I think the reason kids don't care about the animatronics anymore is because they're not being maintained well. The shows aren't very "hyped up", and kids nowadays have way shorter attention span (probably due to their cocomelon ipads and what not. I usually see my younger cousins clicking from one video to the next without even finishing it.) I think the people who actually care about the robots could possibly save them. Seeing older footage of the shows, seeing how they schedule when the show starts, how the lights shine onto the characters as they perform, it just really brings attention to them. When the curtains close, the mascot then comes out as another way of entertaining guests. I usually have a snack while watching youtube and i get your point of kids not having anything to look at but a dance floor and a giant ipad screen. CEC kind of lost touch. I'm pretty sure if they'd just do some things differently and actually make the show entertaining, work on the animatronic better, and get the show to really pop, these robots could most likely, 100%, be saved.
I agree! I always thought over the years they would upgrade the animatronics to make them look SO much better. But I guess if they would need more money to do that. I'm sure the franchise doesn't have disney world or universal budget to spend.
I agree, but now you fall under this situation of "old vs new". Do you keep the older animatronics or do you update them completely. Some of these locations have been open for years and are 50, maybe 60ish years of age (kind of depends). I think what it comes down to is that the CEC shows aren't interesting anymore and are trying to be way to hip/modern that both kids and parents don't care. They need to take it back a notch and do shorter shows/songs to keep engagement while also maintaining all animatronics. I mean, kids are into FNAF so its not like animatronic interest is dying, but it is picking back up cause of the franchise. If CEC was smart, they could tap into that market...kind of. On a kid friendly level. I largely think why many CEC's animatronics are also being removed is cost/labor. Most of the workers are still young teens/adults who wouldn't know how to properly maintain them or just don't get trained to. Therefore CEC probably figures it doesn't pay anymore to have people come out and properly fix them and with kids lack of interest it's easier to just pop them out. Sad for us who grew up having them, but kind of true. Kids like more animatronics from say Disney or Universal than pizza/arcade restaurants.
The issue is the outdated technology not that kids aren't interested in them 🙄 the majority of the shows run on either reel to reel or in some cases floppy disks both of which are ancient nowadays I think if they were to keep the animatronic thing going they would be better off destroying the ones they have or if not destroy them rebuild and update them and modernize the technology and stuff but honestly they'd be better off just building new animatronics as technology has come a long way and disney is proof of that look at any disneyland/world animatronic than look at a chuck e cheese/showbiz animatronic and it's plain to see that the disney animatronics are far more advanced now IF cec could make something innovative like that I think that they could easily breathe new life into animatronic entertainment
Same thing happens where I live in the UK. We used to have this mini train go along the beach that people went on; the council said "we should get rid of it because nobody uses it" but nobody uses it because it's not being maintained. When they got rid of it people stopped going because that train was the highlight of the beach. The problem is, this train was more than looks. It was used so you can get from point a to point b and rest your legs; while taking in the scenery. Especially for older people who can't walk far. Now-a-days the beach isn't as popular as before. Full of mostly holiday homes rich people never use and is popular for about 1-2 weeks in summer and empty the rest of the year. Why don't people realise that people don't hate things like the mini train or animatronics, they just want them maintained and kept up to quality? T-T
Naw I think it’s fnaf or is that not a thing any more I remember when I was little I was scared of chuck e cheese animatronics that are in my city I hope it’s going to be in one of theese videos it’s really old!
The age is most certainly a factor, but the fact they removed the curtain definitely contributed to their deterioration. Think about it: When Rockafire wasn’t actively performing they had the curtain covering them up, (or at least from footage ive seen) which meant they could be switched off and not be moving around, because no one could see them. The CEC robots don’t have a curtain, so they’re always visible. Switching them off isn’t as much of an option because kids can ALWAYS see them, so they’re always moving, causing more wear and tear on the mechanisms and skins.
Not to mention the ones with windows nearby had the sun shining on them, and constantly being touched with the moisture or grime from little grubby hands probably doesn't help, either.
Video idea: go to any Chuck E. Cheese’s Location and do a challenge where everyone gets their own card and whoever gets the most tickets wins everyone’s tickets! 🐸
As a Brit who will now most likely never get to see a Chuck E Cheese animatronic in person now, I’m very grateful for these videos! That said, everything, you did a B&W cut to Pasquali took me out. So funny
@@MrFRNTIK honestly it doesn’t and it’s super upsetting now that they’re getting rid of everything to put a dance floor instead of keeping the one thing that started the company going in the first place
Despite being born in 1999 I think I prefer the newer Chuck e design? The walk around characters and animatronics freaked me out as a kid and the more mouse like chuck e design is cute. That said, I do have more of an appreciation for the older design now that I'm older and less creeped out by it. It's got is own charm and it's sad to see them go
The reason you dont see animatronics anymore is because millennials turned them into horror characters and now kids are scared of them. Same thing happened to clowns so the millennials ruined it for everyone and you cant see animatronics or clowns in person anymore.
I remember the old Paramus New Jersey CEC used to have that old art too (as well as a light of the old 70s-80s rat Chuck E. Cheese in the back) before it closed in about 2013-2014-ish (I might be wrong about the years) and it was so cool! It was a tiny CEC though….
We have a massive CEC in San Jose. It's kind of terrifying when you drive by at night because they have a 30-foot or so lit up Chuck E in the window, lol. I was thinking they might still have "the band" because they're so extra. I have not confirmed this, but upon my research, I did find that there is a CEC in San Bruno California that has photos of the band on their Google search. I'm not sure if they have a whole band of people I'm costume or if they are indeed one of the old bands.
Update. We went to the one in San Jose (the ones with gigantic Chuck E) and there was no band.. 😮💨 I'd put the work into restoring these guys too. I'm so bummed.
I live 10-15 minutes away from this location! I still go there today due to nostalgia. I have seen them fix mr munch’s neck a bit recently. It is truly rare to see a location like this! The only reason why they are still there is because the location is small and they don’t really make to much profit from this location as they use to. Which im happy that they still have them.
In Iowa, we have a stage like this with the animatronics looking the exact same as those. However Chuck E. has his own stage connected with the main stage along with Pasqually.
Now I’m starting to understand a few theories on why they started to take away the animatronics. 1. Building new ones costs $$$ and the time and effort with management 2. FNAF probably gave the animatronics a bad look 3. The people that should’ve took better care of their animatronics didn’t do well. 4. They just want to keep up with what kids nowadays want (Again these are just my opinions!)
I can’t help but feel with the advancement of AI technology we might be close to a Resurgence of robotic entertainment. Customers could pick almost any song or even topic and watch the characters perform.
I remember the Chuck E Cheese in York PA as a kid over a decade ago, the windows and the stars in the background of the stage lit up. I always loved the videos and the characters interacting with them. I just feel like as time goes on art gets more.....boring :/
I’m pretty sure this stage is gone now at the time I’m commenting this :( there’s only one CU-1 stage left as of today and it’s the one in Springfield Illinois. I’m lucky that it’s my local, they’re in pretty decent condition too. Great video!
Idk but I feel like a reason that the kids don’t care about them Is because of fnaf they get scared the the animatronics will actually come to life so yea
Ive been to the original Chuck E. Cheese location back in 1983, and my little brother was scared of the animatronics, so one day I decided to put him at Chuck's mouth and since my little brother was thramutized, he got a little to emotional and went crying, so that cause Chuck's mouth to bite him, and since that day, I lost my little brother. 😢
