I feel like Aespa really is following the footsteps of SHINee when it comes to versatility and concepts. They’re breaking molds and always exceeding expectations.
from someone who cannot easily categorize music genres into these specific sub-genres, this is really helpful and interesting! thank you for proving that kpop is not only about fanwars LOL
This is awesome, and we need a part two for sure. But also, please make one for STAYC! Their four year anniversary has just passed, and I'd say that they have a relatively rich discography genre-wise.
Love Aespa's discography... All their EDM and trap soul songs hit HARD BTW is Black Mamba festival trap? I definitely consider it to be but some say it sounds more like twerk. I personally think if the drop IS twerk it's definitely a more "stuttered" experimental version, so i think festival trap makes more sense. The drop is massive and has more focus on the synth sound than regular trap-edm.
definitely would consider it festival trap with a slight influence from twerk, i feel like twerk tends to have a vibe that carries over thru the verses and is definitely more subdued in nature with just a hard-hitting synth, but black mamba is hard all around which makes me lean towards festival trap :) thank you for the question!
i’m musically illiterate so i’m not aware of genre names but tech house and trap soul really appeal to me (also ty for the kep1er and chungha song recommendations because they sound divine…)
Aespa bsides all genres plss, some of their bsides are really good like mine, stt, licorice, flowers and are some good ones apart from those mentioned in the video. we also need a video on hiphop soul songs, btw you just earned yourself a new subscriber ❤
I love these kinds of videos! Learning about these different genres is interesting (I have the opposite of a discerning ear) and I'm also getting so many good song recs from this
What a fabulous video! When I saw the title "deep dive" and the length of the video, I thought, how deep could this get? 🌝 Silly me! 🤪 There is so much educational info! Adding a number of other K-pop songs with the same genre is such a masterstroke on your part! I would love to see more videos like this! 🙏🌟🩵🐻❄️
My favorite channel rn!! You’re what the kpop world needs rn fr. I would LOVE to a deep-dive/compilation for Stray Kids! They mix so many genres and it’d be so interesting to dive into my favorite group’s sound
oooh true!! they also have a lot of super unique genres so it would be awesome to look into!! thanks for the suggestion :D and thank you for the kind words!
Just out of curiosity because it’s my favourite aespa but what genre is Girls? My immediate first guess would be EDM trap but I’m not sure lol. I seriously love how broad their discography is. Also would love to see a part 2 cause I loveeee these types of videos ^^ 💕
its actually a close relative of edm trap called hybrid trap, which fuses edm trap with some dubstep sound design like different beats and other weird details LOL thank you for asking!!
Great Video! I always had a thing for aespa's discography and if possible can you make this type of video for enhypen too? I would love to see your video on their discography! Also Their new song No doubt what's the genre of that song?the beat was addictive
banana allergy monkey bewitched & lucid dream recognition we love to see it ✨ maybe you can do a "the genres of mamamoo/oneus/taemin" type of video if you wish i really liked this video as always😊sunset and side b basically invited themselves into my playlist because wow💃
there are definitely hyperpop elements but none of the songs are actual hyperpop! savage is the closest - the genre is deconstructed club, which i couldn't find enough examples of in kpop to include sadly
would u by any chance be open to sharing the trap soul songs you know in kpop? :) thats one of my favorite genres, lucid dream is one of my favorite songs as well. of course, only if you're open to it!

hello! i'm having a hard time isolating the "soul" part of genres like trap/hip hop/pop soul. i know it's an expansive genre, but what clues you into a "soul" melody or vocal style?
its generally very emotionally centered, generally theres a good amount of harmonies & backing vocals and its all-around kind of atmospheric in a way compared to more "pop" vocals which are less focused on creating a vibe! ty for the question!
Hi! can you say genres of the songs if you know: NewJeans - Our Night Is More Beautiful Than Our Day NewJeans - Beautiful Restriction YESUNG & SEULGI - Darling U WENDY & Eric Nam - Spring Love WENDY & SEULGI - Don't Push Me TWICE - Jaljayo Good Night WINTER & NINGNING - Once Again Red Velvet - Future Thank you !
