  • I drove a Porsche 911 roughly 2,000 miles in 3 days. I went to the Dirfish rally school, and I decided to drive there, even though it was about 900 miles away from home. In this video, I’ll profess my love for the Porsche 911 as the most capable all around sports car ever built and explain why that’s true through how it performed on this epic road trip.

    This was SUCH an inspiration to watch! I did not own a car when I saw this video last month, and I immediately said, LIVE LIFE AND GET OUT THERE! So, I went to a Porsche dealership, bought the Porsche GT3 2022 3 weeks ago, and I am launching from Miami to Montana with several stops in between including the Millionaire highway, Badlands in SD, and Blueridge mountains in NC. THANK YOU!!!

      Wow REALLY? That is so amazing!!! First of all, congrats on the GT3, that is such an epic car. And second, kudos for using it for such an awesome road trip. I'm sure you'll make a ton of memories during the adventure. It makes me happy that the video inspired you, thanks for leaving a comment to let me know. You might also enjoy my video about how the death of 3 friends prompted me to buy my 911 because like you said...live life and get out there (ruclips.net/video/x1VAN_sEE-I/видео.html).

    Totally agree. We've owned our 2006 Carrera S from new. Our kids grew up being taken to school in it. My wife drove it as a daily and it's as fun comfortable and reliable as it has ever been. We had some typical issues: broken oil/air separator, and the water pump grenaded taking out the accessory belt. But not expensive (as long as you don't use the dealer out of warranty). Love it and can't figure out why we would sell it even in the market of rising 997 prices.

      I love stories like this...911 being used for fun and as a regular car. In my opinion, that actually allows you to maximize the fun because you can drive the fun car more often. I find with my Elise, I have to leave it at home more often because it's not as easy to use in every situation. Thank you for watching!!!

      @@AtypicalDriver exactly man, it is well worth driving the car and making memories that will last a life time. I am hoping my 911 will last a lifetime as well with some maintenance because then eventually I can modify it for HPDE use and b road blasts but for now I love the breadth of ability it provides as my daily, autocross, and trip car all in one vehicle

    I totally agree with you! I have 2018 991.2 in Lava Orange with all the options I chose back in DEC 2017. Five months later, it was delivered. Ever since, it has been my daily driver, going to work, getting groceries, taking kids to school and going to karate class. I logged nearly 45,000 miles and took some long epic solo trips. Yes, you are right that those "memories" with 911 will be with you forever! Thanks for sharing your story as I am happy to learn there are other folks who believe 911 is an all round sports car!

      @@AtypicalDriver Drove a 991.1 c2s same as yours sf to sea through I5 & it's more of a pleasurable long cruise while have a bit fun once the road curves(south OR is the best section as I recall). Like you said it can handle any unexpected condition I remember I was enjoying the drive even at night while raining in the mountains & can push a bit. The boxster I took is a 987 spyder & it's not ideal for hwy cruise at 70+ esp with the top off so I spent 3 days driving on coastal route hwy1/101 . I woke up super early each morning(have to camp at side of hwy1 for 1night near mendocino area too) to start the drive with just me on the road & the scenary/morning fog/curvature of the road are just sublime. It's not as capable or adaptive to weather/condition as a 911 but provide pure bliss of driving that make for a lifetime memory.

      @@YueHou Good call getting up early to enjoy the morning fog and empty roads. I can imagine with the soft top it's quite a bit noisier at high speeds. During my trip, there were just so many beautiful sights the whole way that I often found myself just taking it all in and pausing to appreciate the amazing world we live in and the good fortune to be doing such a trip in a Porsche.

    Just got my first Porsche about last 2 weeks. Also a 991.1 C2S. The second day after I got it, did a road trip of a total about 600 miles round trip and it was rock solid. Coming from a G30 before this, in terms of long distance comfort, the 991.1 is almost on par with the big 5 series and that really shocked me. It was comfortable for long distances!

      Thanks for watching and glad that you enjoyed it! Congrats on your 996 too.
      As far as mechanics, I do a combination of stuff myself and take it once a year to the Porsche dealer in Burlingame. Not the cheapest option, but makes me feel good that the pros look at it every once in awhile. Eason Auto Works in Oakland is also great, but not sure if he works on 996s? I have taken my 356 there.

    Hi, just curious if you had any plans in case of flat tire.

    • @AtypicalDriver
      @AtypicalDriver  11 месяцев назад

      Good question! Yes I care a tire patch/plug kit in the car and the 911 also comes with a portable air compressor that plug into the cigarette lighter socket to add air after plugging a tire. Obviously only helps with punctures but that's usually the most common cause of a flat. This is the one I have. amzn.to/3PWb2GO
