after watching several vids from whitechapel's drummer, I have come to the understanding that drummers have my respect for being able to not only perform such a demanding instrument, but they are far above my comprehension as to how they write the drum music they do in any song, especially one so technically complex as this.
Between Ben's playthrough and Alex's playthrough/cover, both were absolutely fantastic and on point. It's impossible to say that one was better than the other and trying to be factual about it, considering how music is an art, and the beauty of the art is in the eye of the beholder (you know, all opinionated 'n shit). All you can say is that you like one more than the other. I may be more partial towards Ben's playthrough, but that doesn't mean I have to shit on Alex's.
The part between 3:15 - 3:19 got me all worked up. How everything is blended together with just the simple cymbal catch thingie and double bass going just hits hard for some reason, in my opinion anyway.
Good. God. My mind is blown from the doubles he does with his feet. And how intricate his playing style is. Just wowowoowowowowowowowoowoww. *bows at feet*
I knew that, He was there since the Recorrupted EP. I was talking about putting on RUclips playalongs to him playing the older Whitechapel stuff that was written before he joined.
Also, Ben Harclerode has earned my respect. It's never nice seeing people leave a band especially when they seem to be hitting their stride as musicians, but Ben has quelled whatever worries I might've had. Dude plays fast and technical, can't as for much more than that.
Alex didn't do a bunch of kicks 'n ghost notes indeed, but he added a lot of his own interpretation in the fills which sounded very interesting and supertight. It's a matter of taste/opinion in the end.
Was a little hesitant to get into new whitechapel, but as soon as I stopped being a bitch about music and listened to it, I fucking love it. Ben is a fantastic drummer, and I'm sure he'll continue to bring an awesome sound to the band. Still miss Kevin.
The drums in this song are incredible.... it's not a matter of who's a better drummer, obviously both Ben and Alex bring different talents to the table. Quit comparing and enjoy the song!
I'm hoping for play alongs from older Whitechapel songs, see how he plays them to see any difference. Cause from what I saw live it's different in a good way, a very good way. :p but i just wonder how it would sound in the studio from him how he plays old Chapel stuff.
he didn't "miss" anything. this is a version different to that on the album. the album version doesn't have any ghosts and many of the fills are different. alex covered the album version just about perfectly.
I think the reason people say Alex did better for several reason; 1. Alex is a technically better drummer then Ben and when Alex plays it he makes it look effortless. 2. Alex's mix was much better quality so it sounds better in that respect... and im aware Alex doesnt do his own mixing but it just had better sound quality regardless. 3. Never underestimate the power of a foot cam... typically people like vids with a foot cam more. Its not that Alex played it better its that his vid was better!
i hear more than just the crash in this video wich i can remember in the track being strictly crash and snare at the ending breakdown. just in case i am wrong i will go listen to the track now. hope i dont sound rude......
Do you all realize that he is one of the only drummers on youtube doing a playthrough that you can hear on the drums... Fucking tight
It makes you realize how important drummers are
After seeing his blast beat I'm not convinced that his left arm isn't some kind of advanced android prosthetic
I have never seen blast beats played so effortlessly. Nothing else moves in the left hand but the fingers, amazing.
Both Ben's and Alex's playthroughs may be great, but don't foget that Ben had to write it.
as a drummer, i think its easier to play super complex progressions than try to learn someone elses
@@capnslapn2905 agreed 100 percent
@@WyattStav lol did not think i would meet you here, wazzup :D
such an amazing drummer to watch
his strokes are so light and effortless yet amazingly precise and hard
what a power
Best drummer they ever had i miss him.

I've watched this video SO many times and it's the first time I see the guy in the back :O
i read this as soon as i noticed him and jumped lol scsred the shit outta me
Same here ..
I love how they have the fan blowing his hair in these playthrough vids. Makes it so much more majestic.
Between Ben's playthrough and Alex's playthrough/cover, both were absolutely fantastic and on point. I'm gonna give it to the guy who actually made the song.
The Cocaine Hurricane, Master Of Music.. And ben write this music I think... Alex has just cover this amazing parts.. Wrong?
Both are beasts and talented mate, I liked the Whitechapel era with Ben more though than newer albums
@@lorenhusky2717 if you can see this reply 6 years later, Alex is now the official Whitechapel drummer.
Was able to squeeze a lesson out of him - great guy with helpful tips!

Only thing i'd say about the two is that Ben's heel-toe and Alex's heels-up are both equally impressive.
Hell yeah ... absolutely on point brother..badass .🔥🤘🔥🤘
So fucking talented
One of my all time favorites from them
each part of this song is fucking amazing.
this helps get you guys out there soo much your drum fan base grows with every video
Man the most cleanest and technical DEATH METAL drummer for sure .... So far
SUCH A BEAST!!! WE NEED MORE PLAYALONGS!!!
Good. God. My mind is blown from the doubles he does with his feet. And how intricate his playing style is. Just wowowoowowowowowowowoowoww. *bows at feet*

Great musician ship brother!
Man I'm impressed. Love those patterns with the left hand.
Unbelievable.
I knew that, He was there since the Recorrupted EP. I was talking about putting on RUclips playalongs to him playing the older Whitechapel stuff that was written before he joined.
he makes the song look effortless!
Dear Ben Harclerode, please do a Blacked out play along. Thank you
I sure enjoy these videos
for I am not a man or machine, nor the highest soul of immortality. I am not you, I am not me, and I shall control all the things that be.
This guy in my opinion is the reason the new album is so damn good. Thats how you fucking drum
I. fucking. love. these.
Those crashes match the guitar tones perfectly
Is that Eric Morotti??? If it is he is one wicked drummer. He is amazing behind the kit and makes it look so easy.
So smooth
Also, Ben Harclerode has earned my respect. It's never nice seeing people leave a band especially when they seem to be hitting their stride as musicians, but Ben has quelled whatever worries I might've had. Dude plays fast and technical, can't as for much more than that.
this guys a fucking monster for creating this beast ass drum track for the song
Fun fact: Ben Harclerode can act as a speedboat when you put him in water.
Just wind up his feet, and off to adventure!
wow this guy is a genius!! best and most creative drummer to be in white chapel yet.
That was fucking awesome!!!! Such a sick drummer
Alex didn't do a bunch of kicks 'n ghost notes indeed, but he added a lot of his own interpretation in the fills which sounded very interesting and supertight. It's a matter of taste/opinion in the end.
He makes it seem so easy.
Ben, please do a play-along of the whole Whitechapel catalog. Thanks
i think i watch this video once a day at least... its fucking mind blowing.
his blast beat technique on his left hand his fucking perfect.
That was intense,fucking awesome
Really digging the new album.

How is that guy not impressed??!! Jesus he's in the presence of a Godly drummer. WTFF??!!
Pleeeeaaassee do a playalong of I, Dementia and The Night Remains!
Those snare blasts though!
Fuckin flawless blasting technique. Holy shit !
This song is badass, it's fun to cover on drums and vocals. This is by far my favorite song by Whitechapel!
Was a little hesitant to get into new whitechapel, but as soon as I stopped being a bitch about music and listened to it, I fucking love it. Ben is a fantastic drummer, and I'm sure he'll continue to bring an awesome sound to the band. Still miss Kevin.
have u seen alex rüdinger covering this song? amzing cover, you two are fantastic drummers, i want a drum battle
You are one sick dude!
man you are so good.
I didn't notice that dude watching for the first minute, then he scared the shit out of me haha.
And on the drums... GOD!!
this has been fun
great drum cover dude :P
MOAR!!!
Why would anyone "dislike" this?
you're fucking brutal man. love this song.
dude, badass to the max, get the guitar up in this too please
look up section 8 and go to the one uploaded by "multizombierapist". its a high quality version so i guess i should just listen to it more.
¡He is so good! I see Ben like an extreme metal version of Travis Orbin.
Guitar playalongs!!!
Awsome!
Hey dude please do a Our Endless War Playalong...
SICK! grat job men!!
Who gives a fuck who's better, they're both talented musicians in an awesome band nuff said
this song in my opinion might be their heaviest
Play this at half speed and it sounds like a typical beatdown song lol!
flawless victory.
Jesus those Meinl cymbals are beautiful!! Awesome video man!! If I were religious, I'd sell my soul to the devil to be able play like this. :P
The drums in this song are incredible.... it's not a matter of who's a better drummer, obviously both Ben and Alex bring different talents to the table. Quit comparing and enjoy the song!
Epic ending !
I'm hoping for play alongs from older Whitechapel songs, see how he plays them to see any difference. Cause from what I saw live it's different in a good way, a very good way. :p but i just wonder how it would sound in the studio from him how he plays old Chapel stuff.
The price/or bill for just his effects and splashes would be out the ass expensive!
he didn't "miss" anything. this is a version different to that on the album. the album version doesn't have any ghosts and many of the fills are different. alex covered the album version just about perfectly.
Yeah, he's really good at playing breakdowns.
More Playalongs \m/ .
4:03 on, so good.
Such skill...
silky smooth
i want ben do their old songs.
ben is a BEAST!!! these videos are sick , do some lesson videos man \m/
I'm not a drummer so I don't really know what I'm talking about, but is he using heel-toe technique on the double kick? like @ 2:28 for example.
Doesn't say very much considering the fact that Ben is the one who wrote the damn drum track.
God. Damn. I just shat my pantaloons.
I think the reason people say Alex did better for several reason;
1. Alex is a technically better drummer then Ben and when Alex plays it he makes it look effortless.

Id love to see the the sheet music for this song
Great drumming and sound. which china is that you play at 3:35?
That outro🤘😈
DAT LEFT HAND! omg the blast beat....like wtf! how? 1:37
Sweet.
Dude talking to drummer: "you're (pauses to swallow) Amaziiing dude," Garth Algar: "Thanks. I like to play. *ting*."
He's one of the only drummers that actually puts soul and emotion into his drumming.
That is a massive misconception that took a shit load of assuming to come too.
Sorry, what I meant by that was of the bands that I listen to. My mistake, friend. :)
MrGerudoLink You must listen to some shitty bands then kid.
Well, maybe I do. Thanks for helping me see the light, man. I'll go listen to Glass Cloud, Meshuggah, and Dream Theater. trve kvlt
MrGerudoLink the only band with a decent drummer in that list is Meshuggah with Tomas Haake. Other than that, haha.
