I was told by an Artist at a workshop never to date your work because if you do decide to sell there is judgement attached to that and it is not good from a sales perspective. I love how you think…and loved watching your process. What is it with Artists and circles? We all seem to just love them.
Ohhhh good info Betsy!!! I never sell my work (copyright issues galore!) but to anyone who does that is great info!.... and circles... they are just the BEST!!!!....:)
Thank you for identifying layers as you work. This helps newbies. Since I am of an age.. I appreciate you considering her in your work. Yes, we do all get old 😂 Great job!
The lady with silver hair is Elon Musk’s mom! I’ve only learned to paint so far but not done much collage-I appreciate so much you taking us through your process, and speaking so well and clearly, and keeping the whole thing so visible! Thank you!
Of all the thousands of people who have seen this, you are the first one to know that is Elon Musk's mommy!!!... And glad you liked it!!! I do lots of collage art process videos but this was really my first!
Omg! I have a cat that does that when I’m working too. Like your approach to collage. It’s funny how I was dying to have your pictures and do something different. Great video and art. Thank you
I do that ALL the time... see the peeps doing the magazine flip throughs and think... wait, you just passed the perfect picture, go back, go back...:) It would be fun if we could all do a challenge together...:) Maybe I will buy a current magazine and do that sometime!
Just discovered you and would LOVE to see more of your magazine collage process videos (and yes, with decisions on placement). Also, how do you store all your images? Thank you! Really loved this!
Ohhhh will have to think about doing more of those (I don't do all that many process but often think about how others make stuff so OF COURSE that makes sense!!)
Hi Tara! Thank you for sharing your process. Im creating a fashion cut and collage book and I'd like to add how to instructions. Although collage can seem subjective there are underlying fundamentals that make for an interesting composition. I learned alot from your video and can pass on some info :)
hello ! i'm glad i found your channel via this vidéo i just watched ! i really like your way of explaining how this piece of yours is being made step by step (with humour sometimes, even) ... i tried a bit of collage back in 2012 but i was in the loony bin then, and we were 7 or so patients sharing something like 15 magazines with pretty much nothing left in them from all the cutting out, and it was first thing in the morning, and compulsory, when i was dosing on a new medicine my body still had to adjust to.... so not in the best context to actually have fun with collage ! but now i feel i want to renew this experience, and i'm in the process of discovering what kind of techniques exist, and basically how more skilled people experience this media ! so thanks for showing us what you do, and how you do it :)
Oh my gosh! So glad you are getting back into it...:) I love it because I can be an artist without having to be "an artist"!!!!....:) Let me know if you have any questions!!!
Probably a very silly question, but if I choose canvas instead of paper, do I need to alter any process? This was wonderful to watch. Thank you for sharing. 🥰
I think i love this kind of art I cant draw only stick people lol im trying to draw those medium girls and they look more like monsters hahahaha ! Maybe this kind of art is the answer for me ..Thanks for showing Ill subscribe....
I think it is a problem. Generally the photographer retains the copyright for the picture. So the kind of art I do where things aren't changed that much is probably not sellable. I don't sell my work. I have researched that if the pictures are modified considerably you could sell your work, but I am not a lawyer. Hope that helps!
Hallo, just found your video and I like it so much that I subscribed. I realy like seeing the whole process of decisionmaking for I harvested lots of pictures I like but was a bit overwelmed. Now I can see it works easier if I would just pick a couple of things with my focalpoint and work from there. Also the working with 2 pages for I do have some bigger things myself. Do you take the staples/thread out if the spine of the book you work in so you always have the 2 opposite sites together? Thanks for sharing, I love how this collage turned out.
So glad you subscribe wab because I have a WHOLE video about picking images to use coming next week! Keep your peepers open for it! That one was done in an "open spread" book... just two facing pages. LOTS of time I do my work on mixed media paper and then put them in a book on facing pages ... could be an ARC journal with discs or a wire bound journal I glue them into like my current book. Hope that helps!
@@TaraJacobsen yes I was just thinking, only the inside pages are actually 1 whole piece. Fir the ither facing pages are not stucking together so if ever you want to take them out you got 2 half pieces or am I wrong? That's why I thought you take the pages out first.
@@waboosje Ahhh I gotcha, but then only the very middle ones would show the whole spread if you put them back together again. If it is abound book I leave them in. If they are separate papers I just design them to go together!
I just had a vision....wouldnt this be really cool on a feature wall in a bathroom putting beautiful ladies with backgrounds ...Than coat it with a poly so the moisture doesnt get to it add some led lights around the top ..I was going to do whimscail media girls for wall paer but i think also a person could pull off using this method ....im also thinking to incorporate using big floral patterens as well for background with old style prints ......What do You think? Ps if not wanting a feature wall could do it around the mirrors and lights .....
Just stumbled upon your channel and will subscribe! Love your style and friendly, relatable manner of explaining your process. Do you ever journal/add text to your pages?
Hi, I don't know if you'll ever see this question and I realize your collage was made a while back BUT!!!! D o you remember how you made those cool flowers on the gel press? You can see what I'm talking about at 28:28 minutes. Thank you for this video!

Are you using mod podge to glue everything down?
I use mod podge for all the background and most of the front, but sometime for the delicate bits I used Art Glitter Glue...:)
@@TaraJacobsen And you use glitter glue because of the tip, right? Beautiful work. Big fan here.

The model's face used here is the mother of Elon Musk! Beautiful, huh? I think her name is Maye Musk.
She is so darn pretty.. I have another one of her AND helen mirren... I am going to make a collage with both those gals!
