There are two ways to deal with a tiny space like your bathroom: either make it feel bigger with light colours and mirrors and minimalism, or treat it like the inside of a jewelry box and go for intimate and intense. If it were me, I'd stick with the coziness and openness you've got going with the main room, and go for intense in the bathroom. I'd hide the ceiling and the hot water heater both with 3-4 beaded curtains, attached to the wall opposite the hot water heater and then draped across the bulk of the ceiling, stopping where the hot water heater is, then draping again over it and to the wall just below it. You'd get a massive chandelier effect.
American here. Paint the water heater yellow. It's not a bug, it's a feature. Use the color as accents. or... many possibilities. Beaded curtains are a dust magnet. And tacky.
@@dreamervanroom That hot water heater menancingly mounted above the tub is tacky -- and scary. To me, the only good things about French design are doors and windows -- and even those are strictly for aesthetic, not practicality.

for ur bathroom first of all the tiles are gorgeous!! Honestly I think just bettering the storage situation in there will help u feel like it’s been “designed”. You have a lot of wall space so using command strips and getting some gold metallic baskets may help tie it in with the rest of the house. Also just putting in a bigger mirror in ur bathroom will make it feel more put together I saw that the vanity mirror literally is so tiny. Also just a thought but you could buy a ton of frames and break them to then use them to frame the big geometric mirror, sort of like an eclectic frame made from a bunch of tiny ones
I lived in a 250 sq ft apartment in NYC for 8 years--took my YEARS and a lot more money to whip it into shape. Your place is super cute & to put it together while navigating another language and culture where so many aspects of the process are different, kudos to you!
I like to imagine that Germany is not all too different from France and these Videos actually convince me lol. When he was like „why is the heater under the window?“ I glanced over to my heating system under my windows. Isn’t it normal? That way you either have your heater on or the window open,,, unless you wanna heat for the whole of Europe that is.
I am 3 minutes in and I already love you! It's 3:45am and you have me cracking up. I love the space, you did a great job. And btw, the English to French is awesome!
The heater under the window is because hot air goes up and cold air from the window goes down, that way the hot air from the heater spreads better. It's very common at least in Europe, definitely in older houses with bad isolation.
Love love love this! A beautiful apartment that looks so personal and unique unlike a lot of RUclipsr's apartments these days (at least the Americans lol) and the editing made it even better!
1) you can install a curtain made of thick material (e.g. plush) over the door, it should dampen the noise from the corridor a little 2) the heater is under the window because it heats the cold air from outside (I don't know if it's just european thing)
Love your videos!! I lived in one of those chambers de bonne when I was 17 (ugh!). You are an amazing spirit, persistent, resilient, creative, talented, smart and funny. And love, love your design tips! At 53, when I can afford to buy “higher end” decor, I am going to copy some of your decorating especially the framed photo/art wall! Thank you for the guidance and sharing your knowledge there. Your apartment looks amazing. Thank you for sharing your Parisian adventures with someone like me who has family responsibilities in the US and can’t pack a bag for Paris...yet!
Random idea to sound proof your bedroom - get some large canvas stretchers from an art store, buy some felt and then pretty fabric - Then stretch the felt over the canvas stretcher and staple it on the back. Then do the pretty fabric on top - then hang it like a large painting! Easy, stylish and cheap.
Your apartment looks exactly like mine did when I studied abroad in the Czech Republic. That two burner no oven ass havin life 😂. Wouldnt trade it for the world though
Man even less than 1000€ monthly in Paris is considered cheap and you're telling me you can have a freaking chambre de bonne for even less?? I am so moving to Paris 😂Anyway, I loved this video. You didn't sound like bragging at all and for some reason, it felt so different from the usual house tour you would see on youtube. Thank you for being honest and just on point with editing and personality! I know it can be really tough moving across the world (I moved to Japan for 1 year so I can empathize so much with your struggles), but I am very happy to see you somehow manage to smile and brush it off online. I would love to meet you one day 😭 Have e good weekend! PS: I legit thought you were opening a secret door in the wall then I realized they are just cabinets.
I love the apartment decor, especially that you were able to buy cool used furniture at awesome prices. I also love the art wall. It is the first thing that I noticed when you opened the door. You did an excellent job!! Next time I’m Paris, going to hi up thr second hand shop.

Hey David, I’m a young American ex-pat living in Paris. The theme this month is « Shanghai Palace »... If you’re interested in going, send me a dm. You won’t find a party like this anywhere else and would definitely be a change of scenery from le marais (that is, if you go there).
1) you can install a curtain made of thick material (e.g. plush) over the door, it should dampen the noise from the corridor a little
2) the heater is under the window because it heats the cold air from outside (I don't know if it's just european thing)
Found your channel yesterday and I’M OBSESSED
🙌🏼 WELCOME 🙌🏼
13:13 you can buy socket changers!!!! switches the little metal sticks to whatever your countries pattern is!!
libras though do have that vibe
Love your videos!! I lived in one of those chambers de bonne when I was 17 (ugh!). You are an amazing spirit, persistent, resilient, creative, talented, smart and funny. And love, love your design tips! At 53, when I can afford to buy “higher end” decor, I am going to copy some of your decorating especially the framed photo/art wall! Thank you for the guidance and sharing your knowledge there. Your apartment looks amazing. Thank you for sharing your Parisian adventures with someone like me who has family responsibilities in the US and can’t pack a bag for Paris...yet!
Been looking forward to this
Random idea to sound proof your bedroom - get some large canvas stretchers from an art store, buy some felt and then pretty fabric - Then stretch the felt over the canvas stretcher and staple it on the back. Then do the pretty fabric on top - then hang it like a large painting! Easy, stylish and cheap.
Your apartment looks exactly like mine did when I studied abroad in the Czech Republic. That two burner no oven ass havin life 😂. Wouldnt trade it for the world though
You are so talented, engaging, and fun. I am so glad I found your channel.
I'm sorry Damon, but my favorite part of your apartment is definitely the kitchen! Ps don't kick me out
BYE 🙌🏼
🤣😂
It's just so nice!! the tile is so happy
Your apartment is gorgeous! Makes me wanna move to Paris. It is so stylish and I love how you managed the small space.
I want Wes Anderson to make a movie about this
Your videos just really make me want to be your friend. You’re so charismatic and funny. I’m learning French and thinking of moving to Paris as well. So love the vids!
We need more touristy/thrifting vlogs 🤗 I just love Damon’s vibe.
This is my comfort video. I always come back to this video cuz it makes me so happy haha
your apartment is a dream
I like that it’s not so stuffy or so greens but still aesthetic
Hey David, I’m a young American ex-pat living in Paris. My friends throw a big party once a month at the historic restaurant, La Coupole, called « les Paris Follies. » It’s really fun and an opportunity to get dressed up, drink champagne and relive Paris from the roaring 20s and crazy 30s. The theme this month is « Shanghai Palace »... If you’re interested in going, send me a dm. You won’t find a party like this anywhere else and would definitely be a change of scenery from le marais (that is, if you go there). You can also look it up on Facebook if you search for « la baronne de Paname » or « paris follies la coupole »
Cheers,
Maximiliano

David?? Lmao
I love the look of putting a bunch of staggered tall candles in the fireplace. It gives a bit of a pseudo fire look!
