go with your water-like movements.

Tommy - I LOVE the idea that you might teach this to your kids! My youngest is 9, and she does Tai Chi with me (on those days when she still thinks I'm cool)
Oh wow i just bought your course on the great courses and it's uh-mazinggg! the backview camera, the philosophy lessons which you can summarize muuuch more clearly than all these crazy old books i'm reading haha. (here to look for stuff to practice haha). Well cheers, thank you for the teachings~
This is 99% equel to Guosheng Li's "How to learn 8 taichi forms" videos on You Tube. But I like your routine. Because he has added breathing system to it. I was breathless when I practis as his breathing pattern. Thank you!
We had a bunch of starts and stops to this series - but we finally filmed the whole thing in 8 episodes. We just got done with the edits, and we'll be publishing it soon! Thanks for following up - and thank you for your patience!
Just a suggestion.. but for those just starting.. would it be a good idea to possibly label each move.. I know a while back I when first starting, I googled the names of the moves I came up with so many different names.. however, I felt that I was going to follow you, so the names that you use were the ones I should go by... eliminates so much confusion at least for me.. Just a suggestion.. is all.. :) I have heard it grasping the peacocks tail, the sparrows tail, wild bird tail.. and yes they are all birds..but one might think.. are they different types of names.. Enjoy your day!
I'll go with 9 Form also: 1 opening the door 2 repulsing the monkey 3 brush knee 4 parting the horses mane 5 wave hands like clouds 6 rooster stands on one leg 7 kick 8 grasping the birds tail 9 closing the door
If you count cross hands and apparent closing as one move then yes 9, but in 103 weren't they 2? 9 or 10 I like the form, if it had a whip and a snake it'd be perfect. Cheers DDR.
You are right on the money! Tai Chi has typically been learned through pre-designed and "official" routines, known as "forms." That's how I taught Tai Chi for many years. But I saw what you saw - even the shortest routine are not a great place to start beginners. So I changed the way I teach beginners - and that was the origin of TaijiFit - what you'll see on this channel as "follow-me Tai Chi." But at some point after beginning, one might say "Hey I'd like to learn one of those routines. Which one do I start with? This video is my recommendation for the best "first" beginners routine. But first, try TaijiFit Flow.
Somehow I counted 8 forms, not including the Opening and Closing. 1 Reverse Reeling; 2 Brush Knee; 3 Part the Horse; 4 Cloud Hands; 5 Rooster; 6 Heel Kick; 7 Peacock; 8 Cross Hands.
I uploaded a video of me practicing this form, I would love your feedback! I miss your videoa, hope the renovations in the studio goes well and that everything is good with you and your family! ruclips.net/video/9qzZcexRy8M/видео.html

Your timing couldn’t have been better. We are in our 4th week of class working on the 9-Form. What a great resource. Thanks.
1st TaiChi for me. I really enjoyed it :)
Glad to be a subscriber. We miss you on the Roku Great Courses.
I love this routine too, and actually followed you all the way through without stopping and rewinding the video. Looking forward to all the new lesson series. (I also loved the music you selected here too!). Thank you, David-Dorian.
I posted this to facebook. A very fun routine to start. I have been doing 24 movement but this is nice for a 5 minute quick routine.

You can find all of my videos right here on this channel, and be sure to check out the playlists as well. Thanks!
I LOVE this routine. I like how it hits most of the body and gets the legs going. Love getting to see your version DDR.
Your form is beautiful, and it's clear you've been a teacher for a long time. I enjoyed watching you! Pardon me for saying so, but the music was a little off-putting, and didn't go with your water-like movements.
Thank you David. I’ve been looking for information on learning Tai Chi. And you have helped me so much in making this goal achievable.

Thanks for commenting about this! I didn't know he was on Great Courses. I'll have to check it out.

Thank you so much! I am glad that the Universe brought me to you! I am looking forward to learning with you on my journey! Light and Love
I like this, very similar to the 24 yang form. Well thought out and a perfect routine. Good work.
Where are the rest of the videos for this? I've been trying to just learn it through this but it's a little wonky as each move kind of moves fast.
We had a bunch of starts and stops to this series - but we finally filmed the whole thing in 8 episodes. We just got done with the edits, and we'll be publishing it soon! Thanks for following up - and thank you for your patience!
Many thanks
Thank you.
Probably the best demonstration of the 8 form, I've seen on video. The pace is perfect. most of the other demonstrations seem a little slow.
Nice job
Good beginners
Love it, thanks David
Morning :) Thank you David,

I love your videos and I follow them but I don't think this works as a beginner level

I would rather just hear the ocean. Your music does not relax.
I wanted to subscribe but the music you have really is distracting. sorry
