- Greeting from Japan where we've come to ride all three variants of the Yamaha MT-09, including the high spec SP and the unique automatic shifting Y-AMT. An extremely limited time to shoot means that this is a short video, but Rishaad Mody tells you what to expect before Yamaha launches the MT-09 in India next year.

This bike is a dream machine for someone like me BUT following the track record of Yamaha pricing their CBUs, i know this bike would be priced so ridiculously high that many other capable motorcycles (ones even above its segment) would seem much more VFM.
Couldn't agree more
Yamaha Ducati makes liter class engines that are reliable & hassle free even better than honda & triumph. you pay whatever they ask ! at this class VFM is of least consideration
@@flyingbullet-53 Reliable Ducati? lololol
@@flyingbullet-53go visit ducati showrooms and you will find out how reliable they are. Kawasaki , honda and triumph are better in our country but triumph will screw you once the warranty is over
But the market for these high end bikes are not the people who consider value for money. It is for the hardcore lover who actually has no problem with the price.
Thank you for the 4K videos! We asked for it and you delivered so it calls for an appreciation. Watching experience on a 4K TV panel is now really enhanced! Commenting on multiple videos so that my appreciation catches your eye 😅
Honestly, doesn't a quickshifter with an autoblipper completely negate the necessity for an AMT? feel + convenience. best of both worlds!
Yeah, They just built a more powerful aerox
@@Atmaspeaks 😂😂😂😂
No, an e-clutch like the one on the new Honda cbr 650s will be the best of both worlds. Feel and convenience
2019 MT-09 model was such a thing❤️
Finally 4k 😊
Would never like to let go of the engagement of shifting gears by myself on my bike. The clutch pull, throttle blip, rev matching, going up and down the gear as and when I wish accompanied by the rise and fall of the changing engine note is really a cherished experience for me.
Exactly. That’s one of the pure joys of riding a motorcycle. Without that, it’s just a powerful scooter.
it's a crutch for those with disabilities in the left leg
@@pranavhb1716 i don't think someone with small disability would risk driving bike or car majority of them
That used to be what people said about automatic gearboxes in cars. However automatics rule the roost now
@@brendonfernandes2877 was just talking about my preferences... everyone will/may have their own choices.
This bike sounds brutal when an aftermarket exhaust is installed.. 🔥
Reminds me of TVS jive non clutch bike 😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂
i had one.... and after listening to this auto clutch i had the same reaction as everyone used to have when they got to know my bike don't have clutch but gears....😂😂
i still remember the ads. back when i did not understand why that was a thing and why did it even matter so much. now that i drive a royal enfield i ask myself what happened to that jive and why are there no automatic bike. then my brain points a finger to the aerox.
Please please please god, just make Yamaha launch R9 with this engine and price it well for India 😁🤞
Hope they will launch the at gearbox bikes in budget, I want to purchase a bike but unable to learn 😢😢
If unable to learn why not learn on a cheap scooter?
here in the US, we have been seeing these for the last 10 years this is in its 3rd generation. Although the engine has been awarded for being one of the best in the previous decade, It has some reliability issues.
Also, these new transitions to DCT, AMT, and e-clutch make sense for an 800-pound motorcycle not sure how good it is on a smaller capacity, lighter bike.
It is also slowly making people move away from gaining core skills of riding motorcycles like managing clutch, braking, etc.
What ure saying is right but in many countries people don't have most basic thing known as common sense, reading the environment while riding bike or driving car that's more dangerous part😂
Please advice Yamaha not to bring their products to India unless they can manage CKD units. There is no point in blaming the Indian market if they can’t devise strategies to compete with Kawasaki India
Wow, the frame is completely exposed, and there's no panel even near the seat. This is truly a naked bike
I have been waiting for this amt for years now. Thank you
But I like both the bikes mt 09 and street triple 😊
they are 2 different bikes though the mto9 is all rounder fun where as street is a track podium craver
I love street triple but this might be the only bike that i might prefer over that one. What an amazing bike this one is definitely one of my dream bikes.
It's a Yamaha that has to sound good.
Yamaha in other countries 🗿🗿🗿
Yamaha in India 🤡🤡🤡
Why would they bring costly bikes in India ?
To take pictures ?
@@ashfakurrahman8586Ask ducati , bmw and triumph 🤡🤡🤡
@@___SSS___ you know that Triumph doesn't bring all it's models to india right ?
And Ducati ? Only one of the models of their liter class sells here
Also it depends on import taxes you should blame the government rather than the bike company
@@___SSS___ also all these three companies have their adventure bike range which carries it's majority of sales and Yamaha doesn't have many of those
Exhaust Sound is Fire
This bike would compete with zx-10 r in terms of pricing. Do not expect aggressive pricing from yamaha
Is it going to launch?
@@xgamershub surely will. At end of 2025 ig
@@asphalt9phoque551 and any guess for the price?
@@xgamershub might be around 18 ig, ex showroom
@@xgamershubPrice is anyone's guess. Maybe 13-14l ex showroom for the mt 09
It Would be Expensive in India as it will be CBU
Wtf is wrong with motorcycle industry automatic gearbox on street fighter sports bike, r u kidding me...🤦
Expecting this technology for years. Great yamaha.
Amazing Video Bro ❤
Best naked sports in middle weight ig
This Yamaha Mt 09 is a great machine
As India is a price sensitive market everyone here is looking for a good bike under good pricing. So Yamaha should launch it around 9.5 - 10lakh ex showroom price here in India.
This bike is a godsend for someone like me who wants to look cool and macho riding a bike, but hates using a clutch and manually shifting the gears😂😂
The #yamaha should also bring xsr900. Real Dream machine.
How different does it feel to ride compared to the Honda DCT gearbox? Does the use of AMT really matter when the bike is so expensive?
Honda e clutch is better. However they provide clutch lever and gear lever. That is better for a better feeling, this doesn't feel like motorcycle.
My Favourite! 💙
It is interesting to understand why are they not going with the CKD of MT07 platform with T7 as the cherry on top.
Don't worry they'll bring it through the ckd route in 2030 when the bike will be completely outdated and price it at a premium compared to the competition. And cry when those won't sell.
Wooo the R9 is gonna sick ❤🎉
Regarding the AMT version I agree that keeping it in manual mode makes the most sense to avoid unexpected gear changes. I have tried several Honda bikes with DCT and felt the same with those too. Does Yamaha's solution work smoothly when starting from stand still? And if one uses manual mode does it still shift down to avoid stalling the engine if you accidently leave it in a higher gear and slow down?
Is it a dual clutch gearbox?
Why, Though it's an engineering marvel!
Lovely Rishaad, thank you for the quick rundown.
Hopefully the Yamaha guys won’t be smoking the strong stuff when they announce pricing, although I fear they will.
No auto in bikes for me too - ever.
Cheers
What about MT-07? Are they going to launch in India?
Would it be possible this be put on MT-25?
where there's a will there's a way but when there's manual why and what is automatic??
Im one of the target markets for this bike the only problem is... I can't afford it. 😁 😂 I love the auto shift finally yamaha has one like Hondas eclutch. I hope in the future they can put it on their lower displacement bikes.
I used Bajaj Calibre for 22 years, and then Hero Passion Pro (since 2021), all these times my top priority was mileage and price. Now I am 48, want a 150cc-250cc bike, and am okay with 35-45kmpl mileage. So I am looking at
Apache RTR 160 4V,
XTREME 160R 4V DISC,
Pulsar N160,
MT-15 Ver 2.0
KTM 200 DUKE
any suggestion🙏
RTR 200 4V
Go for a Japanese brand if u need long-term reliability
This is going to be like riding a scooter vs a skateboard 😅
@rishaad any word on the R1 coming to India in 2025?
R1 got discontinued globally

Wano country intro 🔥
Is this bike for kid as a pillion?
Y-amt = why amt. Btw, why amt?
How did your channel owner Royal Enfield give you permission to review this bike
I like Honda's e-clutch execution better.
When is MT09 SP launching in India? International markets have it for months already !!
Probably not going to be launched. India isn't a major market for big bikes. Yamaha might launch the vanilla MT09 in limited quantities by the end of next year
@@brendonfernandes2877 that’s very disappointing. But I don’t agree about India not being a market for big bikes.
@@brendonfernandes2877 That is very disappointing. Though I don't agree to your point about India not being a market for big bikes. Now every maker is bringing big bikes here.
MT 10 when? 😢
Y-AMT will be a failure, it does not suite a Bike, it suites a car do doubt, this bike is a total failure, very good review, i like it, thank you. we don't need to buy another Active with 10 lakh Rupee price tag 😁😆
Empty left handle. i like to see rear brake in left hand
Damn that higher seat height .... out of box for consideration for aveg height Indian buyers
If u can ride a Duke 390, it should be fine...I'm 5.8 and was comfy on an MT09 SP
If one compares this new bike with its rival kawasaki Z900,the kawasaki has an upperhand..this is what i believe..strictly my personal opinion,Z is perfect naked for indian street in terms of practicality..and most predominatly the PRICE ON ROAD
The Z900 wins in straight line speed and sound. It's a perfect bike for chapris who want to blast on straight roads.
Other than that the MT09 is a superior bike as it has much better handling, has better features and is lighter to boot. It's meant for more mature riders.
Amt makes more sense on big touring bikes like goldwing 😅
what about engine braking
It would make more sense in city commuter bikes than sporty bikes
why would anyone do that ??
it's a bike bro it's a bike..
I think it will be priced stupidly high like 17-18 lakh high and the ridiculous taxes will take it to 19 lakh 😂
u said u will come to design in a bit...bt never came to it
Sp🤘🏻
Z900 laughing in corner
In that case even honda will launch
Hornet 750 and cbr1000
Auto will be awesome if the bike had some storage.. like going to the shop to buy milk..SO it should suit cruisers but they missed that simple logic
Not less than 15L
Nice🇸🇦
Honda done better with there E-clutch from yamaha with there Y-amt
Y-AMT. That's amazing. Automatic transmission in bikes should be more democratized. There are times when we hate changing gears even on a bike.
Personally, for years, I am waiting for the Honda Forza series to come to India & especially the Forza 750 DCT. However, not as a CBU because I didn't receive my Rs.15 lakhs in my bank account.
If automatic transmissions are made available on bikes too, there are chances the sales might go high. That's my opinion. Facts & figures might be different.
what an eyesore this MT-09 is !
Vo sab to theek hai, par chalaenge kahan isko😂
Yamaha be like 50-60 lakh only 😂😂😂
If yamaha is going to price this the way they priced the r3 and mt03....dont bother
You would amt in Indian traffic
among all liter class bikes yamaha kawasaki & ducati are most reliable hassle free engines. you pay whatever they ask.
Amt, non clutch...is it even a motorcycle?
NO CLASS LGBTQQ VERSON OF MT09 ?
Tasteless and unwarranted comments.
What's happening in automotive designers😅,bmw ,yamaha🤦🏻♀️
I can already be sure they're going to poop the bed with the price.
no
Although itz a cool bike...but looks sooo tiny...dosent worth the huuuge asking price...
Naked bikes look so incomplete
I'm not that old for automatic and electric shit
It's about convenience of not changing gears by using clutch particularly in country like India with pathetic roads and continuous start stop to remove strain or some major corporate propaganda either one 😮
Yamaha nakeds are so ugly. Why the transformers look? Is it a deal with hasbro?
AMT - Ewww
Yamaha never learns. It will come to India 2 yrs later with ridiculous pricing. From the past 3 years, they have been just saying things. They cant compete with Kawasaki, Triumph, Honda etc. Foolish, Stubborn brand. Yamaha India needs to change their leadership. Its a shame seeing their potential getting wasted.
Also, I dont know what is up with honda, yamaha giving amt in their bikes. Hope they change the face too, old mt09 was gold.
Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha in India only their sales and making money in billions rest of the world have may be 50percent but for india alone they sell in higher rates but poor quality bikes,..boys changed mind set so last 10yrs only KTM,bajaj, and few Chinese companies also selling better then these companies
The have completely ruined it's looks
The old Mt 09 was a beast the new one looks like fz v3
Design looks ugly
so, yamaha copied honda again
This MT 09 looks so flat and empty from front.. that eye looks.. that staring look doesn't even look from front.. Voting for Street triple rs.
Should've shown gear changing mechanism by operating it. What a stupid video that way
All these ugly robotic designs they bring, my love for bikes is over
Ugliest looking bike ever
Japanese may be reliable but
they stand nowhere in front of the Italian beauties
Great pricing from Yamaha? Nah, we don’t do that here. Rather we will give you goodies 🥱
It really surprises me seeing people in super super poor countries posting videos like this. The next video that pops up will be from the same country featuring 10 year old kids working in fields.
Really seems like y'all have more important things to focus on than youtube and yamaha.
Everybody in India has an iPhone, but nobody has a real job.
The bike doesn't suit tall guys
