no ones ever need to become pro , the most important thing in snowboard and longboard is to progress at the pace you are capable of and have fun ... snowboard , skateboard long board have been created with Fun in mind first only 1% or less of all snowboarder skaters become " good enough " to be call profetional and even 1% is almost a exageration

Is it hard? As you started what did you use? :)
It's easier than skateboarding, I think generally the bigger the board (and wider the trucks) the easier to balance.
:) I picked it up pretty quickly (been skating once a week for two months), still get the occasional fall, but got helmet and pads. I got a (£90) Atom drop-through 36", no kicks. Just cheap and basic, I had to replace the bushings.
Gemma Suen The big board part at the beginning you said, not necessarily true. For me it depends on the flex, I can hit higher speeds on my nickel than my 40" dancing board because it's thick as a tank. I prefer a flexy deck because cross steps and tiger claws, but generally for me less flex is more stable (for exaple: my Switchblade 40 is great for freeride. No speed wobbles).
Also not hating on your ride or anything, but I think you should invest in a better deck. Atom boards aren't good. But at least you've got somethin' to ride, I guess.
Eh, well I'm a newbie. Chances are I'm going to ruin the board before I start to ride on it smoothly. It was cheap and I think relatively ok for a beginner. Thanks for the comment. I've since tried a board with less flex and I see what you mean.
Eh, if by cheap you mean like Sector 9 or Churchill something I agree, those a great quality while also being not so much money. But I hope you're not encouraging him to get something like that weird "Atom" longboard from amazon that's like 30 bucks or something...lol
Also 75mm is reeeally big for a lot of boards.

I remember sending the link to this video to my parents in 2012... Telling them about how I wanted to learn how to ride, but they told me to really think about it first. Finally bought my first board last year, in 2019!
Despite what some people say I really enjoyed this. I must say that so watch a couple of people just being happy and enjoying life in the summer sun with their longboards and some matching music is the best thing ever..

Si no hay riesgo no hay pasión, tú sabes que en cualquier deporte físico corres un riesgo del 40% de que te accidentes? y golpes ya tengo junto a cicatrices, en la espalda, pierna y hombros, no se puede aprender algo comportandose como princesa frágil, y así cómo?

¿Muy marica? ¿eres gay o homosexual o a qué te refieres? ¿fotos de lecciones? no te entiendo, nunca he visto fotos de como usar una longboard de hecho la única lección es subirte y equilibrarte, yo estaba así miraba mucho como otras chicas lo hacían y luego yo quería pero no podía porque según dicen que para equilibrarte no debes metir más de 1.72 y yo me paso mucho de esa estatura, pero me dio igual y lo intente, me caí muchas veces, casi me rompo el codo pero venga que todo fluye a virtud de constancia y ahora ya me va bastante bien, de hecho hasta subí un video a youtube, veré si puedo colgar otro.

wow, just wow, all these girls are so talented, they make it look so easy!They looked so graceful and beautiful. the filming was really nice, and the music goes so well with the longboarding. it really show that girls can do anything they want dispite what guys say.

This isn't skating...... This is longboarding. It is really easy and fun to do. Usually men are referring to girly girls that are really weak. Men don't wanna skate with people who complain about a leaf touching them or a pebble flying up and hitting them.

with no experience even riding i learned how to slide downhill in about a year, just practice whenever you can, have fun, and don't give up :)
They are not that great, you just need to pratice some month and you'll be great at sliding ;)

véronique la police I'm not a girl, but the best advice is just go out and skate! Cruise, carve and just find how comfortable you are. I've been longboarding for 5 years and I'm still learning. Don't be put off by what you feel people might be thinking, as long as you are having fun. Enjoy every moment even if you fall off get up and try try again till you feel the stoke!

I was nervous about it because of the clumsiness of the first rides and all; but believe me, the freedom that you feel when riding and cruising around its a hundred times bigger than the shame of being pointed at because of the clumsiness; go for it. really, you will never regret it, it's really fun and liberating to go out and skate a little c:

I started to skate and longboard 15 years ago and I saw this video 12 years ago, I have changed a lot but skate never, and this video makes me feel nostalgic.
Time to start cruising again. Get a long cruiser.
This video is a perfect example of why so many people think that longboarding is a mans sport. It's honestly borderline offensive how badly this video portrays female boarders. Go check out Alicia Fillback or the real Girl's Crew if you want to see how hard girls actually shred.
tbh i don't think this should be taken to portray female longboarders at all. it's more portraying a bunch of very cool girls, hanging out and enjoying themselves in some very pretty locations. i don't find that offensive :S

there's nothing wrong with just cruising, they weren't doing this to try and look super skilled and advanced. they were just having fun

Riding alone can be an amazing experience, especially late at night or early morning.
But if you wanna skate with other people then look online and you're sure to meet atleast a few longboarders in your area. I met some of my best friends through longboarding.
Even tho I agree with you on the "impressive-part", I still think that longboard is supposed to be fun, and that you enjoy it in different ways. I love bombing hills, but I also think that days cruising around the city with friends could be one of the best. I think this video is great showing one side of longboarding that doesn't have to be about speed, it's just two different ways of having fun on the board, that's what's so great about longboarding!

My 9 yo starts longboarding (after having tried a penny) such girls are idols for her. There are allways smaler girls that need inspiration and rolemodels like this!
These girls aren't particularly good at longboarding, but watching people break stereotypes and have fun doing it warms my heart
that depends,if you live in a city where you need quick turns than a penny board or a mini longboard would do but if you live in a area with lots of hills,longboard. Thats all i know i hope it helped.source: i ride a longboard as a hobby but penny board is my means of transportation
It depends, do you want a flexible board or stiff maybe a lightweight one? I started on stiff and I love them. Flexible ones tend to bounce you around but apparently they're nice if you get use to it. Hears a couple companies that I've been fond of over the years ;Landyachtz (B.C Canada) and Arbour (US)
I made my own board from scrap plywood. It works just fine, I can feel the carves, plow down stair just fine.

All the longboarders that I know I just happened upon. First group were walking up a hill one night with their boards and others my friends and I hve found in places like Walmart. Longboarders are everywhere =] You'll find them, or they'll find you. Just do what makes you happy

I got bad knees but couldn't give up slalom. I got me a drop deck (Landyachtz Switch) that's much easier on the knees. Don't have to reach down too far to push, probably easier on the ankles too. It's a heavy board but if you don't mind the weight I recommend that. See if you can test the board first. The board has narbars (dips in the [concave?]) that you can lock into, they're nice when your going mach speed; but yeah my heart is into carving... Good luck!
Wearing the shortest dress for longboarding must certainly come very handy.

In a sense yes, its more or less a "surf board" turned to a longboard. You don't move the same way on a longboard like you would on a skateboard. Like skateboarding it is an argued sport and is very popular in costal areas. Tricks are for skateboarding, on a longboard you drift, slide, cruise etc.
