I remember signing up for my school jazz band. I told the teacher I could play bass. First song, I had to walk the bass, not knowing how to read music lol I learned eventually and ended up playing in the band for two years. We even won regional competitions. That was 12 years ago but I still suck.
@Nicholas Begg i would go for a p bass in that situation. You can get a sound similar to the upright as opposed to the jazz bass. I actually played a squier p bass back in those days
I just scored a used 3-tone sunburst 22" model for $400 today! It's in excellent condition, I already love how easy it feels to play! My first single coil bass! I love the tone I'm getting. Great demonstration on that beautiful green Burst. Hopefully someday soon I can walk the bass like you do lol peace!
Compared to the Stingray 24ca, which one is the better deal for the money? The Ray was cheaper and seemed like a great “all around” bass guitar. Thanks for these posts!
This was 649 at my local GC until last week. Now it's 849 again. I almost grabbed one but my Squier Affinity that I modded with Highway One tuners and some used Player series pickups, sounds basically the same. It's just that Fender logo calling me...
Great playing. I remember walking the bass like that. My teacher would play piano. I would screw up without him missing the beat. He would wack my hand with a ruler. and keep playing. of course, I was the only student he ever did that too.
Just bought the blueburst version. First MIM Fender bass ever. Always have had and have now American P-basses and J-basses. Other than the unneccessary rolled edges that my American Fenders have, it's a great bass overall. Had a generic all brass chromed vintage high mass bridge laying around so I swapped out the stock bridge. No difference in sound or sustain just looks nicer.

Another nice review Bob. Where the heck have you been pal ? What is the brand and model watch you have on? I’m somewhat of a wristwatch connoisseur.
It's a gshock gstb400!
That's a Player Plus Top I love the colors especially the Blue Burst but I could live with the green
Hey Marc, yeah those are cool colors!
@@BobBlackBass Oh by the way I've always been told if you find a 9lb Fender J bass you're doing good since they average 10 lbs
