Guys we need to learn to change with the times, This car yes it's not a proper 4x4 but the price benefit it way better, same with the gas mileage if that's what your looking for. Do you criticize the Rav 4 for being a crossover and being good off-road... no. People are leaning more towards small cars because they don't need off-road capabilities like they used to, roads are better and a lot of people don't live in the country. But considering what this car is I think it's great. Just appreciate what you get for the fraction of the cost. And also do you know how much the stinking new Bronco costs! You would be considered rich to buy that thing... Which is sad
To save you the trouble, the version in the video is a nine-speed single clutch automatic that's manually switchable between FWD and AWD, and the stock tires are off-road oriented.

It's nice to go to the supermarket but it's not a off-road SUV. My 2004 Chevy Trailblazer EXT LS with its 5.3 L naturally aspirated V8 engine with active fuel management. As well as being flex fuel capable. My SUV has proven itself as a true off-roader.
The trail gets harder and harder every time you go up it because you're digging ruts in the trail everytime. So it can (barely) make it up a rutted dirt road, and nothing broke like Tommy said. Woopty-f****n'-doo. Seriously? Is that what makes people excited now? We went from XJs, Bronco IIs and S-10 Blazers to this crap? I once had a Festiva that would have gone up this road with less effort. These are sad times we are now living in :(
I saw everything I needed to see in the first 2:30, even in AWD, on the second attempt you could see the fronts spinning and the back doing nothing. It takes a second for it to send power to the rear, but that split second when the fronts are spinning, could dig you a hole/rut that by the time the rears get power, you could potentially not be able to get the fronts out of the hole/rut if its deedly dug especially with those tires, (snow/mud would be more this scenario).
I am pretty sure that if someone wanted an off road vehicle, they would choose something else. This is designed for inclement weather and minor dirt roads.
@Galaxial Pharmaceutical Whoever said that they were trying to live up to the previous Blazer's name/legacy??? As an example.....You remember the Mustang II? If wasn't trying to live up to the previous Mustang. It was trying to address the state of the times (Gas mileage was premium and EPA regulations)...much like this is. Good gas mileage, safe in all weather, affordable. You guys and this whole Blazer thing....jeez.
As someone who has put over 50k in my wrangler jku on 37s with a naturally aspirated v6 I tip my hat to that turbo 3. Obviously that blazer is not a crawler by any means but the thing is going to last forever it’s definitely a pass down car and Chevy should make an additional modded out version inline 4 supercharger or a naturally aspirated inline 6. Of course the gas mileage on this blazer is triple my wranglers
Trailblazer?! Who are they trying to kid?! As far as power is concerned, that thing is absolutely anemic and design wise, it's ugly as sin! It looks like the love child of a newer Camaro and a Nissan Juke. Definitely not worthy of the name!

You guys keep putting your transmissions in the first gear the vehicles gonna do nothing usually gets stuck let the vehicle do it’s thing before you actually screwed things up also you would overheat the transmission leave it in first gear only
For climbing like you did you should have used the 2and gear on the manual part of the shifter. You would not have spun that bad. Just letting you know what I do with my Trax. It gets me thru snow, ice and everything else off road. But,I take it slow so I dont have that much wheel spin.

I’m honestly happy this sub segment is taking off. These days, the off-roading I do isn’t much harder than this and my current 2016 Jeep Patriot handles it well. That said, a vehicle that doesn’t have skid plate and tow hooks could possibly do that trail too, but when you have the whole family with you, being stranded due to cracked oil pan or just in a ditch is not an option. And before anyone says “Just get a real Jeep or 4Runner etc, why have something that gets terrible gas mileage and drive ability (not to mention extra price) just for roads/trails like this?
Wow, i was gonna buy a Steltos, bur after seeing this, i think i have to give my decision some thought. I might just go for this. Very impressed with the off-road prowess.
Seltos is offroad styled, but is really meant for onroad duty with its AWD more designed for snow and wet leaves and the like. Onroad I think its nicer in many ways, and the 7-speed DCT is very snappy shifting with a higher horsepower engine. That said, this is definitely better offroad, has that folding front seat, and can even tow 1K lbs which the Seltos can't.
Now correct me if I’m wrong, but this is technically a 4wd car, not an AWD. AWD means that you have a center differential bias putting power to the front and rear diff and is all wheels pulling, all the time. If you can manually disengage that “AWD”, that means there’s a transfer case in there and is therefore a 4wd vehicle.
I am impressed by this design inside & outside. Glad to the see the 9speed transmission. My biggest reservation is regarding the longevity of the 3 cyl engine.

You're one of the minority that understands

Someone didn’t watch the video....
To save you the trouble, the version in the video is a nine-speed single clutch automatic that's manually switchable between FWD and AWD, and the stock tires are off-road oriented.

Not bad for GM. I’m shaky on the Korean 3 cylinder engine. Time will tell. I’ll bet these units get hit with a nasty 1st year depreciation so 1 year old used may be a good way to go.
The engine was made in Mexico.
Ised one still cost almost as the new.
The Trailblazer had a stock 4.2 liter inline 6 cylinder! The long wheelbase had an optional 5.3 V8,rated about 290 hp.
and the SS had the LS2 which really made 400 hp
I dont care what you say about those tires on that thing, they are hi-way tires.
Alot of Haters in the lower comments, this thing did pretty well for what it is kinda wish it was about 2 or 3 grand cheaper though 30k is like base Jeep price and when the bronco sport comes out which is a bit bigger than this will prolly be better at Off Roading.

While what you're doing is a good test of the AWD system, I don't think people are going to stop at every rut and test the system.
Treading lightly isn't a thing to you. Helping destroy the trail and complaining the trail is being destroyed makes no sense.

Thanks Tommy! It can blaze a trail straight to the service department...
This car will be a huge hit here in India at slightly lower price. Loved it ❤️❤️❤️
I'm not exactly a GM guy but in my opinion, they kind of butchered this, okay not kind of totally butchered it.
Yup true
Old trailblazer actually didn't have a "massive v8". It was a massive "I-6". Simple mistake. Good vid
I think my old Hyundai accent could have done this
So how do you tow this?
"Hello? Triple A?"
10 grand per cylinder to spin tires and tear up the trail eh?
🤣😂🤣😂💀💀💀💀
Great review Tommy, keep em coming. Just found TFL and only been watching you guys for a couple months and I have lots of vids to catch up on!
My biggest reservation is regarding the longevity of the 3 cyl engine.
a 4 cylinder would make it much better i couldn't see any reason to go higher than that
