      @@Beekind799 If you don’t have medical and research credentials and studies to back it up, you shouldn’t be making claims like “it’s easy.” People have tried that and it failed them, so it’s clearly not the magic bullet that you claim. It’s irresponsible to spam these sorts of comment on every video.

    This is quite fascinating, especially where we were a few months ago. In the States where I live it is grey 8 months out of the year with long winters. During Covid the lack of socialization and grief many felt due to loss of life, I was suffering a personal loss pre-Covid, so someday I felt double the brain fog. The long, dark winter was akin to a Greek tragedy with most gyms closed. As we reopen those with LC almost have to go through a reentry process, much more drastic than other people due to the isolation. In the meantime sleep, breathe, meditate and downward dog. Speaking of dogs, just caring for my dog has kept me active and provided me socialization, as he is very aware to my emotional state. Whatever works for all of you!

    I missed this one when it was published, but it’s fascinating to watch now. I’m not an elite athlete but was an extremely fit 50-something when I caught Covid (eg VO2max 50.6, measured in uni lab, a month prior to infection). I’m a healthcare worker and was infected on my then ward, while working 6-7 12-hour shifts a week. I was also away from home and studying at post-grad level. I was cycling, running, Nordic walking, doing weight training and doing HIIT. I was eating healthily and making sure I had my rest days (although my idea of rest is often someone else’s busy). When I was in hospital with Covid, X-rays and ECGs found I have “athlete’s heart”, and a cardiac consultant said “your fitness almost certainly saved you, if you’d been a typical Scottish man of your age I’d probably not be talking to you”. But I went on to develop Long Covid before being diagnosed with Functional Neurological Symptoms due to Covid. I’ve had little support from the NHS but my training includes clinical exercise physiology and I have an interest in using physical activity to manage neurological conditions. With many of my previous activities ruled out by FND symptoms I’ve gone down the neuro-plasticity and new activity route. Interestingly, slow, deliberate movements are extremely difficult but faster ones are more fluent. I’ve taken up rowing and it’s challenging but do-able. And if I fall off, I’m much closer to the floor!!

      athlete's heart ? are you referring to an enlarged heart cause of endurance sport environments?
      I've got this ,its totally fine for now but, been told its not good for later in life, when blood volume decreases naturally so you can have a situation where the blood sortof pools in the heart and clots can form.

    I've been saying this for a year now. As a lifelong athletic person, I got Covid-19 in March 2020 and it changed not only my metabolism but my ability to train at any appreciable level. Oxidative stress, nutrient depletion, "overtraining," sleep deprivation, and other factors common to extraordinary performers / athletes have to be involved in MCAS...

      Huge oxidative stress. I have M.E. and my oxidative stress was described as similar to someone undergoing chemo.

    Parent-of-toddler stress here. It just wasn't possible to rest properly in the initial infection.
    Plus (no one seems to talk about) covid really messed with my perception of how ill I was. I had "mirage" hours of feeling recovered when I wasn't, in first few weeks. So overdoing it was exceptionally easy. Virtually unavoidable.

      Same here I was helping my family in a meantime I was so ill and I think this is the main reason why I cannot fully recover. Any tips someone what to do?

      I thought if I wasn’t dying I must be fine. Also, my whole family were ill and I was the least ill, so I spent all my energy looking after them. We shouldn’t beat ourselves up about this. We did what we thought was best. I just tell myself now “It is what it is” whenever I start to blame myself.

    Good suggestions for the randomised trial method - I think the biggest challenge is going to be he need for longitudinal data that can be useful for future treatments. If, as some are suggesting, LC has a 3-5 year time frame we then risk seeing recovery from the time factor rather than any specific interventions.

    I recently started running again for the first time in 8 months - I've been seeing an occupational therapist and she's had me doing an amount of activity that mildly triggers my symptoms but doesn't cause a full flare up. I record my symptoms and energy levels multiple times a day and keep my fatigue at a constant 4ish out of 10. Each week we push it a little further, and my threshold for flare ups seems to have increased massively.
    It's worked a lot better for me than purely resting (which drove me insane!) or just trying to get back to normal activity (which made me so sick I was on bed for days). It takes a bloody long time but worth it.

I'm able to work more now and just finished my phd thesis, plus I'm running more (just back from a 50 min run, best I'm managed in long time!). I wish the process was faster but at least I'm feeling hopeful that I will make a full recovery eventually

    RUN-DMC your videos have been so helpful I cannot thank you enough for the information provided by you it's beautiful.
    My GP's still don't understand and don't provide anything for help. I've found that tapping therapy and antihistamines have been the biggest help in flairs which in my case is inflammation brought up by any form of exercises. And I used to be a strong Zumba fitness goer. Keep doing the good thing you're a beautiful soul.

    Wow, thank you for this series, & specifically, this detailed interview! Very encouraging & so important to understand more of what's going on in long haul patients. I love that you asked about hyperbaric oxygen therapy. I think all therapies need to be on the table when it comes to long Covid. I've also heard of long haulers seeing progress with Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation therapy, likely bc it also oxygenates the blood. Keep up the great work!!

    I made a comment a while back on experimenting with water fasting to combat my Long Covid. I was suffering with debilitating fatigue and PEM that would leave me unable to do the laundry. Breathlessness, the lot. Life felt on hold for the best part of a year. I did a 3 day water fast (with salt/electrolytes), and can now happily say my condition is cured. Resolved 95% within a week of the fast, brief minor recurrence of very mild fatigue for a few days here and there, now 100% gone. Just a case of rebuilding strength and cardio now. Can do full strength training sessions as per pre Covid, no PEM to speak of. I’d highly recommend people to try this, with proper research and advice from a doctor. Any questions, I’ll do my best to help. May everyone recover as fast as possible. Cheers 🙂

      Thanks for sharing that, I'm 4 months in and would love to find a way too fastrack-qicken my recovery. I've been loading with B vitamins (nutritional yeast etc), I eat clean, going for nature walks, getting proper sleep etc. What I am noticing to be helpful is getting back to socializing as much as possible. I also do 1 hour of grounding as often as possible. I've also taken the time to source out and eliminate as much EMF, wireless and radio frequency radiation pollution from our home as possible, particularly our bedroom. (very Important) I actually shut the power off to the bedroom at night, that goes for the wifi too! Also got rid of the cordless phone, back to using corded phones. I feel as though I am Improving but at a glacial rate-pace. That lockdown effed up the human race IMO, the isolation set many people up for this sickness. I've had health hurdles in my life but nothing even comes close to whatever this syndrome really is that's smashing peoples lives. Thanks for sharing your experience with water fasting, I am going to try it, I haven't fasted in quite some time but am familiar with safe water fasting.

I wouldn't worry about EMF; I haven't seen any evidence that they cause any significant problems other than a negative placebo effect, i.e. a self fulfilling state of illness bought about by stressing over their presence.

    Please try to get a neurologist on here. I think that sometimes my heart palpitations are not really my heart beating any different but that my sensory system can feel the heart beats. Idk if that makes any sense, especially after getting normal results after wearing a holter monitor for 15 days. Also joint pain and inflammation.

      I get palps in random spots on my body when I take huge deep breaths. As if there is a short circuit of energy - a blip, so to speak. Like a hose being pinched then let go of. Very odd.

      Wood mentions the energy production by mitochondria but does not mention energy production by myelin. I would like to hear a neurologist talk about the recent discovery that myelin is not primarily an insulator of nerves but an energy producer. Existing myelin makes ATP which also recent research shows is needed in nerve impulse generation. Here's the thing: In rats cytokine storm induces acute copper deficiency. If there's a lack of copper, all the cuproenzymes can't function. Oxphos relies on cytochrome C oxidase, a cuproenzyme. Both in mitochondrial oxphos production of ATP and in extra-mitochondrial ATP production by myelin, myelin's chief role - to supply ATP to the axon & for remyelination. To produce 1 gram myelin it takes 3.3x10^24 ATP, that'd leave less ATP for nerve impulse transmission, or alternatively lack of ATP for replacing myelin / nerve damage. Additionally, copper chelation studies in rats with cuprizone indicate lack of copper causes release of iron intracellularly from stores, causing mass free radicals, damage, ferroptosis. Copper deficiency can explain many of the neurological issues and more in longcovid.

    I happened upon a comment by a chap in the Long Covid facebook group, saying that honey was really helping him. I have had horrendous histamine intolerance for around 5 months (worst symptoms include tongue swelling and visual disturbances) but I started taking some raw locally produced honey a few days ago and I cannot believe the improvement in my illness!? I even ate a bag of Grace Plantain Chips yesterday and there's no way I could've managed them before, even with DAO supplements. I'm also taking Vit C and D, Magnesium and Zinc with Copper, but honey has been amazing for me. I've just ordered some dark forest honey to try too, but I wondered if you've heard of other cases where honey has really improved symptoms?

    Would be nice and helpful to have a table showing what treatments/ approaches people tried out helped to get rid or ease of what kind of symptoms. The pattern of symptoms are different to everybody and treatment must be individually puzzled together.

An app for patient reported outcome could be basis for data collection or a registry. also specialist could report treatment progress. You can do research on both ends. Starting with understanding the pathology and document what helps. In the very past, pharmacological science was built up on the second approach. Agree it’s not the most elaborate one but as long the disease is fairly understood it could help.

    Betaine/TMG (not HCL) can provide methylation support, and a glycine/creatine precursor at the same time. Might also be worth considering. Though, when the metabolism shuts down due to NAD+ deficiency, these pathways will shut down all together and a separate supplementation of the metabolites might be more helpful then.
    Regarding heart and liver, it's worth considering their high histamine load when they aren't fresh from the animal. For MCAS patients, other nutritional sources might cause less side effects. I think many of the metabolites for membrane support and formation can be concentrated from plant-based lecithin.

      Same here. Some days are so bad I'm 36 feeling like I may due at the moment hands and feet burn. So lightheaded cannot think. Freezing all the time. Idk how long I can hold on and nobody believes me our helps me. I been supplementing and went to ER 8 times. I stopped going since they wont do anything anyways.

      @@RUNDMC1 Before long Covid, never so much as a sick day off in my life. My character was such that I'd soldier through just about anything. I'm ex military, and as an ex Reuters Cameraman covered just about every war in the last 3 decades.
      I've never bowed down to either the stresses of life nor have I ever succumbed to self pity. One could say I had a reputation for being a bit of a strong character.
      Covid (and I have absolutely no idea how) has literally given me what I can only describe as stress related anxieties. To the point that when I am hit by one of these attacks I can barely move my neck, the headaches are horrific and I have the most inconsequential panic attacks.
      I have no idea how on earth to break this cycle. Whether it is asymptomatic or a genuine effect of the virus on my brain.
      I also have no idea who to speak to, my GP seems somewhat perplexed by long Covid full stop.
      Very interested on what your take is and can't wait to see the interview.

    I know looks can be deceiving, especially with an invisible illness such as this, but you do look like you're taking care of yourself. How have you adapted to this illness? I'm 14 months in now. I'll have periods where I'm functional and periods, like now, where I am insanely fatigued and depressed. Sleep has also been a problem. I'm curious as to what your routine is. What do you take, eat, etc?

    I never had any grace prior to covid but after is even worse! I am so un co ordinated, bumping into stuff, knocking things over and off surfaces, and the worst one for me, keep dropping stuff. Which means I have to pick it up and that's hard work right now! And my balance is terrible. I love yoga and can't wait to get back to it properly. I'm doing some stretches but I'm not strong enough to hold most yoga positions at the minute. It's xmas day where I am so HAPPY XMAS!

    Thx. Covid since April 13, 2020. About 20 symptoms. Antihistamine diet has mostly stopped the rashes and itching. Very active 71 pastor w/ 14 hr days. Under tremendous stress as national whistleblower now doing court cases. Eat little, yet can’t fit into clothes. Can’t sleep, must use antibiotic cream daily, Really can’t function very well. Thx.

    Long Covid is so similar to M.E. It has to be the same illness. I’ve had M.E. for 14 years and long Covid symptoms are basically identical. When will long Covid patients start to be diagnosed with M.E? Usually it’s if symptoms persist for more than 6 months. My onset was also viral.

    I would agree that a run down or over taxed system makes you vulnerable. The morning before I got Covid from a gathering in the afternoon I did a 62 mi road ride and then even during the time I had Covid I was still riding even though it did not feel that great. You get used to pushing yourself as a cyclist. I blame that for my long haul symptoms. Now I can't go up a flight of stairs 9 months later.

      @@Beekind799 I agree my energy system is not working. I have tried 4 doses of Ivermectin with zinc and while I was on it I felt better and a few days after but revered quickly. While it did make me feel better I still had the same energy envelope or barrier. I also am just coming off fluvoxamine. That has helped me more than IV but still not able to get past a threshold ceiling of energy usage. The fact that both of these drugs helped tells me it is cytokine related but not completely. The NAD system is still broken, so I need something to fix that. I take all of the typically stuff like D, C, zinc, quercetin, selenium and even niacin, but not working. I also take N.A.C.

      @@Beekind799 Hello! Thanks for the detailed comment! Yes, I am a long-hauler. I have tried NAC in the past and it made me feel bad. My body reacts strangely to many things. And I have tried to get Ivermectin, but the doctors here in Spain blindly follow the WHO... and they just get angry when I ask. I also had a bad reaction to quercetin. That is why I am going back to basics and trying to solve the absorption and adsorption issues caused by the damage to the GI tract. The bug attacks the ace-2 layers in the duodenum and ilem. These are the entry and exit points of the bile system. That system shut down and now I am trying to repair it so my body can absorb energy correctly from my diet. It is a theory of my own, based on personal experience and studying a mixture of topics. I will give it a couple of weeks and see how it goes. If it goes well, then it might also help my body "accept" the NAC or other substances.

    I have taken aswagandha recently for 3 days now. Finally the sleep became better! before I always woke up early every day because of hormonal imbalances.
    Also taking fresch herbs like thyme and oregano is actually quite powerful.
    However I can really recommend taking some type of adaptogen, they work on the glandular system and lowers stress, and have no side effects that are known of.

    Interesting. Had the long for about 18 months the vax kicked all the symptoms. I started working out again and then the rash came back from that and mental stress that left me sleep deprived. Just the rash none of the blood issues or organs shutting down. Niacin is still a huge help.

    So interesting! At or just before 12:00 mark: Possibility of prolonged excess zinc supplementation leading to copper deficiency & copper (& B6 & Vitamin C) being important in clearing histamine. (So possibly - ?? - helpful to check copper level or just take a little copper if doing a trial of low histamine diet and H1- and H-2 blockers for long covid or MCAS but haven't seen much success so far.)

    I found this interesting thanks . Self fulfilling prophecy .... If you don't believe you'll recover , I don't think you will . However with this illness , it's so hard to stay strong and positive when we wax and wane all the time .
    Breathe work / pilates have really helped me with my mindset and I've been doing a daily brain training ( Peak App ) to try help with my issues around executive functioning .

    My husband and I got Covid in January, then got tested twice and confirmed (1st test came back negative) to have been positive in February. Spent Valentines Day in bed, and not in a fun way. I’m almost completely ok now. He still doesn’t feel right. He still can’t taste or smell most things. He also got VERY sick from the vaccine recently. Aside from my period being affected, the vaccine didn’t make me sick at all. I worry that he has long Covid, and I wonder what can a person do to help another person get over it aside from encouraging better sleep & eating habits, taking vitamins, etc? Learning a new skill. Hm! Good idea. I’ll sign he and I up for pottery classes. Balance. What about one of those balance board things?

    Apart from oxidative stress in cells, have you seen evidence of metabolic stress due to excess lactate accumulation im muscle after strenuous exercise? This can be created by a switch to aerobic glycolysis in cells induced by some viral infections, in this case the SARS CoV 2 virus and this can cause other conditions like changes in membrane permeability and decreased mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation leading to mitochondrial dysfunction. Also, another long COVID symptom, dysautonomia, may be triggered by increased stress from sympathetic stimulation, while yoga or music can help by the countering effects of parasympathetic action.

    I'm in Canada and at the 3 month mark with relentless MCAS my doctor just keeps telling me i need more rest. I'm doing my own thing without advice.. kinda sucks because who knows if this continuing disfunction can become permanent or worsen?

      @@RUNDMC1 my own thing is following the basic protocol for MCAS, h1 and h2 antihistamines, plus a low histamine diet and the regular stack of vitamins. Here in Canada no doctor will recommend anything except water and tylenol. I was at the ER twice in the first month and both times i overheard doctors telling patients the exact same thing like a script, "why are you here? we can't treat you, you know there is no cure for Covid, it's all up to your body to fight it alone, go home drinks lots of fluid coffee tea hot chocolate water" this was Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. The videos I'm watching on youtube with DrBeen and others ..they are saying that in the first few days of a positive test they are getting people to immediately go on H1 and H2, ivermectin and fluvoxen (sp) and this will help avoid long covid. ... because i was healthy before, running, construction working, i had a mild case of the virus, i wasn't told any preventative measures. ... i just had a relapse after feeling very good and now I'm totally depressed, i won't be able to return to work (construction work electrician) for a very long time because it will trigger fatigue. I don't know if i will ever be able to return to work again.

    The hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a very interesting approach for long haulers.
    Maybe, to correctly evaluate the eventual benefits, the placebo group could have pm10, pm2;5, No, NO2, O2, O3, RCO, RCO2 and all the other crap we normally breathe, pumped into the chamber. Place a few objects that are giving of VOCs and a toxic air freshener, just to be a bit nearer to a placebo, than medical grade oxygen at atmospheric pressure.

      @@anabrdar8798 Hello Ana. Shortly after I wrote this, I had a major relapse due to unrelated COVID events which triggered the COVID symptoms and set me back. However, I am well on my way to full recovery. I can walk a couple of miles easily and I began regular 30-minute workouts in the university pool. On top of all of that I am active all day - physically and mentally. When exhaustion hits it is a good exhaustion that allows me to sleep. The pain is no longer like "ice picks" jabbing into my skin but a normal level of pain. (Stretching helps immensely. I am about to start my yoga again.) Building up my exercise slowly, listening to my body, omitting/limiting foods, learning to say “no" and instead taking care of my body, my mind, and my spirit has made a major difference. I make time to rest as I need it, even if that means putting my feet up on a chair as I work. I make personal affirmations and post them around my home and at work. In fact, the wall behind my monitor at work looks like a color explosion. It makes me smile, brings me joy, and keeps me motivated and productive by placing obstacles between me and external negativity that I cannot avoid. Listening to music is key as well. As I write this, compared to some people I am fully recovered. I was just extremely active before. The COVID gut is the last obstacle. That is beginning to go as well, now that I am able to cook, perform targeted exercises, run errands, and carry a full physical/intellectual work day all in one day. Pacing yourself and giving yourself grace is key to recovery!

    I just would like to comment that I’ve had covid relapses and an array of different symptoms since my initial infection 9 months ago. I was previously of great health, and during the initial infection I happened to be exclusively breast feeding and sleep deprived from having to care for an infant. I truly believe that was a major factor as to why I’ve developed long covid syndrome. Would love to read about any studies that might link the too.

    So far I have tried, an array of vitamins, low histamine diet, fasting, autophagy protocols, graded exercise with the Nuffield Health recovery programme. Currently undertaking the Gupta Programme and doing a HBOT session per week, vagus nerve stimulation using a specialist tens unit. It's the dysautonomia that's a nightmare to fix, although beta blockers are a life saver with the heartrate issue. Hoping that if I throw enough at the wall then something will stick.

      This is yet to be established - most of the neurological symptoms can be attributed to immune dysfunction / inflammation. HBOT will be most likely helping with mitochondrial function.

      @@RUNDMC1 Thankfully most of the long COVID symptoms have abated with a 3 month course of prednisone. It was given for something else but I won't complain about the outcome! Still have the crushing fatigue/tiredness and still on supplemental oxygen.
      Then, it's assumed my autoimmune disease (which is undifferentiated) is running amok as I have tracheomalacia (my trachea collapses when I exhale) and just had surgery to correct a tracheoesophageal fistual (a hole connecting the trachea and esophagus.
      THEN, this past weekend I was in the hospital with blood clots in both lungs as well as one of my calves.
      Every time I think things are calming down, something else happens.

      @The Pirate I developed major sinus issues post COVID. The issue became so severe that I was ill from Feb 9th to April 27 and completely relapsed to a physical and cognitive level comparable to just after my nearly 3 month battle with COVID. Finally seeing an ENT to see if we can resolve the issue. However, dietary changes have helped my GI issues immensely!!!!!

      To be fair to doctors though, they are front line resources and are very constrained by what they allowed to advise or diagnose by their governing body (eg NICE in the UK). We're in unknown territory and need to rely on research and some self experimentation in the meantime

There are studies and trials taking place under controlled conditions, we are at liberty to volunteer for these to help speed along research efforts.

    Thanks for your amazing work on this, a godsend for all of us suffering. I do wonder where I fit in this puzzle though. I have POTS and CFS but all following my Pfizer vaccine. I work as a radiographer in the NHS so I assume my viral load was high and was stressing my body with a lot of cycling at the time. Interesting that I ended up in the same place from the vaccine rather than the virus. I’m so confused as to why the vaccine has essentially given me long Covid !

      this is disturbing ,this is what happens when these animals give an untested unsafe vaccine to someone with a weak immune system,the only response a weak immune system can give is a bad one,it will spit out cytokine storms,they can kill you

      Same for me. I suffered a bad set back after my second vaccine and it was a month ago and my symptoms are stronger now than ever- esp neuro

      I had one dose of Astrazeneca and three days later woke with terrible muscle aches to the point I struggled to walk, plus peripheral neuropathy, and more. I feel worse than I did before the vaccine as a long hauler since March 2020 (no pain before that). 12 weeks later I'm still struggling but at least I can walk. The muscle aches are a killer though. A neurologist told me to avoid the 2nd jab 'with a bargepole' to quote him. I'm sorry to hear you've been landed in this problem. Will you take your 2nd jab?

    Putting a prolonged period of stress on muscles while holding yoga poses is not so good for fatigued muscles. Tai Chi would be a better choice.

      I think the yoga recommended is much more gentle and mostly breathing focussed - it’s not level 3 vinyasa!

    HBOT system that the public can get access to is a total waste of time , if its a clear type "tent" you gonna have to stay in there for days at a time to get any benefit. I think the pressure is only 1.8ATA I if I remember correctly. you need to do this under the MAX o2 Partial pressure to get a proper 02 saturation that'll last for hours in your system (bout 24hrs) till it works its way out of you.
    you only gonna get that in a dive chamber setting costing a bomb at a time.
    if you try do it in those little o2 tents and up the pressure you're looking for trouble!!
    Although they both in the same category of HBOT ,they are worlds apart!
    rather do one treatment in a proper setting than 10 sessions in something that's not up to doing the job needed.

    Creatine was found to increase airway inflammation in soccer players with asthma. I found it increased my allergic reactions, same for my daughter.

      @@samjarea It seemed to lower the threshold for reactions and caused an increase in frequency and perhaps severity - but it did not do anything drastic like cause anaphylaxis. I had a similar experience with shiritaki (konjak - main constituent is glucomannan) noodles, which is interesting since glucomannan did the opposite in a mouse study of allergic rhinitis. The packaged noodles may have accumulated a lot of histamine.
      Creatine has brain benefits, so it sucks it had this side effect for us; it may not be the case for everyone so if people want to try it I would just suggest they start at a very low dose and don't buy a large quantity - and maybe ask their doctor first.

    I would like to know
    A) suffering LC for nine months now and Having reduced my meat intake , I had a HUGE BEEF STEAK last week and felt amazing the day after. Coincidence?
    B) Is homeopathy im taking likely to help or is it not where I should be looking?
    C) Super healthy before, NOW , dizziness , tinnitus , cognitive deficiency, thirst and fatigue. Should one fear LONG TERM NEUROLOGICAL effects or sequels later in life? Im 50 now and fear seeing this affect me in later years ? Is There HOPE for the opposite?
