It was said in Prizoner of Azkaban that Peter wanted to hang around a wizarding family so he could hear when Voldemort came back. Interesting to think of why he chose the weasleys specifically though. Maybe because he knew they weren’t very wealthy, had also just had a new baby, and wouldn’t question a free magical pet for Percy?

I wish they could’ve had Lily and James portrayed in the movies as people in their early 20’s cause that’s how old they were when Voldemort killed them. It looks like they’re middle aged when they’re murdered, but I think they were born in like 1959-1960.
That probably has a lot to do with when the movies were made; the first few were done before we even had the 5th book, so the relative youth of the characters in them wasn't as crystal clear as it was later on. That's why the teachers all look older than they should too. There is no reason why JK Rowling didn't correct them though; maybe they just thought it would be more thematically impactful if the adults looked more like the parents of the young fans watching.
it also fits with Harry's "death" in the forbidden forest. Harry- "yes but I meant to die, and that's what did it, haven't you noticed how your spells and curses aren't binding on them, they're protected from you, you don't learn from your mistakes do you Riddle?" not the exact quote but close enough
I had not thought of that aspect of it. However, I always had a problem with that. While Voldemort's spells were not binding, they still took effect at least temporarily. Also, Voldemort could not "touch" Harry because of the protection of Blood. He states he can "touch" him now when his body is regenerated in the cemetery. I'll have to look at the wording of what Dumbledore told Harry about the protection his mothers sacrifice gave him but I thought it was that while Harry could call a blood relations house home, he was safe from Voldemort there. I don't remember him saying he was safe from him elsewhere, just while in the care of a blood relation. I don't think Harry's "sacrifice" invoked the same kind of protection, especially since none of them are "blood" relations. I think Harry was talking out of his ass at that point. Figure this, when Voldemort's spells were no longer binding on the crowd of people, 6/8ths of his soul was destroyed already (Book, Cup, Diadem, Locket, Ring, Nagini, Harry and the fragment residing in Voldemort himself). Only the fragment in Voldemort himself and the fragment in Nagini remained. I would think his power would be greatly reduced at that point and it's more why the spells are failing. In Order of the Phoenix, only 1 of Voldemort's Horcrux's were destroyed so only 1 part of his soul was truly departed. That wouldn't have as much of an impact on his spell casting ability as 7/8ths of his soul would, I would think. Plus, we only have Harry's word as to his spells missing or not having a lasting effect being a result of his "sacrifice". They could have missed based solely off the skill of his opponents. Slughorn, Kingsly and McGonagall were dueling Voldemort. Kingsly of course being the best Aurra (sp), McGonagall being well a teacher whom is quite good at Magic and Slughorn another teacher. It's not like Voldemort was dueling slouches.
@@KhawChing You, like many people, are confusing the blood bond charm with sacrificial protection. The blood bond charm was placed upon Harry by Dumbledore when he left him on the Dursley’s doorstep and invoked when Petunia took Harry in even grudgingly. This charm is what prevents Voldemort from getting at Harry away from Hogwarts. It AMPLIFIES Lilly’s sacrifice but it is not supposed to be lumped together with a willing sacrifice-as in, intent to die for a person or people-that shields the benefactor(s) from harm. The blood bond charm which Dumbledore placed on Harry-as he states in The Lost Prophecy Chapter of Order of the Phoenix--is what breaks when Harry turns 17. Lilly's sacrifice lives in Harry forever. As for Harry's sacrifice, I don't think he was talking out his ass; I just think that the number of people it ultimately benefited meant that it was less powerful than a mother’s everlasting love for her only son. Anyway, I hope this clears up any confusion about this I see people always forget that the blood bond charm was Dumbledore’s doing and although closely related to sacrificial protection these two things are in fact separate magic from each other.
@@KhawChing you are wrong in a way. At that point Harry was more voldemort than voldemort himself. Since every horcrux doesnt have equal soul. First time he spilts it, the diary get 50% and the next time the horcrux gets 25% so practically at that point of time. Harry had 1.25% and voldemort had 0.52 %.
“ Well, you split your soul, you see, and hide part of it in an object outside the body. Then, even if one's body is attacked or destroyed, one cannot die, for part of the soul remains earthbound and undamaged. But of course, existence in such a form... few would want it, Tom, very few. Death would be preferable.” Except it does not say it rips the soul into 2 equal parts each time. Only that a part of the soul is hidden. How much that part is, we don’t know. There is actually argue me to that the part of the soul is the same “size” each time a horcrux is created. Dumbledore saying that Voldemort had split his soul to a point where it was unstable and thus part of his soul making Harry a unintended horcrux. The conversation with Dumbledore in the train station in the last book again mentions just a price of the soul. Not half of whatever soul remains.
Because he wanted to fight for his family hoping that he can kill or hurt Voldemort so that him and his family can have time to get to a safe place or to at least get out of the house and a sacrifice can only work if the person doesn't have an intention to fight or to pick up their wand but to just sacrifice themselves. That's why his sacrifice didn't work, he had an intention to fight voldemort while Lily did not. PS. i wrote this before watching the video.
That is right. Dumbledore even kinda explain it on the limbo, when Harry "died". The sacrificial protection has 2 pre-requisites: 1- Being a deliberate choice while having the choice to save yourself / 2- Not trying to fight while doing the sacrifice.

I always thought that: The love protection thing, could only happen when the person is offered to live but they choose not to, in the name of love for whoever they're protecting. So that's why it happened for Harry, cause Lily choose to die in the name of protecting him. Whereas James wasn't offered, and was outright killed.
He wasn't shot in the back, he also chose to hold him off. Lily had either invented some blood magic, or the power Voldy knew not was Snape's love for her and breaking the promise to spare her backfired. I don't buy that she was the only magical mother who didn't show the terrorists which way the nursery was and run, let alone the only person to ever die to save a loved one, especially in a war. Otherwise every mother who died of childbirth and every soldier to didn't run away would have produced at least two generations of the population who were immune to AK.
@@KashyaCharsi i could be completely lying, but I am very sure there is something online (official of course -- at least according to my memory) about how for a love spell to work, the killed needs to be offered the chance by the killer to live, hence voldy asked lily to step aside and he'd let her live, but she of course chose not to. Again, I could be completely making this up
Severus was the reason Voldemort died, he made it so that she had a choice. If Severus didn’t make that request Harry would have died. Severus is the Hero of the story in a way…
Snape asked voldemort to spare Lily's life so yes, James was going to die that night, plus I think that he chose to fight if he could reach voldemort he would throw himself on to him and he would have struggle with him but Lily just stood there shielding her son with no intention to fight the dark lord or step aside, she chose to sacrifice herself out of love and had no intention to fight and made sure to tell harry how much loved he was by her and his father and I think that a gifted witch like her who knew about life for example what she gave to slughorn as a gift, she created life of a fish... in my opinion she knew exactly what she was doing or at least what she was hoping to achieve
Yeah, and I like to think that she used some sacrificial ritual that she prepared for this occasion. And that the magic would only activate if the sacrifice is done willingly to protect another etc. Lily seemed like a smart woman, and I doubt she fully trusted Wormtail, and so she made sure to create a trap in case the worst-case-scenario happens.

I feel that Harry may have grown up and become cocky like James was as a boy. Especially knowing he was special, in the wizarding world he would have been treated special by his mum, dad and those who knew he was the one who would need to kill Voldemort.
True of anything i think that Harry's parents dying made him the Chosen one i think that if they would have survived Neville Long bottom would have been the chosen one
One thing you missed - Lily used the old magic and that combined with love saved Harry. After resurrecting in the graveyard, Voldemort himself said - "It was an old magic, I should have taken care of that".. Something like that to Harry himself..
I've never quite figured how Voldemort managed to physically leave the Potter house with a severely damaged body. He had to use Quirinus Quirrell's body for support. Later he had to rely on Pettigrew for support after Quirrell's death. So how was he able to walk away from the Potter house?
Didn't he leave in spirit form? His soul was literally ripped from his body. Besides, would the wizarding community really end the hunt and take him for dead if they hadn't had a body to prove it with?
yes, its´s magic so old and powerful that it is almost forgotten. I think the enchantment comes from the willing sacrifice in order to protect ones life when having the chance to not die. that way your "will" in form of magic will live on. it´s so strong since you didnt have to die, but you did. your will to protect and your love was so strong, that it manifested itself in magic that will keep protecting even if you die. in a way you conquer death so to speak. Think of death in harry potter, which is some kind of entity considering horcruxes, souls, limbo, afterlife and the deathly hallows. It seems offering your life to it, even though you dont have to, is key. only the biggest sacrifice will be accepted by death. and only that will save another life from it. and to make that, you need to love someone more then yourself.
If lily hadn't loved Snape ( as a friend but true love nonetheless), if Snape hadn't loved lily, if Voldemort hadn't "cared" for Snape , harry wouldn't have survived This particular love magic required all of this
And we see the same scenario in the final battle when Harry not only makes the decision to give himself up in the forest but also to not even draw a wand at the last moment.
My theory. The protection is in Harry's Blood which is why Voldemort wanted Harry's Blood. Harry has protection with someone of Blood relations so long as he can call their house his home. Well some one of Lilly's Blood relation since it was her Blood then invoked the protection. So it's all down to Blood. James and Lilly are married but they are not related by Blood. The next part is this. Why did James death not give the protection of Blood to Harry? James was not given the option to leave and live. Lilly was. So James did not chose to die in spite of Voldemort giving him the option to live because Voldemort did not give him that option. Therefore, Lilly chose to die for Harry thus creating protection of Blood with those Harry is Blood related to through Lilly. Now to watch the video and see what your theory is.
video idea Once lily and james found out they had been betrayed, James tries to hold voldemort off enough time that lily could grab hold of harry. It specifically says that once lily got harry she locked the door and started blocking the door with obstacles, so my question is: "How come lily didn't just grab harry and disapperate out of there?" That would have saved both hers and harry's lives, so why didn't she do it? If there is an obvious answer in the book that I just can't remember then please corect me
This is my speculation so bear with me; 1.) I think apparation is easier with a wand, and due to James just getting killed, she doesn't have her wand, is very scared, and has Harry to worry about, i feel like she either couldn't do wandless apparation or was too scared of splinching herself and Harry 2.) Maybe babies cannot safely be apparated since its already too uncomfortable for teenagers and adults, so maybe its too dangerous for infants, this would explain why Dumbledore had Hagrid take Harry rather than apparating Harry to the Dursleys directly
Also if James knowingly tried to slow down Voldemort wouldn't that be also a sacrifice and i don't care the choice or not because he could of also leave and not get killed he choice to protect Harry. He knew what he was doing or the consequences
JK Rowling has said this isn't the entire truth. It's also how he was raised. Sure he was conceived without love, but he was also raised without love. She has said if his mom survived, things could have been very different.
I somehow thought that killing curse was aimed at Harry and lily came in between so that's why sacrificial protection came up..........and for James it was aimed at him only....so no sacrifice Means if It was being aimed at lily or harry and James came in between then his sacrificial protection may work.........my views
I have a theory in my mind before watching this video , "james was going to hold voldermort defending himself or attacking voldy with bare hands ,but in Lily's case she didn't defend herself or try to attack voldy ,but trade her life for his son" so that the sacrificicial protection worked , its completely my assumption.
JK Rowling's statement about no mother being willing to sacrifice their child seems pretty naïve. I've seen the news enough times to know there is no shortage of cruel mothers out there. I'm sorry to anyone out there who has to deal with such a thing
I always thought it had something to do with a mother’s love being stronger than a father’s. From the time a woman becomes pregnant, her self and the child have a bond formed. I’ve heard before that when a baby is being held against their mother’s bare chest after being born, they can sense that they are being held by their mom from the mother’s heartbeat (if that makes any sense to y’all). So I think that may have been a factor as to why Lily’s love protection worked on Harry than a love protection for Lily & Harry from James.
Sorry, but this is utter bs! Fathers are very much able to love their children on an equal level as mothers do, now they might express it differently at times, but that in it of itself doesn't mean that one parent loves their child less than the other.
James didn't have a chance. To react. He went to see what the noise was and was murdered. Probably never seen what hit him. Voldemort proceeded to walk into the room demanding lily to step aside.
@@yahirmh8423 but Voldemort didn’t give James a choice to live so he didn’t really sacrifice himself. Whereas with lily he was gonna allow her to live because of snape but she refused and was willing to die to protect her son I.e. giving Harry the protection

@@LeonardoMartinez-ge2qn but in that sense it’s not really a sacrifice either way James running or him fighting would have always resulted in Voldemort killing him-there was no way he’d be able to run when Voldemort came unexpectedly. So yes James was brave to put up a fight against it all but it’s not really a sacrifice Where as lily had a real choice to walk away and live (albeit alone) but she gave this up all to protect harry
I think the reason why Voldemort gave Lily a chance to live was maybe because Snape had pleaded with Voldemort not to kill Lily but rest of the family...
Most definitely, it’s why James didn’t get the chance. Even after Snape pleaded Voldemort not kill her, he found her dead and it destroyed him. That’s the reason he became committed to helping Dumbledore against Voldemort
The enchantment Lily employed that night was of an extraordinarily ancient and intricate nature, eluding easy comprehension. This spell (Morélle-hid-eros), derived from the profound essence of motherhood, established an unbreakable bond with her son through their shared bloodline. This connection ensured the protection and survival of her offspring, fortified by a potent force of love that Voldemort could never fathom. Such a feat was beyond James’s capabilities, as he did not share Lily’s blood. Consequently, James could only hope to delay Voldemort’s advance without the aid of a wand, for the magic he summoned was intrinsically linked to his love for his family, a completely different enchantment from that which Lily Potter invoked on that tragic night.
Question about the Statute of Secrecy that could be made into a theory: Uncle Vernon clearly knew in the first chapter about the Wizarding World. Was Petunia allowed to tell him, as the brother-in-law of a muggle-born witch, or, if the ministry knew he knew, they would have sent people to put a memory charm on him, and get Petunia to keep her mouth shut? If the latter, would being the guardian of a wizard (Harry) have been enough to let him know, or, would, ironically, if the Ministry had been keeping an eye on the Dursleys, would he have actually thought that Lily and James died in a car crash until Harry's Hogwarts letter came? TL;DR, using the Dursleys as a case study, what kind of relationship with a witch/wizard would allow a Muggle to know?
Great video! I have a question and I’m not sure if it’s a plot hole or not, but when the ministry were trying to catch Sirius, why didn’t they simply send an owl to him and follow the owl’s way? Hedwig always knew where Sirius was even though Harry didn’t. I’m curious about your opinion.
I think there comes their special connection into play. Sirius went into hiding from the ministry, but not from Harry. And their bond meant that Hedwig was able to find him, wherever he was, but an owl sent from the ministry would at best have flown to his last known address and at worst shrugged its shoulders with a puzzled look and returned the letter immediately. Probably there was a 'return to sender' charm active - with the means to exclude certain senders, like Harry.
Video idea : What if Snape never heard the prophecy and therefore it was only known by Dumbledore ? Voldemort would have never been disappeared, but Harry's parents would still be alive (and not actively hunted by Voldemort) and Harry would still be the chosen one. Maybe Harry could have grown in a very different magical Britain, ruled by fear (a bit like in the Seventh Book) and would grow up to be the new hope of the Resistance ?
I feel like if snape didnt hear the prophecy, then harry wouldnt have been the chosen one. It seems like self fulfilling prophecy to me. No loving sacrifice, then no power?
Isn't it interesting that this means that a chain of events created by Snape's love did Lily is what ultimately lead to the Dark Lord's downfall? He set quite a bit in motion, unintentionally, but in motion non-the-less.
I JUST FCKN LOVE YOU AND YOUR CHANNEL! COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT THIS. if you care, maybe I would have some questions, or rather like theories to think about... Through my questions. I have at this moment: "what if"-s.
So...the reason is because Joke Rowling was low-key hinting that a mother's love is superior to a father's love because. Just because. Destiny or some other nonsense, outside of reason or his control.
From the Conjuring. The most evil form of darkness didn't survive in front of the purest form of God made bond? And what's that bond. The love of a mother for her child.
I have a question related to this. When Voldemort was destroyed by the Avada Kedavra that rebounded because of Lily's loving sacrifice, it means that he technically died, but actually didn't because he had horcruxes? Or did his fragmented soul fall appart from his body and hide somewhere else, as a person (Quirrell?) or an object?
A theory: I think that the only reason why he gave Lily a choice, was because of Snape. You said in a previous video that Voldemort felt sorry about killing Snape. I think because of Snapes helpfulness, Voldemort wanted to give Lily a choice, not because of her, but because of Snape. What do you think guys?
Well, its not a theory, thats literally confirmed, Voldemort actually admitted to listen to Snape's request of not killing her but she wouldnt get out of the way
Snape did NOT over hear the whole thing. He only heard the start. It's a pretty key part of the plot as its what lead to Voldermort acting, thus marking Harry as his equal and resulting in his original downfall.
*Meanwhile in King Cross after Harry Dies* Harry: Professor, i died, so everyone will be safe? Dumbledore: Um, 'bout that, i think it was the cradle Harry: B-but you told me for years it was my mothers love Dumbledore: Harry, im fucking old, i cant turn back time and watch how the events specifically happened with my own eyes Harry: We had time turners that literally do just that! Dumbledore: SHUT UP HARRY
I know you know this and we do to but, Snape didn’t hear the entire prophecy and Wormtail was made Secret Keeper by Sirius as he thought he was a more likely target.
So basically, by asking Voldemort to spare Lily, Snape sort of punished him for her murder, since without Snape asking, Lily wouldn't have had a choice either. Snape keeps being the greatest character in the series.
It's very upsetting for me that James coming in the way between Voldemort and his family is considered a lesser form of a sacrifice just because Voldemort didn't offer him a choice. Say if Voldemort did offer him a choice to walk away would he ever do it, he clearly wouldn't. Thus, it's pretty shitty that love protection can only be created basis if the attacker is intending to give you a choice to live or not. A person's bravery and sacrifice alone is not sufficient enough to give this protection. So for no fault of James, it will always his wife's sacrifice that will be honoured and credited for saving baby Harry and his efforts will bear no fruit. JKR jus throws James under the bus to overcome the plot hole 😭
“ To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure. “ - Albus Dumbledore , Philosopher Stone PS: Cause Lily choose to die and had a choice while James didn’t. PS: I love your videos
Until this video My idea is that James was killed to quickly to say any spell, Lilly had time to go up shut the door and cast The loving sacrifice spell before Tom got up the stair and opened the door.
I think there s another explanation that makes a bit more sence here - but I understand that this is the "authors approved" version. I believe that his secrafice "went off" when Lily decided that she secrafices her life, as if she said "If Harry is about to die, I don't want my husband's protection" and so the protection does not work... if you know what I mean
In the BOOKS Snape doesn't go to Godric's hollow bc he didn't know the Potter's location, of course-it's in the MOVIES they show Snape crying over Lily's dead body
Interesting question: What if voldemort had encountered Lily first upon entering the house, the sacrifice would have still occurred, Voldemort asking Lily to step aside, Lily Refusing and Voldemort killing her. But in this scenario she should have placed the protection on both Harry and James. This means that Voldemort would be disembodied upon attempting to kill either of them. In this case Harry would have still had 1 parent. How would this have changed the story?
In my mind, this also raises the question how Harry's sacrifice offered the same protection for all of his friends and family. James wasn't given the choice to live or die as much as Harry wasn't. Voldamort fully intended on killing Harry, no matter what. I guess you can say at the time Harry had the choice to run away and save his own life, or stay and give it up.
What if voldemort was going to take out both families. The Longbottoms were known as better fighters, maybe he was going to take out the longbottoms next.
If Voldemort had successfully killed Harry then he would've went after the Longbottoms next. Voldemort marked both families for death but when it came to who was first and second he chose the Potters to be the first (since their child was a half-blood like Voldemort himself).
This is the reason why Neville could not have been the chosen one, even if Voldemort had decided to kill him instead of Harry. The only reason why Lily got to showcase her love for Harry was because Snape had begged Voldemort to spare her. Voldemort offered her to stand aside and live just to do one of his deatheaters a favour. So, had he chosen Neville instead, it is more likely that Frank and Alice Longbottom would have found themselves in the same situation as James had which means that Neville would have been completely unprotected.
In one of the books, Trelawney tried to figure out when Harry was born based on the positions of the planets, and she thought Harry had been born in mid-winter, even though the prophecy she made had said that Harry was born "as the 7th month dies." Was she never told about the prophecy or its contents?

Rowling wanted Alan to play Snape, so they made everyone older.
I thought there was also the idea that everybody looked older than they were because of the stress of the wizarding war?
I think why portrayed them older because they really wanted Alan Rickman to place snap
@@shreksimp8944 Why do people never read a thread before commenting the exact same thing as someone above them?
it also fits with Harry's "death" in the forbidden forest. Harry- "yes but I meant to die, and that's what did it, haven't you noticed how your spells and curses aren't binding on them, they're protected from you, you don't learn from your mistakes do you Riddle?" not the exact quote but close enough
Voldemort whose #1 fear is death, was defeated by Harry "The Master of Death"
Death would be preferable.”
Except it does not say it rips the soul into 2 equal parts each time.
I think the perfect answer is that lily casted an old magic which when accompanied by sacrifice can become a protection.

I always thought that: The love protection thing, could only happen when the person is offered to live but they choose not to, in the name of love for whoever they're protecting. So that's why it happened for Harry, cause Lily choose to die in the name of protecting him. Whereas James wasn't offered, and was outright killed.
i watched this before the video. so these are my initial thoughts :)
Makes no sense
But James did still knew he would die. He wasn´t just killed but also willingly sacrificed himself to buy Lily and Harry a bit of time
He wasn't shot in the back, he also chose to hold him off.
According to Rowling lily didn't know what her sacrifice would achieve because it has never happened before.

I feel that Harry may have grown up and become cocky like James was as a boy. Especially knowing he was special, in the wizarding world he would have been treated special by his mum, dad and those who knew he was the one who would need to kill Voldemort.
@G E T R E K T 905 I mean there potential that he may have became similar but I’d say more like James

One thing you missed -
Lily used the old magic and that combined with love saved Harry.
After resurrecting in the graveyard, Voldemort himself said - "It was an old magic, I should have taken care of that".. Something like that to Harry himself..
Love your videos man
I've never quite figured how Voldemort managed to physically leave the Potter house with a severely damaged body. He had to use Quirinus Quirrell's body for support. Later he had to rely on Pettigrew for support after Quirrell's death. So how was he able to walk away from the Potter house?
He didn't his body was destroyed but because of his horcruxces he was still alive and was able to use quirrells body eventually

I want to see what would’ve happened if Voldemort chose Neville’s house instead of Harry.
If lily hadn't loved Snape ( as a friend but true love nonetheless), if Snape hadn't loved lily, if Voldemort hadn't "cared" for Snape , harry wouldn't have survived
This particular love magic required all of this
For gods sake lily had a choice she choice too save her son
Funny that Voldemorts willingness to show mercy in the end cost him his live
And we see the same scenario in the final battle when Harry not only makes the decision to give himself up in the forest but also to not even draw a wand at the last moment.
Harry is a straight up g
James knew he was gonna die if he stood up to Voldemort regardless
video idea
Once lily and james found out they had been betrayed, James tries to hold voldemort off enough time that lily could grab hold of harry. It specifically says that once lily got harry she locked the door and started blocking the door with obstacles, so my question is:
"How come lily didn't just grab harry and disapperate out of there?"
That would have saved both hers and harry's lives, so why didn't she do it?
If there is an obvious answer in the book that I just can't remember then please corect me
There isn’t answer in the book but maybe with the fidelius charm you couldn’t dissaparate
This is my speculation so bear with me;
1.) I think apparation is easier with a wand, and due to James just getting killed, she doesn't have her wand, is very scared, and has Harry to worry about, i feel like she either couldn't do wandless apparation or was too scared of splinching herself and Harry
2.) Maybe babies cannot safely be apparated since its already too uncomfortable for teenagers and adults, so maybe its too dangerous for infants, this would explain why Dumbledore had Hagrid take Harry rather than apparating Harry to the Dursleys directly

Voldemort can’t love as he was born as a result of a love potion

I have a theory in my mind before watching this video , "james was going to hold voldermort defending himself or attacking voldy with bare hands ,but in Lily's case she didn't defend herself or try to attack voldy ,but trade her life for his son" so that the sacrificicial protection worked , its completely my assumption.
I just thought he died too quickly to be able to have the mindset necessary
Still a sacrifice James was trying to protect Harry regardless that's a plot hole

I feel like it was more of a whoops I forgot about that kinda thing

But Harry wants protected by love after he was 18,as far as I know. So maybe it could be that too, that love protects a child's innocence.
Also, was Snape allowed to tell Lily she was a witch before her Hogwarts letter? What about saying it in front of Petunia before Lily's letter?

Oh what the heck, i didn’t know I was 1 minute early before starting the video 🤣 wow

I don’t think her sacrifice would have worked for anyone but her child. We love our spouses but it is not comparable to our maternal instincts
@jbear3478 that's possible but I guess it would have depended on her intention when she made the choice in her head
@@jbear3478 What do you think it would've been like if Voldemort killed Harry
In my mind, this also raises the question how Harry's sacrifice offered the same protection for all of his friends and family. James wasn't given the choice to live or die as much as Harry wasn't. Voldamort fully intended on killing Harry, no matter what. I guess you can say at the time Harry had the choice to run away and save his own life, or stay and give it up.
Never realised Voldemort gave Lily the choice ON BEHALF OF Snape! 😮👍
So Snape saved harry
In one of the books, Trelawney tried to figure out when Harry was born based on the positions of the planets, and she thought Harry had been born in mid-winter, even though the prophecy she made had said that Harry was born "as the 7th month dies." Was she never told about the prophecy or its contents?
mid winter cuz She sensed ye' old tommy boi in Harry. The horcrux of tommy boi of course. And thats book 3
James is everything snape would never be, mature, loving, kind, and a good person.
What? You are implying that snape doesn't understand love after everything he did for Lilly's son? Whatever. I respect snape more than james. Maybe you forgot the word 'Always'
@@toyeager6234 Moron snape literally asked voldemort to spare just Lily. He was willing to let an innocent baby die just so his obsession could live. That’s what Lily was, an obsession. James is a far better man than snape. James actually matured and stopped being a bully. Snape never did, he remained a bully and continued to bully even children, so much so that he became Neville’s worst fear. He didn’t do shit for Harry because he was a good person. He projected all his hate for James into a child who did nothing. Despite the fact that James saved his life from a werewolf. He only helped Harry because he was obsessed with his mother. There’s nothing to respect about snape.
@@Auron1Roxas2 yes he bullied kids but there is still something to respect snape. It's not just obsession it's pure love, that's why he continued to love her after she married his enemy. If anybody else were in snape's place he wouldn't do that . Snape helped harry everytime he didn't know , he was the double agent but truly loyal to Dumbledore since after Lilly died. He helped harry to find the sword of Griffindoor. Say whatever u wanna say but snape is my favorite character and deserve to be otherwise harry wouldn't named his son Severus ." He is the bravest man I have ever known "

@@Auron1Roxas2 Snape was cruel to Neville for this reason: if Voldemort had chosen to go after Neville rather than Harry, Lily would still be alive. To Snape, Neville was a living reminder and representation of his guilt from revealing the prophecy to Voldemort and the potential alternative for what could've happened, and as a result, from Snape's point of view, Neville embodied all of this and that made him detest and bully him.
Where does this channel get his information from ?
It's called theory, but often he cites things that sound like facts. (not refering to this particular video)
Is it pottermore ? Because i was trying to look up some things that he mentioned in other video and just couldn't find any hints to that ...
Good job on the James and lily’s timeline
Someone may have looked into this but in Sorcerers , how were Charlie Weasley’s friends able to fly onto Hogwarts grounds to get Norbert?
2:28 he still has his Disapparating ability
Skip to 5:21 for the answer.
I always saw it as James’s intention was to fight (albeit wandless) so he died fighting Lily as the video stated chose to die.
Maybe you've done this... but there's a question that has been bugging me... If Voldemort knew of the prophecy, why did he want to retrieve the prophecy from the Mistry of Magic in The Order of the Phoenix? Maybe if I'd read the books, I'd already know the answer, but I honestly couldn't even get through the Philosopher's Stone.
Why didnt james put the feddelius charm on himself? or use the unforgivable curse on wormtail?
Because plot holes. Or maybe self-charm is way less powerful yet still working like in Bill's case.
@Oof Oooof69 I guess so he was a good guy and all that.
