I have experienced it a few times on my 2012 Sonata. I found out that there is a sensor that detects the break pedal being pressed. Sometime it malfunctions and although the break pedal is pressed, it does not detect it as pressed. The solution is to get out of the car and slightly push it forward or backward. Then the sensor works again and I can start the car after pressing the break again. I hope this helps others.
Check the Negative battery terminal that is connected to the ground (vehicle frame). If the frame has paint on it you need a wire brush to clean the paint on the frame and the bolt.
I believe it is the shift linkage / neutral safety switch getting out of adjustment. This screws up the neutral safety switch. Remove the battery and mount. Loosen the nut connecting the shift cable to the shift lever. Everything will center itself. Jumper the battery cables to see if it will start. It not, adjust the switch by loosening the screws and move it some. Try until it starts
