Good list, tough list to make, so many good old school games. Defender, Robitron 2084, Bezerk, Vanguard, Phoenix I coulld go on. When I think of all the quarters I spent back in the day.
Thank you for watching! Yes, very tough list to finalize. There will be other lists though. I'm sure games that didn't make this cut will rank high in others. Stay tuned! Maybe consider checking out some of the other countdowns on my channel in the meanwhile.
While nobody's list is ever going to match one another's perfectly, I can't argue with most on this list, one of the better ones I've seen, so good job. Even if I made a top 25 list, it would probably change week to week, if not day to day, as there's just to many amazing games out there. And I've been gaming since the late 70's early 80's, so I have way to many years to try and pull from as well. LOL
Thank you for watching my video! And the kind words. These lists aren't easy to finalize. I research a variety of sources in addition to my own knowledge to come to a conclusion. I'm working on the next video. Maybe consider checking out some of my other videos as well. Thanks again!
Was that slowdown I saw on Double Dragon? I was never really into that game so I can't remember if it suffered from slowdown. Any arcade game from 1987 should have enough processing power to cope with many sprites without slowing down. Space Harrier came out two years before Double Dragon and had way more going on in the screen and never slew down once.
Thank you for watched my video! And yes that was slowdown. Double Dragon arcade was pretty bad with that. It's actually nostalgic at this point. I remember it slowing down in several areas whenever there was multiple sprites on screen as a kid back then. That's just how the arcade game is.
Yep, it's slowdown and it's one of the few arcade games I can actually remember having that issue at all, and it was pretty bad. Most arcade games are built to bring a certain experience to the player, so you almost never see this problem, as games are built within what the hardware can do. But sometimes the creators vision exceeds the hardware the company gives them to use, and I'm pretty sure that's what happened here.
Space Harrier should deffo be in there. IT was a technical marvel at the time and nothing else that year could come close to it. That game still looks fantastic today. I was really disappointed when I got it in a Sega compilation for the PS2 and they had remade it with polygon graphics. IT looked dull and boring. Its bright colourful landscapes were part of the game's charm.
Great list! I was surprised (but very happy) to see Raiden in there! Definitely my favorite of the vertical scrolling shooters. My youngest daughter was just asking me to play Ninja Turtles on the Switch this morning too!
Awesome! I can totally relate. Nothing beats a good co-op gameplay session with the kids. Did she get to play TMNT? Also, look out for more arcade content coming soon on my channel. I will be counting down more specific genres like vertically scrolling shooters for example. I did a Halloween themed video as well if you haven't checked it out. I know it's not in season. But it's there if you want to take a look. Thanks again! Stay tuned for more!
@@RetroGamingCapsule Thanks for the heads up! We didn’t end up playing it yet, but that’s what she asked to do when she was done cleaning up her room, so hopefully soon!
Excellent list. Once I saw Mortal Kombat at #5, I guessed your last four games and was right (not the exact order). Outstanding choices from many different eras. If I made a top 25 list, half of the games from your lust would be on mine. Subscribed.
Oh I didn't forget lol. It's one of those games that just missed THIS list. But I'll be uploading more arcade content. And I have a feeling The Simpsons will be making an appearance soon. Stay tuned! What are your favorite arcade games? Maybe consider checking out the other videos in the meantime. Thank you for watching my video!
Late 80s into the early 90s Konami was fantastic. You had Sunset Riders, Vendetta and Violent Storm in there. I was well chuffed when I found the MAME ROM of Violent Storm back when I got my first broadband back in 2001. Getting transfer rates of 70kbps was amazing to me. Ended up with a fantastic little MAME ROMset.
Thanks for mention Violent Storm! NEVER saw this one before! Probably because I am from europe and they had never released this one here! Looks like a very cool arcade game like Final Fight!
I remember my grandparents ran a pub and in the kids room they had Double Dragon Final fight Golden axe Gang wars P.o.w Rygar Karnov Wonderboy Wonderboy in monsterland Wonderboy 3 I used to go there everyday after school when games were 20 cents a credit and I would do a few chores to get $2 off pop to play Good old times
Awesome memories! Console gaming is fun. But nothing beats the arcades back in the day! I would walk 3 miles alone with just a dollar as a kid to the mall just to play some games. But it was the experience, the sounds, the atmosphere that drew me in like it did for many others. Thank you for watching! I'll be uploading more content here soon. Also, maybe consider checking out some of my other videos on here.
I've never seen Wonderboy in Monsterland in an arcade but I managed to download that version on to my PS3. It only cost a couple of quid. It's way harder than the Master System version. I bought an old favourite for the PS3 an SNK game from 1985 called Tank. Sadly it's pretty much unplayable outside the arcade because the PS3 version doesn't account for the arcade game's twisting joystick for the gun turret. Once you get to the later stages it's impossible to get going because you need the quickness of the twisting joystick to destroy the enemy tanks. IT could have worked perfectly if they had made use of the analogue joysticks for moving the gun turret. Don't think I'll ever get to play it properly again. I had only ever seen the game in one place. SNK also made use of the same twisting joystick for Ikari Warriors.
Great list! I'll be uploading some more arcade content here soon. Do you enjoy console gaming as well? Maybe consider checking out some of the other videos in meantime. Thank you for watching!

If you like those kind of shooters Truxton and Star Force are worth a look. I'm surprised Star Force never got a home conversion.
@@trip2themoon I’ve heard of Star Force but not Truxton, saved the names though, definitely need to check those out. Thanks!
Super Sidekick is always well spend in arcade to finish the game with a quarter 😅
I tried doing the same with a dollar back then with Super Mario Bros. Didn't work out so well for me lol! Thanks for watching!

Good choices. No list is 100% perfect. Thank you for watching!
