Hands down, one of the best songs Billy has ever written. I didn't think it could get better than the guitar-heavy version from Machina II, but this is mind-blowingly so.
I wish this cleaner, tighter sound was on the machina deux version...I love that version too, but it's so distorted..the beauty of this song couldn't really fight it's way though all the fuzz of the machina ll mixing...why BC mixed all of that free album has always been beyond me..it never added anything to a single song on there, but on the contrary, drowned them out. Love this song and SP
kster2244 It's a shame really, I mean you can even hear that the songs are good, but there's just too much going on in the songs, Billy did TOO well making this album, I guess.
Personally I love the way Billy distorted the songs for Machina II. If his final cut of the Machina 2-disc concept album ever gets released (and at this point it doesn't look good) I'd be disappointed if he'd take away the distortion. Especially the spacey version of Saturnine I think is amazing (although I'm not sure if it was ever meant to make the final album tracklist). Anyway this version of Let Me Give The World To You is great, but I think the Machina II version is better.

There's a sweetness to this song that i'm in love with. It's a side of the Smashing Pumpkins that I fell in love with on Mellon Collie, and even though it first showed up on Machina II, this has become my favorite version of this amazing song.
@@MrAmc1291titre trop radio diffusable et pas assez dérangeant pour le suicide du groupe. Enfin je veux dire que adore est un super disque surtout apprécié des fans.
It’s a nice song but Adore was a very dark album. Perfect is in fact a song about breaking up “I promise we’ll be perfect strangers”. The Tale if Dusty and Pistole is the closest thing you have to an upbeat love song, but even that song is full if melancholy.
It needed another strong single but I don't think 'perfect' really cut it. Songs like 'annie dog' and 'crestfallen' and 'behold the nightmare' could have been cut. The album was too long, but there is some great stuff on it namely 'to Sheila' and 'daphne descends' which could have been turned into singles
Great song. I think Adore is great. But one can think “what if”, in a few regards. What if Jimmy hadn’t gotten into deep drug troubles and fired? What might the record have sounded like with him playing drums?
i think this version need more guitars but its a great song. Fun that its well produced. I love the song and machina ver as well one of his best songs.
I agree with Billy that this wouldn't have really fit on the record and not as a first single.. but I also don't agree with him that Perfect is avant garde (although the lead into Daphne Descends is sublime).. In the end, I do not think this would have been a big hit. Maybe as a last single, it could have slow burned into something bigger. I compare it to Good Riddance from Green Day. Basically released at the same time (the album) and it didn't initially sell that well until Good Riddance was released as a single. Could argue that song didn't fit on that album either.
pancakerepairman thank you... so many people here seems to forget this fact ... he didnt include it cause it was too radio friendly, he said it many times
Billy was a fool not to make this the lead single. He went on to say Mellon collie's singles made a perfect transition from the older Pumpkins sound of Bullet with Butterfly wings to the electronic sound of 1979. Adore could of started with this then descend into the gloominess of the rest of the album. I don't understand how someone can release an "Avant-garde" album, then complain when it doesn't sell and the band falls apart. This song was a lifesaver, but Billy just had to jump the late 90's gothy Manson/NIN bandwagon.
Obviously it's not Jimmy Chamberlin playing on that song. It's way too messed-up to be him. He would never have played it like that. I prefer that version of the song though.
I understand why it wasn't on Adore... certainly it doesn't fit the album. This version feels incomplete, too, especially the ending. The approach to the song is dead-on here, though.
Spot on , maybe cos I'm s drummer but they are all over the place, I was thinking my judgement was clouded by listening to the Machina version first but its not
Billy certainly had one of the best songwriting tool-boxes of his generation... So many sounds are distinctly his. Oh the 90's...
If only he could sing better...

Who you calling a tool box?
This is easily one of the best songs I've ever heard. This is great pop music. Such a shame it was never officially released.
It was officially released, on the deluxe version of Adore that came out 5 years ago.
It's the first track on disc 4 or 5
Hands down, one of the best songs Billy has ever written. I didn't think it could get better than the guitar-heavy version from Machina II, but this is mind-blowingly so.
yeah, i prefer this version, is more clean, but machina version also its good, tahnk for comment dude
Yeah, most of machine II's songs are too distorted to listen to, even despite that, I still prefer the original

Train wrecks hide underneath your umbrella
Accept a frame
Destiny and on first name soliloquy
Tired symphonies play down on
Let me give the world to you, my love
Let me give the world to you, my love
Let me show what I'm thinking of
Let me give the world to you my love
And I wouldn't change a thing oh no
No, I wouldn't change a thing
About the way you are
Distance here to speak so far, so far
Lovers with dead excuse
Blur the line with soul abuse
Lonesome hearts just have no use right here
The new skin holds us in
As the old skin turns us on
Flicker-fade but not trade down to end
Let me give the world to you, my love
Let me give the world to you, my love
Times are hard and we're the last in line
'Cause in my grief, I've forgotten what was mine
And I wouldn't change a thing
No, I wouldn't change a thing
About the way you are
Distance here to speak so far, so far
Let me give the world to you, my love
Back when he was able to just toss gems like this aside for the B-sides. He wrote so much back then it's no wonder he struggles now.

Vous pouvez ajouter Cyr et Atum qui sont très solide. Les gens n'aiment pas le choix de production et les synthés mais les chansons sont bonnes

People always love the heavy, but I love this too. It's easy to listen to and puts me in a good mood. He makes some beautiful songs.
+Sheldon Benton exactly, you also need to mix in some quiet & lay back songs as well.
crazy how many demos/ b side songs Billy wrote that would literally be radio hits if they were released. The pumpkins don’t get enough credit
Such a beautiful version! It feels like so very post Mellon Collie and Pre-Machina :)
Gato Mercado yup, that would be Adore
The version in Machina II is even better!
this song warms the heart like it's christmas time when you were a kid
Great version! I do understand why they didn't put it on the album though. It wouldn't have fit anywhere on it.
The New Wave sounds very “Machina” actually
I love this song.
god damn! if this were released back in the '90s it would have been in the song list for Karaoke Revolution: American Idol Encore for Nintendo Wii
I dig this song so much. Hope they play it on their next tour.
Should be a single.. Even now. Amazing song!!
It was supposed to be the first single from Adore, but Billy pulled it off the album b/c he didn't want the label to release it as a single.

Would this have saved adore comercially though who knows? its an interresting. "what if"
I love Adore. Not sure anything would have save it commercially
Right? Who cares if 76million people didnt buy the album. The album is ART

If "ava adore" was more guitar driven with actual drums, it would've done a lot better
Great song.
I think Adore is great.
But one can think “what if”, in a few regards.
What if Jimmy hadn’t gotten into deep drug troubles and fired? What might the record have sounded like with him playing drums?

Appels and Oranjes? I was always surprised that he didn't release that as a single....
If this song does not make you smile, be worried.
I was excited to hear this song after hearing the story about it being left off the album. I'm glad he left this off, not a fan.
billy didn't want this to be a single because it's too "pop"? perfect is the most "pop" song he ever wrote.
pancakerepairman thank you... so many people here seems to forget this fact ... he didnt include it cause it was too radio friendly, he said it many times
Very pretty, but I prefer the machina era approach they took with it, myself.
Billy was a fool not to make this the lead single. Machina II version slays this. Cool to have it, tho.

Joey Waronker played on this. I think. He was with Beck at that time. Matt Cameron from Soundgarden played on a few songs also.
Smashing Pumpkins b-sides are undoubtably better than Silversun Pickups songs even when they work with Butch Vig🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️😂😂😂🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Sadly the recorded versions of this song are not as good as the Hamburg live performance in 1998.
I understand why it wasn't on Adore... certainly it doesn't fit the album. This version feels incomplete, too, especially the ending. The approach to the song is dead-on here, though.
The heavier version of this song would fit perfectly on Adore.
Machina II is better, way more poignant in that era.
Think I like the other version a lil better--sorry.....I don't like the ending on this one
The drums are awful. I’ll stick with the Machina version.
Spot on , maybe cos I'm s drummer but they are all over the place, I was thinking my judgement was clouded by listening to the Machina version first but its not
I personally prefer this version. Only real bad thing about it is Rick Rubins production making the song sound like shit.
compressed to hell. What a shame.
Welcome to the world of Rick Rubin's mastering. The mix for RHCP's Californication is unforgivable.
The other version way better
wow, i'm pretty sure rick rubin doesn't know how to produce the pumpkins. the machina 2 version is way more expressive than this.
Drums are so bad. M2 version all the way.
