    I have experienced it a few times on my 2012 Sonata. I found out that there is a sensor that detects the break pedal being pressed. Sometime it malfunctions and although the break pedal is pressed, it does not detect it as pressed. The solution is to get out of the car and slightly push it forward or backward. Then the sensor works again and I can start the car after pressing the break again. I hope this helps others.

    Check the Negative battery terminal that is connected to the ground (vehicle frame). If the frame has paint on it you need a wire brush to clean the paint on the frame and the bolt.

    I believe it is the shift linkage / neutral safety switch getting out of adjustment. This screws up the neutral safety switch. Remove the battery and mount. Loosen the nut connecting the shift cable to the shift lever. Everything will center itself. Jumper the battery cables to see if it will start. It not, adjust the switch by loosening the screws and move it some. Try until it starts

    My 2014 Hyundai sonata made me really regret getting a push start car. I have this issue a lot. Often when it does this my brake pedal locks up, nothing on the dash comes on, and the key is undetected, even after changing the battery or inserting it. I literally have to wait around for it to decide to work. When taking it to the dealership they don't know what the issue is and want to charge out the ass to find out which I can't afford to do especially if it's going to keep happening. 😔

Put the key into the Fob inside the center console and still nothing. The car won’t even let me get it into Neutral to push. Going to try and jump start today as last ditch effort but might have to take it in. Dreading it becoming it’s going to be an arm and a leg for something probably extremely easy and cheap. I swapped the starter relays and fuses around to check it, but still no start even though they’re all good. Already took out to test the starter at 2 different Autozone’s, but they both concluded it was a good starter. Changed a new set of spark plugs, still no start. Now I notice that the EPS (Electric Power Steering) light is on, and read on a forum saying it’s due to a faulty part; if it’s severe, it doesn’t let you start as a safety measure. I can’t bring my car to the dealer yet since I can’t get it to start. Really have a headache here.”

  • @justinmarks1711
    @justinmarks1711  8 лет назад +13

    The dealership eventually claimed it was a starter issue (I don't believe them at all). I think they reset some electrical system and it fixed it.
    I had a complete engine rebuild done in August 2015 (which became a large recall a month later). When I got the car back, I noticed that when I locked the car, it no longer made 1 'beep' for locking the car but was still making 2 'beeps' when unlocking the car. Before getting the engine redone, it did make a 1 beep sound when locking the car. When getting the car back the first couple times with the non-start problem, it still did not 'beep' when I pressed the lock on the key fob. The problem persisted, especially in the cold. When I got it back the last time, my car did in fact make that 1 beep sound when pressing the lock. I did not consider the fact it wasn't happening as an issue, but I definitely noticed that it was fixed after the last time. It struck me as odd. They never mentioned anything about. This probably doesn't answer any questions, but I guess I don't really have any answers. Maybe it really was the starter. Good luck.

    I have a 2011 sonata. They replaced my engine including the starter a couple years ago when it blew up. The starter went out 7 months later so they replaced it under warranty. Not even a year later my car won’t start again. Intermittently. Sometimes when it’s jumped, sometimes not. It starts when it wants to. Replaced battery no luck. I have it towed to the dealership for them to tell me it’s the starter again but I’m out of warranty and they want $700 to buy an autozone starter and replace it. I SAID NO THANKS. My mechanic replaced the starter with no luck. Ordered another starter…no luck. He put my old one back on and it’s starting. He said that if I press it 4 times fast it should start. He thinks it’s the ignition switch. I have noticed about 4 times in the past 6 months my dash, headlights and radio flicker. There’s a very slight flicker in the lights when the car is on but when the car is off there lights are fine, no slight flicker. Can someone help me?! I’m so scared this is going to be costly.

      No. I've had my 2014 Hyundai since 2015. Absolutely no problems. Just regular maintenance, oil, brakes, tires. Then this one problem same as the video. Car starts just takes a couple tries. I'll buy another some day.

    Push button requires the brake to be pressed in order to start the car.

      If you hold down the push button for 10 - 15 seconds without brake pedal, it will over ride the brake switch and the car will start, if the brake switch is the problem.

      Got the same prob here; no start but lights still turn on in the car. No start w bypass either. Bought a new battery, no start (so it’s not the alternator also). Really have a headache here.

      tatyana peterson try changing the battery anyway could be on its way out. Had a similar problem when i got it from the dealer for a recall once and the car would not start. They changed the battery and it works fine.

    The Answer Is That Your Car is Dead. Go to the trunk and Jump it. I did the same last night. After that let it run. For a while
