    Hello Kebu, I enjoyed hearing the sound of your voice. It is the first time that I have heard you speak on a video. One of the best investments I ever made was in purchasing an external speaker system for my laptop. The sound I get from my Altec Lansing system is amazing! I consider you to be one of the best electronic music performers and composers ever! I have enjoyed your many performances and concerts, and wish you continued success with your music career! Your fan, Will Ortiz

    Get the Polivoks. Partially a Minimog Model D copy but more stable and with an awsome filter that no japanese synth has. Can recomend Aelita, Polivoks, Alisa 1377 and 1387 and Altair 231/ Estradin 230. No programs or MIDI but MIDI kits can be bought for installement. The drum machines are exeptional. Mostly analogue gear. The digital effects are weird and sound different from western gear.

      Maybe because the video feels more like a Roland Jupiter X and Xm promotion than a presentation of his collection and that if this is what it is then it should be presented as such. This said, Roland can hardly have better ambassador for it's vintage emulation synths. Side note: these two Korg MS 20 on top... they seem a bit out of place in the middle of this Roland gang.

    I'm still on the fence whether to buy a JPX. This has nudged me slightly closer to having one but I need to see if they are weighted keys and if the presets have classic instrument sounds like pianos and wind and brass or if its purely a "synth" synth... if you get my meaning. ie my jp8 is no good for a grand piano but for a rising whoosh.... get me?

    • @st0rmchild
      @st0rmchild 3 года назад

      The Jupiter-X does have pianos and all kinds of other instruments as well. It supports both sample-based and virtual analog synthesis, and you can layer up to four sounds.

    Interesting to see. I wonder what you would consider "a lot of delay and reverb", if what you used in this video is "not much" :) Makes it sound nice, though, and I also do that to sweeten my otherwise very dry and cold DX7 (yes, I know, it's not a Roland ...). Incidentally, it also has a very good aftertouch, which I use a lot when playing solo lines.
    Saw you in concert in October last year in Hannover, hopefully it will be possible again next year. Stay healthy!

    Sending a trigger audio signal from anything in order to sync a Juno 6 (or 60) is a classic trick which is good to teach to the newcomers.
    It's what I did in the 80s & 90s, record a simple sequence of notes in my sequencer, send it as a pulse from a dedicated output of my akai sampler to the trig input of my old Juno.
    And obvioulsy you're not obliged to send 1/16, trig what & how you want.
    And I still do it today
    (Actualy I send now a trig signal from Logic via my UA Appolo, but the game is the same)

    Kebu, one big warning concerning the colored flip switches of the SH 1000 and 2000 :
    These switches are made of a special type of plastic. If one of those should ever break off, you're in trouble.... I once owned an SH-2000 and a flipper broke off.........
    I have tried EVERY type of glue I could get my hands on. CA glue, PVC glue, 2 component, PVA glue, PVC glue, etc..etc... You name it.
    N O T H I N G worked !! No glue in existance can glue this plastic !!
    So be careful. You have been warned. The ONLY option to repair these knobs is to buy a new one..... They are rare and not cheap.......

    • @kebu
      @kebu  3 года назад

      That's strange. One broke off for me when a keyboard stand tilted and the synth landed on the floor. But it broke off very cleanly, so I just put on some loctite superglue, lined up the two pieces, and it has been fine ever since. Of course, I was lucky that it was such a clean break.

    • @telescopereplicator
      @telescopereplicator 3 года назад +1

      @@kebu This is the first time, that I've ever heard of, that anyone has ever succeeded in gluing it back in place. Without failing, soon after..........
      I have placed this warning under other videos and several people have confirmed that these 'flippers' are notorious for being unable to be glued back in place.
      I guess you were lucky. Thus far..............
      GREAT collection, b.t.w. I love those old synths !! I once owned, besides the SH-2000, a Juno 60, JV-1080, Korg Polysix, Yamaha DX-7IID, SH-101 and a JX-8P.
      The Yamaha had the best keyboard but the JX-8P had the best sounds. I connected them via MIDI so I could have the best of both worlds !! ;-)

    I have 7 Rolands, I love them. Fantom X6(decked out), Jv-880, XP-30(decked out), D-110, U-110, D-50, and a Juno 106(voices are failing sadly)

    heyyo Kebu your JX8P / Juno patches on Roland's Axial site for JD-XA are just pure heaven for me; the JD-XA makes a lot lot lot more sense for me right now, but I was just missing the JX very hardcore & extremely. To top it off actually I added on Behringer/TC-Electronic's "June 60" which apparently reproduces the Juno 60's stereo analog chorus circuitry exactly (I have my doubts) but it does do what the digital chorus fx lacks for me. Just wanted to say thanks again for doing that! I use the sounds daily.
