Kao Cen Darach is one of if not the single most underrated Jedi Masters ever. He is fn awesome! If I could find someone to make his lightsaber for me...take my money!!
No matter how long Star Wars goes on, I firmly believe that the Zabrak Jedi Master's last stand against both Malgus and his master at the same time will always make the top 5 list of most badass Star Wars moments. I never get tired of seeing that fight.
Kao Cen Darach's sacrifice on Korriban, Satele Shan's revenge on Alderaan, Belth Alussis's defiance on Bothawui, and Ven Zallow's defense of the Jedi Temple
@@MajorWrestlingSyndicate he was a Jedi battle master and arguably one of the strongest to ever hold the title. He literally wrote the texts on what being a battle master should entail.
@@MajorWrestlingSyndicate Kae was a Jedi Master, but most important, he was THE Battlemaster of the Jedi order, meaning he was at the top back then in terms of dueling proficiency. That's why he is able to almost win vs 2 of the strongest Siths of his era.
Given a double blade can be ignited to allow the wielder to use only a single blade it only makes sense and as already said he has mastered all seven forms
For those wondering, Satele’s master is Kao Cen Darach, who was at the time a legendary Jedi and also earned the title of battle master. Which means he is the supreme master and teacher of lightsaber combat for the Jedi Order. Which is why he was able to take on two Sith at once. He however was weakened from so much combat, malgus however was able to get strength using his rage, which is how many sith stay strong. Which he then used to defeat the now weakened master.
Also i think malgus was holding back just a little, to hide the fact that he was really powerful (sith dont show there full strength unless to solidify there position or cow people into submission) but when his master was injured and it was his chance to rise to the top position he allowed his full potential to be seen as there was noone to challenge him
Agree with you 100%! I only wish he had decided to engage Malgus directly rather than continuously fling objects at him after it didn't work the first time. He had the initiative in much of the fight earlier but he let Malgus direct the fight that last time for the reason you mentioned, he was tired. Probably wouldn't have changed anything, but I just want to see him fight more! One of the best Star Wars fights ever.
@@Ravage369 he was visibly exhausted. At this point it was clear that his endurance was running out, and the reason Malgus won was simply because he had more strength left in reserve. He battered straight through every attempt by Kao Cen to defend himself with sheer force, which is why we weren’t able to see any sort of counter attempt being made. Kao Cen is an absolute beast, but these were nigh impossible odds in all honesty.
Can we just talk about Satele for a moment? Her master tells her to leave him behind to die, and what does she do? Does she do the whole "I can't leave you..." Shtick? Nope. She just did exactly as her master told her without complaint or protest. When she sensed him die, she took a second and then just continued focusing on her escape, saving the grieving for later. Why don't more protagonists act like this? (Not that Satele is a protagonist of the game, but of the trailer). Actually focused and determined rather than just whiny...
Simply because most trilogies follow character growth. The character ages with it's targeted audience. If we, the audience, are presented a character that has little room to grow, then we cannot relate as easily. This role is filled by the masters. QuiGon, Old Ben Kenobi, Yoda. They all show that self control and restraint and focus. Those often die off early on to promote growth in the focused characters.
her master was strong enough to hold those 2 back while she and her buddies escaped, someone had to stay behind and keep those 2 darkside buzzards from coming after them, i really liked this scene too bad the sequel trilogy is shit when it could've had awesome scenes similar to this one
this trailer really exemplifies why the sith always lose. they don't lose to the jedi because the jedi are necessarily stronger, they lose because they weaken their own forces constantly with bids for personal power, which usually involve betrayal.
The Sith were weaker. The dark side is easy and fast, users can gain power much faster. But the light side is stronger. Obi wan said it best: those who oppose the dark side are stronger than you could ever imagine. The force yearns for balance, but In nature it leans towards the light
That’s why Darth Krayts Sith lasted longer and were stronger than previous Sith Empires. The Rule of One had made it so instead of apprentice and master all the Sith were under one rule the rule of The Emperor. There were many Sith and most of em didn’t try to kill each other for power they worked together as a team. Now yeah Darth Wyrlook “killed” Krayt to become emperor but ofc he didn’t finished the job and got killed by Krayt. Krayts Sith had the Jedi on the run even if they did fail their Jedi Purge. But in the end the light side of the force prevails like you said. Cade Skywalker has killed Krayt and the Sith got demolished after that.
My argument is simple. Evolution. Evolution and natural selection always kills off the weak in favor for the survival of the fittest and its been working so far. Sith doctrine always ensures that power is gained, never lost. The rule of two (Introduced later on) was an extreme form of that. (Keeping in mind that it was high treason to murder your Master prior to the rule of two. Promotion was earned through accomplishment, not murder)
kaleeel - they aren’t stronger because they’re using the Dark Side, they’re stronger in willpower, which makes them just as determined as the most ambitious Sith.
Walter Mercado Because they don’t give their characters any life or personality besides real basic shit. They have no flaws and perks, they have no goals, no ambitions they have nothing of what makes a good character. They simply exist and do shit for the plot. Honestly I liked TFA and was pretty hyped for TLJ. But we all know how that went.
@@Omarthedemigod I disagree only in that Adam Driver killed it as Kylo Ren. For all the faults those new movies have, and I could spend a week counting them, Adam Driver gave one of the best acting performances in any Star Wars movie.
Elthenar Adam Driver as Kylo Ren is the only thing I loved about the sequels. For all the shit TLJ is Kylo Ren got great development in that movie when destroying his mask and basically saying he’ll be his own man. Then TROS ruined that development by giving him his mask back which ruins the development he had in TLJ.
@@Omarthedemigod I disagree about the mask. He ditched it. Then tried to repair it and put it back on. It all serves to show how confused he was about who and what he was supposed to be. That wasn't truly resolved until TLS when he had the vision of Han and chucked his gimpsaber into the ocean. That said, it wasn't the writing or plot for Kylo Ren that worked so well, it was the super human efforts of Adam Driver to make what he was given work. With a lesser talent, Kylo could have been as bad as Prequel Anakin.
@@KingExituS Let the hate flow through you, it's give you strength & focus. We must defeat the Galactic Disney Empire! It is the only way to restore balance to the fandom.
I Gotta admit, even though I'm more of a Sith type of person, anyone that can hold himself alone, using a dual bladed lightsaber in one hand, with a single bladed on the other, fighting against two sith Lords, and hold his ground for a reasonable amount of time is worthy of respect.
Kao Cen Darach's duel with Malgus and Vindicant is probably the best demonstration of the Niman form that has ever been shown in Star Wars media. From his force integration in between strikes to his implementation of trakata techniques, not to mention his stellar Jar Kai performance with his and Sateles lightsaber. This shit is just top notch
I love that you bring this up! Niman is probably my favorite form, but so many people drag it because the vast majority of its practitioners don’t dedicate significant time to developing their skills and so don’t really show that many impressive feats.
Seems pretty realistic too. It’s pretty common for characters to never try a certain move again just because it was blocked/evaded once. Trying it again just because it did not work for once seems more real.
Star Wars fans: "hey, Bob Iger. See all that money running away that you could've had if you told Kathleen to not make bold and idiotic choices in decanonizing the EU? yeah, you sure made a smart choice there didn't ya?"
The fact that this came out of the mouth of the CEO of Lucasfilm is nothing but insulting. How dare KK remove the EU from the canon and then say that Star Wars has no source material? It also proves that she doesn't know anything about Star Wars because there is clearly some EU influence in the sequel trilogy (Han and Leia having a son that falls to the dark side, Palpatine briefly returning from the dead etc).
I'm not a Star Wars expert by any means, but it seems that the smartest course of action would have been to use popular EU material that was already tested by fans.
@Neo's danger Yeah it wasn't inspired, it straightward happened. The difference is that in Legends it had lore and ways to make it have sense where as the ST took that sense and lore and threw it out the window.
@@admin.slayerenryu I dunno. Dark Empire wasn't a particularly good story and bringing Palpatine back undermines Anakin's sacrifice. But Dark Empire can be forgiven for the simple fact that it came before Lucas came up with the Chosen One thing. But JJ has no excuse other than maybe the fact that Rian Johnson deprived the trilogy of a credible villain by killing off Snoke.
Whoever worked out the fight choreography on these trailers (all of the Old Republic trailers) needs to be hired for any future movies or live action shows featuring battle sequences and especially lightsaber fights. The fluid switch between force powers and sabers is flawless, the abilities on display are much more exciting to watch and they fights in general just have you on the edge of your seat. Having someone like Ray Park in Episode 1 was a huge boost and its why that fight with Dark Maul was so good (if you ignore the end), which was recently proven again in the Clone Wars fight with Ashoka and Maul. I'm really hoping in future projects they find a way to cast actors as Jedi with a martial arts background and bring in quality choreographers to write the fight scenes so we can get stuff like we see in the animated games or shows in live action.
It definitely feels like a no-brainer to hire people with martial arts backgrounds, I mean Disney hired Tom Holland as Spider-Man because he’s a skilled gymnast so why dot get a skilled duelist for your Jedi / Sith?
I’ve been following the old republic for years, and I have never heard anyone complaining about the fact that satele Shan is a woman, who is the grandmaster of the Jedi order. The fans of and respect strong characters, whether they are men or woman. Kathleen Kennedy puts herself on a stool thinking she has done somthing amazing by creating Rey, when fans have been loving man strong woman characters for years. However unlike Rey, they are well written and believable characters, that serve more than just being a token strong female character.
The issue is Disney making it a 'selling point', strong *realistic* female characters have existed for a long time in Star Wars. Satele's grandmother, Bastila Shan, Fay, Siri Tachi, Ahsoka Tano, hell, Leia in the first five minutes of her appearance shows much more nuance than Rey shows in the entire first movie of her debut. Rey, and most of the Sequel Trilogy characters are mostly one dimensional, which is a shame, because the concept of the ST had so much potential and it failed so horribly.
Elless Dee hm... I’ve been doing some RUclips searches... apparently they didn’t try talking about her and ray seems like a topic a RUclipsr can do right?
@@cubeddoubled1543 The problem was they didnt add the same level of internal conflict and doubt wed seen from the successful characters, Leia started out as a rather arrogant character who the others struggled to get along with, she grew from that and became a more charismatic figure, Han starteed out selfish and only concerned with covering his own back, this changed to him being a leader in the republic fighting for a cause bigger than himself, Luke was a self doubting character who grew to have a great deal of self belief and faith in those around him. Rather than give us something new the new triology not only rehashed this but reverted everyone back to who they were before A New Hope, it made the prior trilogy feel pointless given that we start the force awakens in the same place as A new hope - personally id have liked a more equal footing between the First Order and the New Republic in a post empire galaxy ,
@DraculaCronqvist It is not Disneys fault it is Kathleen Kennedy, the only thing I could see Disney do stop a film like this is because it is too dark and they want familiy friendly films.
@DraculaCronqvist nah give credit to the original creations in Disney. In 2010's Disney has been only remaking original IP's because Iger depends on fans to make profit, not creative talent
I think John favro is doing the old republic time line because d and d thankfully bowed out. I would like to see Star Wars free of the Skywalker tropes and dive into the mythology of the old republic it is so varied and full of interesting characters which honestly are way more powerful and better crafted
Man, Darth Malgus' fighting style is a pure joy to watch, such an overwhelming brutality. And also the "Welcome home" in the end. Love SWTOR trailers to bits, every single one of them.
That’s definitely form Five, using very aggressive offensive attacks with minimal defense, which is why the Jedi master was winning the first half of the fight by keeping him on the defensive. Soon as he grabbed his master’s lightsaber, and charged at him, enraged and using the force to amplify his abilities, it was over.
No, a Star Wars movie should have interesting characters, a complicated plot and duels with actual tension, not this loud noises, lightsaber porn & silly cartoon fight nonsense.
RHEINLAND FILM I loved the "lightsaber porn" as you referred to (in this trailer and the prequel trilogy), BUT I agree with you, wholeheartedly, about Episode VII needing DEPTH! One part in the original trilogy, that I thought was VERY deep, was when Luke asked Yoda (in concern) whether the Dark side was stronger. Yoda seemed somber and hesitated for a second or two (as I remember) and said "No." He gave the answer with such a solemn tone, that you'd expect him to have said "Yes." But then you KNOW why he was so solemn when he adds, "But, it is the more SEDUCTIVE." *Whoa, was that deep!!* And for Episode I, Darth Maul should have had WAY more lines, and DEEP lines! So, again, I 100% agree with you about the damned prequel trilogy, should have had more DEPTH and emotional character strife. My friend told me about a scene in the comic books, and DAMN that scene should have been in the prequel trilogy!! Darth Maul survived, being cut in half, and either has prosthetic legs, or a prosthetic waist module, joining his two halves (or something), and challenges the post-Obi Wan-fight Darth Vader, as the Emperor's apprentice. Darth Maul says that he senses in Vader, a small bit of the Light side of the Force, and has the potential to go BACK to the Light side. Darth Maul then says, that he has crossed completely over, so therefore has MORE hate, than Vader. They fight, and I think Vader seemed to be losing. Then Darth Maul gets very shocked when he senses MORE hate pouring out of Vader, than he originally detected. Vader has one last blow to kill Darth Maul, where Darth Maul asks in complete confusion, as to what Vader could possibly hate SO MUCH, that even with his little bit of the Light side of the Force, has MORE hatred pouring out of himself, than Darth Maul had. *Just before he kills Darth Maul, with the final blow, Vader says... "My... SELF!"*
easy way for Disney to get the SW fans back *Disney fires Kathleen Kennedy* SW fans: "hmm, maybe you do have some ball's after all" *Disney replaces KK with Jon Favreau* SW fans: "okay, not bad. You're actually making competent choices now" *Disney makes the fanfic trilogy non canon* SW fans: "best outcome you could come up with" *Disney makes EU canon again* SW fans: "and all of those potential stories that you coulda made have come back and you could actually make a lot of money from" *Disney stops stealing fan art and passing it off as their own* SW fans: "finally got your heads outta your ass and realized that stealing is wrong" *Disney actually keeps to their word of being 'woke' and makes it clear to China to stop altering posters including black people by shrinking them down* (dont believe me? look at the normal TFA poster then look at the altered Chinese version) SW fans: "oh wow, you finally stopped being full of shit"

I think the part the made the biggest impact for me is at 4:21, where he stabbed the sith dude. Look at his stance. Despite the flashy nature of the fight, it still feels like the choreography directors (or whatever you call 'em) understand sword fighting to some degree. The "blade" going into the siths abdomen also blocks the lower blade from the sith. His second blade held above his head to block out the sith's upper blade. This is something you rarely see in movies, games, or trailers. Big fucking kudos.
***** Well, in real life you don't use lightsabers at all. I meant it's nice that they put some practical thinking into the choreography beyond being flashy.
+ZeD The funny part is, when I was a child, I always wanted to see that happen. Use only one blade on a double-bladed lightsaber and extend the second blade just in time to finish off the opponent. So when I saw it in this scene, it was amazing.
"Go Satele, you must walk a different path" always stirs me, such an elegant way of saying "I'll hold them back, as your master it is my responsibility to protect you and the message for the counsel, and if it means giving my life for the success of this mission, I am fully prepared to face it without fear nor remorse of any kind, this is the way of the jedi".

Well the new films aren't exactly cheap to make and even though this animation is amazing, expensive quality, they'd save money hiring lesser-known voice actors instead of big name actors (even mid tier actors can ask for a lot of money) and not paying all the usual film necessities (cameras, stages, costumes, etc). I don't think it would be that much different financially than the live-action ones they're doing now. I think it would take forever though. Supposedly a single scene that spans a few seconds inn Blizzard's awesome CG work takes several months, so I can imagine an entire 90 minute film would take several years easily.
This level of animation is perfect for a Star Wars movie not too much to take you out of the story like clone wars but just enough to make the lightsaber battles and force moves look really fluid and beastly
That moment in the ending is a traditional Sith moment - an apprentice training is finished only, if it can kill it's own master. Some hold back the final strike, and instead of killing it, just damage it on a level, from it cannot heal back to the level, where it can make a proper revenge, but only, if they have a place for them in their future plans.

Kylo then kills Snoke and claims his role as supreme leader.

In addition, if similar to the cinematic, she would have given Anakin's lightsaber to Luke and he would have gone out with both his green and blue saber. Giving Kylo possession of these 2 lightsabers could set up his struggle against the light further if they wanted to continue that storyline, as these 2 lightsabers can be considered lightside artifacts.

Kreia obviously referred to the Purebloods Sith like Vindican, and she mentioned them like they were so powerful, even more than Revan and Nihilus and etc. And when they just kill Vindican and shows the rise of Malgus here (a human), it symbolize the complete opposite. KOTOR 2 made us think that the true ancient sith were still around, but SWTOR writers simply just... Gave up the idea? Idk. They gave me the impression that there was multiple great powerful pureblood sith there, but in reality only Vitiate was TRULY powerful. As someone who's never played an MMO before and started playing recently, I agree. I fucking love this game and the Old Republic era. We need a modern game set in that time period.
Yeah, but then they'd have to ignore the "established canon", since a crapload of it runs contrary to TOR. Cortosis, for example, isn't lightsaber resistant anymore, it just protects against blasters. All lightsaber crystals are "kyber crystals" and blade color = Force alignment (both of which are two of the most retarded explanations offered). Korriban is now "Moraband" (which sounds dumber) and the only saving grace there is that Disney has grudgingly allowed it to have been Korriban in the past; Malachor is a place, but it's not Malachor V and it's not destroyed as it was in KOTOR II. Some of the best stuff in the Star Wars EU, the Old Republic Era, has been wiped away because of Disney. Not even bringing back Thrawn makes up for it (especially since it means he's in that godawful Rebels cartoon).
I'll add that the absolute greatest Star Wars character of all time isn't Thrawn (although he's definitely in the top 10)- it's Kreia. And she, too, was removed from canon. A true travesty.

mindsoulbody Well think of it this way The Sith, are the ultimate cause of disruption theyve ever had. And the sith is whats wrong. If the Sith have been gone for millenia, then the jedi would not know when a bad feeling per say, could be that something is truly wrong. Theyve grown ignorant due to the Siths' hiding. They didnt know much about them, like when it came to actually fighting them they were out if their league. Because for a thousand years they adapted to the absence of sith to fight. and became diplomats, and mediators. peacekeepers, law enforcers. they could no longer fight a sith threat if necessary. But the force didnt leave them entirely defenseless, the Force gave the Jedi Kenobi the skill to fight a Sith. And the Force gave the Jedi a living being with massive potential. But the masters of the time of TPM were ignorant and egotistic as well as narcist. Thats why they had to be taken out. Thus the death of Jinn. and many others who thought like he did.

Plot

And what about the smuggler working with T7?
Can we just talk about Satele for a moment? Her master tells her to leave him behind to die, and what does she do? Does she do the whole "I can't leave you..." Shtick? Nope. She just did exactly as her master told her without complaint or protest. When she sensed him die, she took a second and then just continued focusing on her escape, saving the grieving for later. Why don't more protagonists act like this? (Not that Satele is a protagonist of the game, but of the trailer). Actually focused and determined rather than just whiny...
Because movies are written for angsty children these days.

Total Force Unleashed vibes
this trailer really exemplifies why the sith always lose. they don't lose to the jedi because the jedi are necessarily stronger, they lose because they weaken their own forces constantly with bids for personal power, which usually involve betrayal.
The Sith were weaker. The dark side is easy and fast, users can gain power much faster. But the light side is stronger. Obi wan said it best: those who oppose the dark side are stronger than you could ever imagine. The force yearns for balance, but In nature it leans towards the light
great comment
How can I feel more attached to characters that Ive seen for not even 5 minutes than any character in the entirety of the new star wars trilogy?

Yoda seemed somber and hesitated for a second or two (as I remember) and said "No." He gave the answer with such a solemn tone, that you'd expect him to have said "Yes." But then you KNOW why he was so solemn when he adds, "But, it is the more SEDUCTIVE."
*Whoa, was that deep!!*
And for Episode I, Darth Maul should have had WAY more lines, and DEEP lines!
"My... SELF!"*

They should make a whole movie like this animation
But it would be ridiculously expensive
As if with the help of social media and word of mouth hysteria people won't flock to watch it
Well the new films aren't exactly cheap to make and even though this animation is amazing, expensive quality, they'd save money hiring lesser-known voice actors instead of big name actors (even mid tier actors can ask for a lot of money) and not paying all the usual film necessities (cameras, stages, costumes, etc). I don't think it would be that much different financially than the live-action ones they're doing now. I think it would take forever though. Supposedly a single scene that spans a few seconds inn Blizzard's awesome CG work takes several months, so I can imagine an entire 90 minute film would take several years easily.
Except they had some pretty well known voice actors work on this game.

Kylo then kills Snoke and claims his role as supreme leader.
Pretty much how it should be

In addition, if similar to the cinematic, she would have given Anakin's lightsaber to Luke and he would have gone out with both his green and blue saber. Giving Kylo possession of these 2 lightsabers could set up his struggle against the light further if they wanted to continue that storyline, as these 2 lightsabers can be considered lightside artifacts.

Vidican however was a nostalgic
he sought to bring about an era not unlike the Sith Golden Age, before the great hyperspace war, during the reign of the first Emperor, Marka Ragnos
this era was a utopia for the sith Vidican desired to retread on past glories
Malgus however sought to expand upon that, he favored an ambition to seize whatever he wanted and flatten anyone who got in his way(which is inevitable, with as large of a reputation as a would be emperor and lifelong sith lord would amass a plethora of enemies)

@@thedude3065 I see you're a man of culture, who's played SWTOR (which I play too).
(Also, sorry for only replying months later)
If there's only one thing I hate about SWTOR lore is that they contradicted Kreia in KOTOR 2 about the "true sith" hidden.
That's one more reason why I see Vindican as a wasted character, he could be the symbol of the hidden true Sith Empire. But no, we get Malgus, who's a human, vader lookalike. That make SWTOR's Empire looking a copy of OT Empire.

As someone who's never played an MMO before and started playing recently, I agree. I fucking love this game and the Old Republic era. We need a modern game set in that time period.
Disney would be a bunch of idiots to not make an Old Republic Netflix show. Think about the following they'd have :\
Yeah, but then they'd have to ignore the "established canon", since a crapload of it runs contrary to TOR.

How is it the Padawans are the ones sensing what the masters can't? Satele in this, Obi Wan sensing something wrong in the beginning of Episode1. No wonder the masters are dying lol.

KalibreSteelblast So they let go of all things that binds a man to mundane things, yet they can't let go of their pride and ego. Seems like they got the entire gist of "letting go" wrong. Too much proud to be able to see things clearly...sounds like they are the bigger enemy to themselves than the sith to them.
mindsoulbody Well think of it this way The Sith, are the ultimate cause of disruption theyve ever had.
Kao Cen Darach is such a badass, wish we could have seen more of him.
