This is the definition of friendship and caring. We should learn. If all people could be like these two magnificent men, the world would be paradise.
Adi Adrian certainly
These two are like fine wines, in that they keep getting better with age.
I wish I'd said that so true
Crichjo32 Your comment should have a zillion thumbs up
And you comment is like the beautiful fresh cheese board that I would enjoy with those fine wines! I feel complete!
I am incredibly envious of them . Its yet unkown as to whether I am aging like cheese or curdled milk .
+Fetchéz La Vàche But its certainly not wine
Okay, so what do I have to do to make these two men immortal?
+pandesal1977 Find the Holy Grail or figure out how to successfully do brain transplants.
To be honest, they are allready immortal, sure, one day they will be gone from this earth, but thankfully we can allways enjoy their personalities and acting performances in the future
pandesal1977 They shall not pass
You dont. They've done that themselves.Your desire not immortals make,
I Concur, ive just noticed your comment as u may see i said the same thing to the wet head who thinks they have to ask for immortality when the obvious is stated #lovelightlaughter/Ahead ;)
This is an absolute MUST watch for anyone who loves Sir Patrick and Sir Ian. What an amazing couple of men.
The synchronized leg cross at 2:52 is a thing of beauty!
Excellent observation.
Agree man!
I love Patrick Stewarts reaction after Mckellen talks about coming out. 1:19:00. Everyone should have a friend like this!:)
and then Ian bumps his nose and says 'stop it'. Friendship goals.
I wish...
my god, just hearing them talk. they have more personality than most of the young actors of today put together. talk about gravitas....
Gravitas takes time, in 40 years we'll see people talking about the magnificent old masters of stage and screen that are young or youngish actors now.
Sir Ian McKellen could play an Einstein with the very least bit of make-up if he keeps his hair this way 😊
I adore these two. If I was ever to meet any of them I would be too stunned to be able to talk but I could listen to them all day long (!)
When Patrick tells about his parents, and the charity work he is doing now because they both suffered in their adult lives (and therefore he in his childhood) was absolutely amazing.
That whole video is absolutely fuckin' brilliant, but from 1:12:00 on it's just... One of the most wonderful things I've ever seen. I feel like anyone should watch this. I want this as an obligatory thing to watch at any kind of school. Maybe it might enlighten some people.
As I’ve posted elsewhere, I regret having never taken the opportunity to see Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen perform together in both “Waiting for Godot” and “No Man's Land.” What an amazing experience that must’ve been.
2 equally fascinating men who both clearly love each other. Wonderful.
Wow. This started off funny and witty. But it became so intimate. Thank you both gentlemen for sharing their life experiences.
There is obviously a great fondness and friendship towards each other. Great interview!
Who are those 34 people who had the audacity to dislike this? Did they not hear a word they said? Did they not feel anything? I absolutely adore those men. And these feelings they woke within me... Never thought I'd cry and clap outloud whilst watching an interview of two men that have impacted my life with their work
Seeing Magnetto and Professor Xvavier sharing a laugh with audience is golden and timeless
By my reckoning, Sir Ian was age 75 and Sir Patrick was age 74 when this interview was posted to You Tube. Fine actors' best work seems to be related to their age. Who would take on such a repertory challenge in their 70's? Few have the acting skill to do it--makes this even more remarkable.
these guys just keep getting better with age! I love them both so much! They are living legends and it is so cool that they are best friends! If I ever met them I would bow down at their feet. I am in awe of them both. They are so funny and sweet and down to earth. Bless Ian for being so vocal about gay rights. He is a shining example for us all.
Well said.
Actors on their level do get better with age. They are both using their skill and fame to speak out for things which need their voices. Bravo to both of them.
Every time I see the two of them together, I just want to meet them and have a drink....such fun they are together. This went by way too quickly
I’d say I’m 6 years late but... a wizard is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.
I was there!!! This was amazing! Thank you, SAG Foundation!
Absolutely worth each and every second of viewing.. Thank you VERY much for sharing this.
im just that dazzled that bloody sir patrick stewart is wearing a hoody
that did it for me too. .. brings him right down to earth. I live in them
Wow! And to think I almost passed this by because of the length... This was amazing! It should always be Ian and Patrick talking about anything because not once was I not riveted... It was insightful and intimate, and wow, I can't believe they spoke so frankly...
You'd have to be a very miserable misanthrope to 'dislike' this.
Ian-John Coughlan I am a very miserable misanthrope....still enjoyed it.
Sir Patrick's memory of A Christmas Carol just warmed my heart. Sorry I did not get to see him do this onstage. the film version has become my favorite version, and I own it on DVD. And no, I am not a misanthrope. :)
or the ghost of Richard Harris
Sir Ian has way of pulling you into his love of the atmosphere of play acting and theatre, at once acknowledging the riggers while reveling in the life, the honor, and seemingly rejuvenative powers of acting.
Oh my god they cross their legs at the same exact time when they sit down
The ending of this. Like everything after 1:12:00 forward, I can't stop crying... Such beautiful, beautiful men. :((((
It beautiful. Its the way Ian describes "not being able to hold hands with someone he quite likes". I've been for gay rights because its just the right thing, but Ive never truly understood it. But that really moved me and I feel an emotional connection now as well as logic.
A beautiful interview between two good friends and inspiring men. I love that Sir McKellen understands the source of the Xmen so well.
This is a man who had "read" Tolkien on occasion, and when cast to play Gandalf became a bloody scholar on everything JRR. He even walked around on set with a copy of the book he had scenes of. He understands it because he put in the time to do so. Because this man does nothing short of 100%. Might seem like not much, but when you think about it, it's utterly inspirational.
That little joke of "telling him where all the attractive boys and girls are" shows the true depth of endless friendship.
I love watching Ian McKellen busily upstaging his friend with little bits of business. Awesome!
This guys are legends!!!
I had the chance to meet them... Sir Ian’ is such a doll!! Absolutely gorgeous personality, and very fancentric! Damn Stylish too!!
Two of the best that this generation has inherited. Hope to see much more from them both.
Their friendship is truly a beautiful thing.
god bless them both. Two shining examples of englishmen and gentlemen. I love them both very dearly
My IQ just raised 100 points by listening to those two. Awe inspiring..
Never has an hour and a half long video been so painless and captivating to watch. Two absolute treasures.
It was a privilege to watch this interview with two consummate artists and wonderful humans !
I only half-heartedly began to watch this as a time-filler before something else, but each time I thought I should change video, they uttered something that kept me riveted. And before I knew it, the whole programme had ended. Delightful stuff.
I could listen to them all day long.
MilesMcfly yes! Such a nice warm atmosfere
True gents
It's so great to be able to get such an up close and personal look at these very interesting and amazing human beings. ...Love em both as much as anyone can love someone they don't even know personally.
Totally agree with all these comments...rare to see two men so warm, witty, wise and wonderful...kind,generous & enthusiastic....makes me so greatful for the world of theatre too....which forged these twos characters....
i could literally listen to these two all day!
There is so much heart in both of them! They are truly inspiring. (How I wish SAG could do the same type of interview with Maggie Smith and Judi Dench!).
Two of the most influential people that will ever be on our screens, and they will live forever in our hearts....you have inspired millions and you have inspired me.
Brilliant interview! these 2 men are true idols!
Can you imagine these two backstage just having a loving conversation between themselves being so loving and kind to each other. Seem such good friends.
I am 20 years their junior and don't look half as appealling . I truly need to work on myself , that being said I hope these two will be in film together sometime soon . Being at the twilight of their careers its important to pay them the proper respect .
I love listening to them. The friendship is so respectful and the body language too.
What an incredible privilege and treat to witness such an intimate soul opening interview with two of the finest actors of our time. How can you not love them both even more.
Only having discovered these interviews for myself just now, I enjoy them very, very much, as they shed a lot of light on a broad spectrum, even the whole spectrum, of acting, psychology, and of history too.
Thanks for this. I don't know when I've spent a more enjoyable 90 min oniline.
What a thrill to see these two together. What they have to say is so interesting and their friendship is so warm and real.
I could watch more and more hours of this.
Brothers … true fraternal love. Always a pleasure to hear these two. Cheers 🧐🥃. Have worked at BAM and saw Sir Ian play his modern Richard III before the movie was made. He was simply magical on stage.
1:19:05 the way he looks at sir Ian 😍😍😍😍😍
What a gem of a vid! Thank-you so much for this.
Two glorious luvvies!
Wow. That last little story at the very end that Ian gave just killed me. How wonderful and profound. I am a huge fan of both of these men.
♥ I watched this twice...these two men are true legends...witty, talented and over all genuine entertainers in the truest meaning of what being an entertainer should represent. ♥
This interview could have been twice as long and I would have stayed riveted! Absolutely brilliant and poignant. These two are just incredible human beings.
What a wonderful interview with my two favorite Sirs. I was privileged to see them perform in "No Man's Land" at Berkeley Rep a couple of years ago. They have such a great understanding of and affection for each other and that truly comes across when they are acting together. Thank you so much, SAG-AFTRA Foundation, so glad I ran across this video tonight.
Brilliant. I could listen to these two for days. 👍
2 of the most inspirational men ever, the last 20 minutes were pretty moving!
Visionary yes! Such a great warm atmosfere - inspirering gents
I could listen to them for hours...just like Morgan Freeman, I would love to talk to them endlessly about anything................
wow, true veterans of theater. I'm so glad I found this video
Where are our upcoming greats like them? Who will keep their legacy going...The classic Shakespearean actor..It seems it would be a huge shoe to fill.
What a treat!!!
Just when you think you can't love Sir Patrick Stewart any more... 1:24.
Legendary actors and legendary people with a legendary friendship!
You can tell these two men Love and Respect each other in a very deep and meaningful way. Much respect and thanks for the show!
Wow! Entertaining start to finish. And the affection these two gentlemen hold for one another is inspiring in its depth and scope. Moving really.
Too classy these two elder statesman fine actors fine men those speaking voices wow
Wonder how long these two have known each other? Would love to have seen them hanging out in thier younger years! Two top notch guys!
I would have loved to have seen these two in Godot. Bucket List top 10.
Ian looks like Einstein here!
He should do a movie about him =P
Zulamun Thanks! So I’m not the only one to think that 😊
Get yourself a friend that looks at you like these two remarkable gentlemen look at each other
I have profound admiration for these two. Great, great stuff. I wish it were longer.
My mom grew up in the same Chicago neighborhood that Carol Lawrence was from. She'd walk by Lawrence's mother's house with her friends on their way to school and peek inside at the beautiful chandelier in their home. This was around the time that West Side Story was big.
Wat's higher than "sir"?... whatever it is, award these 2 lovely gentlemen IMEDIATELY coz they're r the very definition of the term "LIVING LEGENDS"...
Great interviewer - great revelations from the two of them
Fan-tas-tic interview! Wonderful classy gents; a joy to listen to, and with such heart!
Their like will not be seen again!
I couldn't wait to see these two gentlemen in Gadot. My only disappointment was that I didn't also see No man's Land too.Oh well we all make really bad mistakes.
Luv them both . amazing actors
I love the love between these two men. So uplifting.
Starts off good then takes a turn for the best. Got the feels.
2 of my most favourite actors. so amazing to just have them talk.
Gentlemen, i really enjoy listening to their conversation
I love these two, love them. What a joy to watch, thank you for uploading this video. x
That was wonderful!
this 2 people are All-Time-Legends !! wow
T'was magnificent viewing this again. I couldn't take my eyes off them as they took us back recounting their journeys with thoughtful pauses and illustrative word choices. Truly magical treasure to watch.
Two beautiful, amazing men who can keep us all entertained and enthralled without a script. Thank you.
this is just beautiful.
The interviewer reminds me of Johnny from "Airplane" (1979)
Fan Made Videos YES!!!!!
Wow! This is one of the best interviews I have ever seen. What great storytellers! I learned so much about life in this wonderful video. Thank you for sharing!
wish i could see this! these two plus Billy Crudup, well shiiiiit! :)
too much awesomeness to believe.
cried like 3 times throughout this they are very special to me
I had always assumed that these two knew each other professionally. Surprising that they only got to know each other personally by being neighbors at the trailer park.
But it is good to see two actors able to see each other as fellows rather than rivals and forming a real friendship.
That was a treat.
How I wish these two would write a book (or a few) together, with either the experiences they've had together or separately. I would love to live in that world for awhile 🥰👏❤
