The music of RR1 makes you feel like a motivated badass, way more so than the other RR game's music. This game clearly deserves music remakes and you did such a great job with it.
Playing that full synth section with the octaves and not having to adjust the notes after I can appreciate as a pianist myself. I would definitely have to go back and edit/quantize a few.
This video does a great job of showing why Road Rash was/is such a fucking blast to play. Really nice remake as well, definitely amps the excitement up a few notches.
The heaviness of this just feels so right, but it's the synth that makes it complete. If I was told this was Rob Hubbard's original recording before converting it down into chiptune format I'd absolutely believe it. Great stuff as always
I'm listening to this for the sixth time and thankful for you basically covering all the three original Road Rash games, and I think these can be used in emulators and flash carts with the MD+ (MSU-1 like) feature. I wish the original composers listened to these as I'm sure it will put a smile in their faces.
I recently just started Road Rash again. Was wondering if people did some remix for that awesome soundtrack, and I'm not disappointed with the result at all. Pacific Coast is my favorite, you really nailed this remix, especially the synth part from 3:35.
Thank you for such a lovely comment Denis! So glad you like my version :) It's such a rich track, I spent such a long time on it because I wanted to get it 100% right without losing the original vibe! Hope you have a great day!
@@DeanHarrisComposer Yes that version, those licensed soundtrack only play on cutscene and juke box while in game play they have it own sountrack.I'll give soundtrack link for it.
I hardly ever like remixes and take the time to comment because the vast majority of people do not know how to keep the essence of the music, it is not about a copy-paste approach but think with the mind of the composer and add a slight personal touch, I can note every nuance of the original one and effort put in the tracks and other ones that I have managed to listen this far. Congratulations on this achievement!
Huge thank you for lovely comments! I grew so frustrated with remixes of my fav games were always "changed" so I set out to make a kind of "remastered" version of these albums the way "I" would want to hear them! So amazing to hear feedback from people telling me they "noticed" this, you have made my day thank you again! If you would like the albums please check me out here deanharriscomposer.com
Спасибо ребята это моя самая любимая музыка из первой части Road Rush и вы сделали крутую работу. Сохранили первоначальное звучание и доработали до того звучания каким я запомнил его в детстве
I just did a random 'Road rash pacific coast' search which I basically do annually to see what pops up on RUclips. Now this version was lurking here for some months. Definitely gonna check out your full RR coverage I see mentioned below in the comments!
After listening to this at least 10 times in one day, in my very humble opinion (without even being a patreon of yours; money is tight, sorry!) the ""solo"" at 02:35 sounds off. Not in the notes, but the actual sound is quite distant to the lead that I remember for the game (which I played like a maniac) and it sounds very distant in the mix. Just a humble opinion; I am a HUGE fan of your work, Dean since Gas Guzzlers and the fact that you are paying homage to one of my favorite sagas in gaming does not have a price. But if I didn't mention this and get it out of my chest, I wouldn't never be able to sleep properly again! :D
Thanks so much for the feedback Martin! I think I know what you mean! I maybe should have just stuck with the creating the sound on keyboards instead of guitar because I am somewhat limited with what type of sounds I can make on the guitar itself, and making a guitar sound exactly like a synth is TOUGH lol! but also, part of my decision was trying my hardest to make all of my RR covers have a unified sound accross all of them, a kinda of Deano signature sound if you will :) but with the outro being already on synth I felt guitar was the best choice! Anyways I really appreciate your feedback buddy! Hope you still listening to them regular! Look out for the next one dropping soon :)
@@DeanHarrisComposer thank you so much! Hey! A fan for life here. Once you release the album; I’ll buy all 3 for them. 😁 super interested in your take on Eternal Champions! AMAZING soundtrack for a hidden gem in the Genesis!
I want this game remastered. I love going back to Road Rash 2. The first one, not as much because I've owned the second longer. The 3rd game just didn't age as well with the digitized sprites, so I still don't own a copy today. So many memories with these two games, though.
Damn dude, you really are incredible at this. Been subscribed for a while now and you NEVER disappoint 🙌🏻 You deserve hundreds of thousands more followers. I hope you achieve it 🙏🏻 Much love from Australia 🇦🇺
Despite not playing much RR1, (I own RR2 and rented RR3 a lot back in the day) this track hits hard. It reminds me a lot All for One by Stryper or Care A Lot by Faith No More, but not excessively 80's-ish, lol! I never thought I'd say this but the bass of the drums sounds great after each guitar and synth solo with a good subwoofer! Just when we think you can't get any better you amaze us! Can't wait for the rest of album! Rock On!
I love the heaviness of this version. Fantastic job mate. Uhh… I actually feel bad asking such a question, but at any point are you planning to make your music purchasable on platforms like Apple?
Thanks so much Dan!! This one was tough as I wanted REALLY tight guitars to suit the ultra slick synths! Ooo Apple? how do ya mean bud? I have regular Flac and MP3 on my site, but i'm not too sure how to get them on apple, I can certainly look into it though! I never thought many people would even want them to be honest, so I have been so overwhelmed to see all this feedback!
@@DeanHarrisComposer I’ll have another look on your website mate, but for me personally, apple would be the easiest way to purchase your ace work. But whatever works for you chief. Please keep up the most excellent work.
Nasty! I like how you can see you playing on the right like that! Do your albums have the sound effects in them or are they removed? Really awesome remakes of all these songs! It’s perfect! Got that Genesis sound! 😎🤘You gotta do Kid Chameleon sometime! Great music on there too...
Wow thanks Brian! :) Thats the hard part is keeping the original feeling but adding more! Ah yes the actual albums are just music, I only ad in sfx for the videos of the gameplay! Also the albums have some final mixing/mastering to enhance them sonically. I usually do this process right at the end when all the songs are finished, so that I can properly judge them against each other. You know I really must check out Kid Chameleon! I didnt have that one as a kid but would welcome any links you have?
@@DeanHarrisComposer Hey man! Road Rash games were awesome back in the day! Kid Chameleon was on Genesis and has that classic Sega sound too. @@DeanHarrisComposer That's true! Nowadays we have VGM Music Maker or Deflemask to 'compose' in tracker style, in the 90's they got to program the whole thing, sometime in assembly!

You achieved the 16 bit sega "boing" guitar technique!!! Love it!

One thing you did amazingly that other artists didn't when covering this song was the accurate deep scratchy pan flute sound.

Most of the "Remixes" are the MIDIs played back with more reverb or trashy soundbanks. Or just add stompy "club music" beats on top..
It would be appropriate to find a way to insert this work into some road rash hack, it's phenomenal.
