Winnipeggers call it Winterpeg, too. But here's a secret: Winter in Winnipeg really doesn't feel cold. I felt colder in Toronto and Vancouver than I ever did in The 'Peg. Why? Humidity. In Toronto or Vancouver, the air is much more humid, and the moisture in the air conducts heat from your body. Winters in Toronto and Vancouver really are bone-chilling. But the 'dry cold' in Winnipeg makes it easy to trap warm air inside your jacket without your body heat being lost through conduction. You can dress for the weather and stay comfortable. No problem.
@DaveGIS123 nah, Vancouver winters are some of the warmest in canada. As a torontonian though, I gotta admit you're right about that one. I want to leave just because of that, and the congestion. The summer heat is not great either.
My great grandfather Vasyl Ksionzyk moved from rural Ukraine to Manitoba in 1896. For a $10 registration fee he got 160 acres of land outside of Dauphin. A few of his great grandchildren still live in Manitoba. But I'm not one of them.
there’s not much to do here either. wasagaming is basically the banff of MB, it’s so tiny though. In the summers it’s now jam packed, long wait times for dining, next to no parking unless you get there very early. same goes for the beach, no room unless you go early. it’s great revenue for the area but i fear it’ll be detrimental to the environment in no time. clear lake is getting dirty too. Nobody goes to the Duck Mountains (blue lake, childs lake, etc) because there’s no service, but honestly it’s way better, bigger, and feels more natural. manitoba needs to do a better job of putting money into places for people to do outside of winnipeg and brandon. but that’s just my two cents lol

Can you tell me if Winnipeg is good for international students? I would like to study at the University of Manitoba. Can I find part-time jobs and accommodation there?
Except for the crime stats, which is a stat that's often twisted for good (it's all in-fighting) and for bad (holy cow, Every Winnipeger must have been shot at least once with stats that high), all of this this - mosquitos, internet access, the weather, could apply to anywhere in Canada. Manitoba might get cold but it doesn't blizzard when it's cold. The east gets way more snow than Manitoba. And that opening shot, where did you get that overly distressed apocalyptic picture? I work there, my building is front and center, and it doesn't look like that!
The infrastructure of the province is in absolute decay. The police don't have enough units to keep you from getting shanked by roaming gangs of teens; but will commit air and ground assets to pursuit of a motorcycle pulling wheelies on the perimeter highway
If you are thinking of moving to Manitoba don't. It's not the weather...in fact it is not that bad. This guy has obviously never lived in Manitoba. I am leaving Manitoba simply because there is no future here. Taxes and more taxes at the provincial and city level. The jobs are poor as well. The politics are definitely left wing at the provincial and municipal level. The downtown of Winnipeg has been abandoned.

I've lived in manitoba my whole life ! I love it here but... Let's just say no one from California comes here and stays... I'll let you come to your own conclusions as to why 😂
As you said, every place has it's positives and negatives. Manitoba has so much to offer. I have lived in almost every province and Canada and even several countries overseas. Where you live and how you enjoy the area is a choice each person makes. Home is a state of mind and what you make of it. I have lived in Manitoba since 1986 and I absolutely love it here! Camping is awesome and the access to outdoors is simply beautiful any time of the year. Winters are of "Wonderland" quality and even at -30c (which is rare) the air is filed with peace and amazing opportunities. Winnipeg has ample access to international travel and I have never had issues booking flights anywhere. For it's size Winnipeg offers gems like the Leaf and Forks to name only a couple. A truly worthwhile visit. And the Aboriginal artifacts and art are displayed for all to appreciate. A wonderful rich history we need to explore more of. I challenge you to think outside the box and instead say: 50+ Reasons to move to Manitoba.
Winnipeg has really incompetent and reckless building inspectors. One building inspector told the professional engineer to remove fire dampers and cut a wood roof truss. This place is bordering on a total death trap.
Man, millions of people around the world watch this video and smile. Just let them in :-) Fast internet? Common :-) You've made nice promotion movie for this place :-)

Here's hoping that the issues you expressed are enough to keep you away. Beautiful province. Low cost.of living. Very low crime rates. Not a lot of people like you. Do your research.
I never even fully watched the video but feel need to comment. I'm glad my folks bought a house in 2004 to Brampton, Ontario. I was born and raised in Manitoba (Thompson). No jobs in that province. Toronto area has 100X more opportunities. If I stayed in Manitoba I feel I would still be collecting shopping carts doing a min. wage jobs and I graduated from U of Manitoba. I guess if you own a business or gas stations / restaurants you could be doing well but not a place for corporate jobs.
I live in Manitoba and ever since I was Born I have survived many scary times stop trying to make people to not come to our beautiful city there are homeless people who ruin it for everyone
Not here to defend Manitoba, but if you going to present something you should present it realistically. That thumbnail of the downtown skyline.. why would you go through the effort to make the buildings look dingy? The picture looks very edited. None of the taller buildings downtown are visibly dingy or dilapidated as shown in your thumbnail.
A biased video-this person may have never been to Manitoba. In winter, Winnipeg is no different from Calgary, Edmonton, or Regina. The coldest temperatures, dropping to around -30°C, might only last for a few weeks each year. During that time, Toronto and Ottawa also experience temperatures of -20°C or lower, so there's no real difference. As for snow, the eastern regions often get more. Extreme weather is actually more common in the east and in Calgary than in Winnipeg. Mosquitoes exist everywhere. If you feel the internet isn’t fast enough, you can opt for a higher-speed plan. As a foreigner who has lived in Winnipeg for 10 years, I truly enjoy living here.
I've been to Manitoba three times, thanks for your input though. And regarding my point about internet, you are right in the sense where it is probably an outdated comment. That said, this video is quite old now. Perhaps I should create an updated version.
Yes the winters can be cold here but the skies are clear for most of the winter unlike say Ontario or parts of BC, that helps your mood a lot. It's also not as snowy as say the east coast and we get very little freezing rain if any. Yes you will feel very isolated here if you don't have a car or money for flights, like many others places in Canada, the infrastructure is very bad. Honestly, if you live in a good country already, I'd think twice about moving to Canada let alone Manitoba. Manitoba is however a very beautiful province, especially in summer which are amazing by the way, you will need a vehicle though to see it.
@MarkoBraun-qs6zg Lucky you. A lot of people do have problems with crime, crime and more crime. There’s also a lot of racism against white people. It’s a lot more prevalent now than it was 5-10 years ago. Facts.

So because I haven’t lived in a province means I can’t have an opinion? I know people from Manitoba. In fact I know people from every province, have been to every province in this great country.
@@ApexGeography Mr. expert, a lot can be said based on statistics this way, but everything needs to be corrected; -winter is not so cold anymore, the climate is changing - high speed internet is available everywhere - crime rate is high in Winnipeg but these are areas of the city where you don't walk in the evening, this is the case in every city, not only in Manitoba - travel is no problem, you can fly wherever you want, planes depart from our airport all day long - bugs have almost disappeared for two years, I have hardly seen a mosquito because the summer is dry and hot, no standing water

BTW, intel from ONE person (who doesn't even live in Winnipeg) doesn't mean squat. It's ONE person's opinion. Do you think when companies run opinion polls, they only talk to ONE person?
You could have done a quick search on the internet (or is your internet too slow) and found a real picture of downtown Winnipeg instead of some airbrushed pic.
Rural Manitoba has slow internet... I'll bet it's the same from BC to Quebec.
You love Manitoba, but you give 5 reasons why people shouldn't move there.... interesting.
Of course, there's good and bad in every single province and territory. Hell, every country, for that matter.
@@46babaganoosh Exactly. Take a look at my channel. I have done these NOT to move videos for various provinces. I have also done why you should move. I got it though, next time I will come to you before I make a Manitoba video, clearly you’re the expert.
@@ApexGeography I'm not going to waste my time on your videos. I've only lived here 64 years so clearly, I know more about Manitoba than you do.
@ApexGeography i like how they were trying to discredit your intel because it was from one person.. like, really tried to nail down that point. And then proceeded to say "I've lived here all my life, so I know more than you" you know, the opinion of ONE person, one biased person since it's themself. They're just mad that you knocked on Manitoba a bit, having a hard time accepting that it's a shithole. There's 10 provinces, and one of them has to be the worst. I'm sure a lot of people in Louisiana and Mississippi love living there too, that doesn't mean the states don't suck.
Chem trails are a big problem in Manitoba, as you see at 4:28 in the video.
Chem trails.... another name for water vapor. That's all it is.
@46babaganoosh dude it's not even a secret anymore much less a conspiracy theory!!! Dummy up!!
Booo
@@46babaganooshThere is a patent for chemtrails.
@@46babaganooshYou identify as an ostrich? I know you like to bury your head in the sand!
Manitoba is easily the worst province for many reasons. It's the Louisiana/Mississippi of Canada.
Agreed. There's a reason the rest of Canada calls it Winterpeg
You give up hope in winter but then spring comes and it is a relief for a while
Thank you❤
Nice video thanks
Could you do more aviation stuff pls 😊
For sure! Lots more aviation content on the way! I have some exciting videos planned for the rest of the summer!
there’s not much to do here either. wasagaming is basically the banff of MB, it’s so tiny though.
The Ducks is for real cottagers. Clear Lake is for tourists who like overpaying.
@@jeffrobertison2010 as a local, clear lake was cool before the social media-facation of it all. the ducks are great. not much service but hey it’s a good time
@@oopsiedoopsiee Great fishing at Duck Mountain.
@@46babaganoosh yup!
Also as an Manitoban , don’t forget the limited opportunities.
I work there, my building is front and center, and it doesn't look like that!
lol
Actually I noticed that opening shot too, looks like someone added some grunge.
I commented about that picture as well... the person obviously has a hate on for Manitoba.
I was in Winnipeg in 2024, and you are right that it has lost its charm a bit.
Born in Winnipeg. From my parents, they always talked about the cold!!! Bruce and Otis
Can you tell me if Winnipeg is good for international students? I would like to study at the University of Manitoba. Can I find part-time jobs and accommodation there?
@@Behappppy0622 Not sure, always best to find that kind of information out from the university itself. All the best!
MANITOBA YEA!!!
Great jobs aren't one of them.
I live in the American Southwest, where being held at gunpoint is a risk. I'm curious what you mean when you're talking about "the crime."
Winnipeg has really incompetent and reckless building inspectors. One building inspector told the professional engineer to remove fire dampers and cut a wood roof truss. This place is bordering on a total death trap.
Wait...mosquitoes aren't as plentiful elsewhere? 🤨
There's literally a town named "mosquito" in Ukrainian there...
Makes Siberia look good
Bro 😑
It’s not bad here come and see.
Gimli is the best place to live in manitoba
Man, millions of people around the world watch this video and smile. Just let them in :-) Fast internet? Common :-) You've made nice promotion movie for this place :-)
I have 1.5 gig fiber internet. I remember when it took longer to download a program than it did to install it... that has completely flipped now.
So minitoba is not good place to live?
Manitoba is great if you arent a wuss
We are immigrants Me and my family love Manitoba, kindly people, no criminal, very quiet, lots of Manitoba gov benefits especially people who start business , cheap rental, most population of Manitoba is native German which is good
Police cant keep up. I got broken in and robbed again this summer.
Are there black people in Manitoba
@@Lapisslazulinah it’s natives doing this
@@Lapisslazulimost of the black people are humble and nice me being one of em but oh the natives are something else.
Most of the crimes are committed by natives because they are “oppressed “.
@@Lapisslazuli What a racist question.. shame on you
Here's hoping that the issues you expressed are enough to keep you away. Beautiful province. Low cost.of living. Very low crime rates. Not a lot of people like you. Do your research.
Right on
Wish I could like your comment 1000 times, the person who made this video has the same mentality of a tRump suporter.
I'm sorry that you have to live in Brampton, brother 🙏
It's sad to see the 700,000 people in Winnipeg out of work and starving.
I live in Manitoba and ever since I was Born I have survived many scary times stop trying to make people to not come to our beautiful city there are homeless people who ruin it for everyone
There are homless people in pretty much every major city. Pretty sure, Toronto is leading the pack.
None of the pictures used in this video were edited by me.
@@ApexGeography Not by you, but I'll bet it was by someone you know.
Cold weather? Moma aint raise a b. Internet? Dont need it. International travel? why leave Manitoba????? Bugs? LMAO.
Ikr it’s pathetic
They can’t handle the cold
Yes the winters can be cold here but the skies are clear for most of the winter unlike say Ontario or parts of BC, that helps your mood a lot. It's also not as snowy as say the east coast and we get very little freezing rain if any. Yes you will feel very isolated here if you don't have a car or money for flights, like many others places in Canada, the infrastructure is very bad. Honestly, if you live in a good country already, I'd think twice about moving to Canada let alone Manitoba. Manitoba is however a very beautiful province, especially in summer which are amazing by the way, you will need a vehicle though to see it.
its grey and miserable here almost every day....
Hi. I definitely don't like negative videos like this. I live in manitoba Canada and don't have problems
@MarkoBraun-qs6zg Lucky you. A lot of people do have problems with crime, crime and more crime. There’s also a lot of racism against white people. It’s a lot more prevalent now than it was 5-10 years ago. Facts.
Born and raised here, dude

Have you ever lived in Manitoba or Winnipeg I don't think so so don't talk about what life is like here ; you are not an expert
So because I haven’t lived in a province means I can’t have an opinion? I know people from Manitoba. In fact I know people from every province, have been to every province in this great country.
@@ApexGeography Mr. expert, a lot can be said based on statistics this way, but everything needs to be corrected;
-winter is not so cold anymore, the climate is changing
- high speed internet is available everywhere
- crime rate is high in Winnipeg but these are areas of the city where you don't walk in the evening, this is the case in every city, not only in Manitoba
- travel is no problem, you can fly wherever you want, planes depart from our airport all day long
- bugs have almost disappeared for two years, I have hardly seen a mosquito because the summer is dry and hot, no standing water
@@johnk5538 I wouldn't call him an expert, he's nowhere near one. He used an airbrushed pic at the beginning of the video to make it look like the city is a dive. He claims he didn't do it, I claim he either did or had someone do it for him, since you can easily find a real picture of downtown Winnipeg on the internet.

Not that bad of weather, lowest it usually goes here in winnipeg is -20 or -30. And crime isnt that bad lived here in north end, not for softies, and if you look different you prolly will get jumped. But not that bad just dont be different and dont look weak
