It's a beautiful day in CAPE VERDE, my 189th country!! That means that I have just 8 countries left until I've visited them all!
Join me today as I take you on a journey around the touristy, yet stunning island called Sal, to see how many things I can get for $10 USD (1,000 Cape Verdean Escudos).
If I could quickly ask for your feedback -- do you enjoy these $10 series? They take about twice as long to make as my other videos, and I am not sure if I should continue them or not. Thank you from Cape Verde. We are sooo happy for your visit. I would like to explain that Sal is one of the most expensive islands of Cape Verde. Come to visit the other islands like São Vicente and Santo Antão, and those 10$ will get you a lot more. Sharing in 3, 2, 1...

Yes correct and the name of the currency’s in most of Portugal colonies.
Cabo Verde is not in the EU but after Cabo Verde was independent the new Cape Verde government pegged their currency to the Portuguese escudo then when Portugal started using Euros the Cape Verde 🇨🇻 pegged the Escudo to the Euro.

I personally believe a country’s currency design tells the world of the history of their nation and national pride. It’s ok to peg the currency to a more stable currency for economic reasons.

Cape Verde is my second home, i’m 75% Norwegian and 25% cape verdiano. I’ve been there twice and to the islands as following, boa Vista, Sal, São vicente, Santo antao and Santiago. I love this place!

You can get a homemade meal consisting of a soup, fresh fruit juice, and a dish of rice, meat and salad at my aunt’s restaurant in Maracaibo for about $2.25 in USD because of the disproportions inflation the amount you pay in the local currency changes

I lived in Cabo Verde for 3 years, and that video gave me txcheu sodade. Thank you! I'm a little bummed you didn't tour Santiago though. Some of the mountain villages there are breathtakingly gorgeous.

With $10 dollars you can get a lot at Sal Island but if you go Sao Vicente or Santiago Islands (other islands of Cabo Verde archipelago) you can get much more 😊

I’m CapeVerdean, but I’ve been in the US for over a decade now; I never went back. I’ve never been to Sal, and my memories about the island where I grew up in, Fogo, are slowly fading away... but wow I’m impressed by how some of them understand English and speak it pretty much fluently. I kind of forgot how much things costed there so thanks for the video man! I hope you’ll visit the other islands one day (Fogo is pretty awesome too, it has a huge vulcano, I’m sure you’ll love it- I might be a bit biased haha) and make videos about them as well

Drew I used to take my breakfast on that place I lived 14 years in Cape Verde before moving to Brasil I loved that video seen Cape Verde I worked In riu hotels for 9 years as a receptionist my heart melted of happiness

I am currently in the learning of creole (brava) because, my dads side is all cape verdean, but I am half puerto rican and, cape verdean. So I am willing to learn both languages so I can speak with my family in their languages. But luckily for me, some cape verdean words are just like spanish words so I can learn faster.

Oi Oi, I was so intrigued by a previous video and the headline ''197 countries'' I had to come see if there was one about Cape Verde, it's awesome!!!
I'm from Santiago (currently residing), it's safe to say that $10 will get you much more then Sal, which is none as one of the most touristy and expensive ones, except for fish, fish is cheaper :) . Since prices exploded, you can't really find Strela beer for 50$00, therefore, $10 get's you less. If you want to know local up to date prices just give me a shout :)

Here in the USA you normally only hear about Cape Verde during the hurricane season because so many of the storms form right in that area off the Africa coast.
