I think this version is amazing, I’ve listened to the slower version but it loses a lot of the energy and emotion captured with this recording. So perfect.
@@simondoutre6225 not this version. You can hear the adore version on the super deluxe edition. This is Jimmy Chamberlain playing and it has so much more energy than the adore cut. Such a great song. I heard them play this on a TV broadcast of a show from the adore tour in 1997. I have had this song stuck in my head since i was 11 years old - about a decade before i could nab a bootleg of machina II off the internet...
Really one of my favourite songs of SP. Haven't heard it in years, forgot about it, and by coincidence here it is again. It's morning, I'm in the metro, crying a bit to hard.
I have to echo the comments expressed below: had this version of the song been released and promoted around the time of Adore, I think it would have been a massive hit. It sounds big and its sentiments are powerful.
Sounds like you understood the lyrics correctly, something I couldn't do until I heard Billy explain them recently. It's just the smashing pumpkins doing their classic songwriting, where the lyrics and music contrast and drive home the message with beautiful irony.
@Witherweed Sure, but there are three versions of this song. The original two, one piano and this version, and the Ruben version. My main point is that I don't think this would be included on a machina or machina 2 reissue. But there is always a chance. A lot of MCIS demos and ideas were carried over to Adore so, perhaps an Adore song will be officially carried over too. Either way, I've always loved it. I remember reading an interview with Billy where he said he regretted not including this as the lead Adore single as it would have been a hit record.
Originally planned to be on the "Adore" album. But since "Adore" was mostly a tribute to Martha (Billy's mom, who passed a few months before the release of Adore), this song was considered too "happy" to be on the album.
Billy is one of the most prolific songwriters I know of, I’ve been a fan since 1994 or so and the amount of stuff they’ve done is insane, and that’s just what they released. Idek how the band members can learn such a huge catalog. I remember watching a video in the past 10 years, Billy wakes up and first thing each morning sits on the piano or with a guitar and does some songwriting. Mindblowing tbh
if they are remastering this album it will be delivered in a time the music wont be overlooked as much despite the lengthy circumstances regarding the years of 99 and 2000 with the big split and releasing this online, a lot of people never heard some of this stuff and it will have an effect like the "new metallica" song all within my hands on s&m 2 which was actually from st anger the album was just overlooked because arguably it was mostly shit compared to the metallica most of us want. but for an era where synthetics and atmosphere make all the difference a remaster will grab them even more attention than they have gotten in the last couple of years with james iha back
@Billy Corgan's Ego i really hope you have more of a life than your comment implies in the context of how long ago my initial comment was. im sorry you dont have anything better to do than troll youtube videos
Not true at all! I’m 19 & have been a fan for 3 years & Machina is probably my favorite Pumpkins album (counting it as a double album as it was intended to be). I’m so excited, I can’t wait!!
Myabe this will be the year that this gets a proper release
but next year machina'll turn 25 ;-)

Great top tier pumpkin song.
I forgot how much I adored this song.
Ironically was left off adore

@@piemanmusic radio worthy. I remember having this song on my mp3 player when I was 12 and not even remembering where I got it from
This song could’ve been huge if it was released properly, no doubt
Can't wait for the remaster of Machina II
@Arnold Johnson it has been in the works for a while, id expect its coming soon
@@starzod8557 all that’s left is the mastering now, so probably next year
really hope this version makes the cut
Expect to wait another 5 years. This has been put back since around 2012

The BEST Pumpkins song!
No question this should have been a single. yet another hidden gem 💎 from the mighty smashing pumpkins
From the greatest album never released (officially)
This should have been the lead single on Adore
I remember this song being all over the radio from an unreleased album. I love the Pumpkins
Wow that's so cool what planet do you live on
I mean what country?
I mean what state are you located
@@elijahshould2098 I remember my first beer, too
Definitely got airplay in Portland in the early 00s, you’re not totally nuts as some comments would suggest 👼🏻
I think you were in Chicago in December of 2000 listening to Q101. And you heard it once.

The best pumpkins song ever!!!! Love this version so much...so much power...so much energy...adorable
Incredible work. Like I'd expect otherwise..
Best version of this song
This song helped me divorce my ex of 15 years.
Same here...15, farewell and goodnight

ill never really understand why in the cutting of albums some of these songs had to wait until the band was nearly dead to come out

Only the old fans care about the Machina remaster. It will sell poorly.
