No doubt one of the best team videos in years, that said we pay our guys. These guys get cash or travel video bonuses (on this video and many others) and are reimbursed for ride based travel on a consistent basis out of base travel budgets (podium bonuses otw). That stuff makes trips like this possible but they are only one piece of the team support system / pay structure we have worked so hard on. Seeing stuff like this come out only makes me more sure we are headed the right direction.
Definitely the best video I have seen in a long time from Original Skateboards. The guys in Norway know what they are doing, unlike a lot of the other posers on previous videos who only know how to slide, and not do any tricks.
If you're looking to do freestyle and some hills then I suggest the Apex 40 Diamond Drop. You can adjust your set up depending on how fast you're looking to go. This deck is great for freestyle tricks and also has a dropped bowl shaped concave for stability during higher speeds, and control for slides. -Lindsay
Lot of Apex 40 DD / Apex 37 DD in the freestyle sections and even a solid bit in the slide shots. Most of the downhill is on Baffle 37s and the Vecter fiberglass brick prototype.
That's the Baffle 37, symmetrical brick with a ton of clearance for bigger wheels or loose trucks. Generally I rock that deck for technical freeride / sliding and swap to a Maven for pure Dah. That said th baffle did well on the euro tour this year so dh is a strength as well depending on what you like.
Hey HS, I think you could go a couple of different directions here. First one I would check out is the Drop Freeride 41. Its under 100$, super super low (easy to push) and the drop gives it a ton of leverage which helps with both carving and easy slide initiation (which is what you want if you decide to learn to slide). Another great option if you are doing city based riding and need to ollie or drop off curbs is the Arbiter 36 KT. It's got plenty of pop but big wheel clearance as well.
You would most likely be able to mount the trucks directly to the bottom of your deck without a problem. However, if your board has any rocker concave to it the trucks may not be compatible. -Lindsay
Looks to me like an Apex 40 DoubleConcave but I can't say for sure. I know most of the guys go with either that or the diamonddrop for freestyle so I think its pretty likely.
Hey Thirsty, We look for young riders just as much as older riders for the team. We have a handful of young guns under 10 years old but quite a few very talented up-and-coming riders in the 10 to 14 y/o range. As far as a board board, the Beasts are solid decks for light freestyle and heavy sliding. If you busted one odds are you are doing more than light freestyle, or you are big into ramps etc. The Apex would be a waybetter deck for freestyle (you wont break it) or maybe an Arbiter 36?
That's fair SC. The thing is when these guys are traveling a long way they want to bring as few boards as possible (it gets tiring lugging them through airport after airport, particularly when you have 6 or 8 guys with a couple boards each). Anyway, our riders choose what they want to ride based on the type of terrain they think they will be hitting, we figure who knows better than them what board will work best?
Every skateboarder's dream is to travel, shred, and enjoy living that dream with friends. Longboarding: Oslo Session does just this. 100% rider planned, but they no money
Adam Ahmad All Original team riders have travel reimbursement, I think the guys took care of their food and lodging but maybe OS helped out on flights or something along those lines.
Longboards by Original Skateboards Ugh Hey! What size of Apex DD has been used on this awesome vid? Is it 37/40 inches? Thanks. Cause I am looking forward to buy that apex DD.
Tried looking for some Oslo Longboard Groups before hand but non cropped up, would of been cool to skate with more! Only skated with a few riders I knew already. (Ali, Henning & Petter)
Hey Connor. Getting sponsored isn't easy. We look for clean combos with style, and diversity in the riding style. Sponsorship also isn't all about what you can do as a rider. We want riders with great attitudes, stoke, passion for riding, and also loyalty to Original. Get out to some events, host events, start a longboarding club, do something for a good cause, and make a video of yourself riding. Then contact us and we'll let you know what we think. -Lindsay
The board from 1:40 with the rider in a black t-shirt what is this board it looks awsome for downhill but it might can handle some cool skateboard tricks if you just do youre tricks for more weight. I would like to know because iam looking for an all new deck thats capable of riding downhill without speedwobbles but also you should be able to do something like a ollie on it so a board thats not so heavy but also very stable. ( Iam sory ife my english is bad iam not a native speaker )
I loved all the other sessions that you have made but this one does not draw me in. My favorite was the Hawaii sessions, and this one, I have a feeling it will be crap.
"Oh my god. :O" - Those are my words to describe this video. Nearly impossible tricks, specially those manuals created by god. - O. Perez from Puerto Rico (Apex 40 Diamond Drop) :')
This Trip was 100% Rider funded, there is no way we would be able to compare to Originals Hawaii sessions for example. It was more about riding and enjoyment than making a decent series. This will be the only video up here from the trip.
I don't know what to write so I'm giving you waffles recipe: 2 eggs 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 3/4 cups milk 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1 tablespoon white sugar 4 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Directions: Preheat waffle iron. Beat eggs in large bowl with hand beater until fluffy. Beat in flour, milk, vegetable oil, sugar,, just until smooth. Spray preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour mix onto hot waffle iron.
I really hope this isn't the only video for this, the sessions where the family, the experience, this is just another skate video. Kinda crushed what I was hoping for. :/
