This is incredible! Growing up in Singapore, I've had lots of Taiwanese desserts as they're really popular here. I've had Aiyu jelly so many times over my desserts but this is my first time watching how it's made! Super beautiful! It's one of the few jellies I can eat without having to think twice because I don't consume gelatine or animal-based coagulation agents :)
This is so fascinating. I never even thought of making aiyu jelly before and never even knew that it was possible to make it at home. I love your channel so much, it's so informative and your videos always look great!!! Thanks so much for sharing.
I love how you just went crazy with the cutting (not like neat pretty cubes), it was fun to watch! Aiyu is so light and refreshing, with just the right amount of sour to cut the sweetness
Hello!! I've tried your recipe although I need to substitute all of your ingredients to matched what's available, but it tasted AMAZING! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ it's perfect for a hot weather 💕💕💕
Cool, I have never seen aiyu in its original form. My recipe uses store bought can aiyu jelly cut up and mixed with lime, water, ice and pineapple juice and chunks. Also very refreshing and I urge any aiyu fans to give it a try.
S.04.24.2021 Hi, Corey and Blueanchor. If the recipe is calling for the figs that are imported from Turkey in the U.S., then find them at your local supermarkets or even at Costco. Unsure if they are the same specie equivalent for the recipe from Taiwan. They should be affordable. Let's say price range is
+Angel Wong's Kitchen Hi Angel, I am Gilia who chatted with you on Instagram. I love the quality of your video. It's nicely taken and love how bright and clean your kitchen is.
For those, who keep asking where to get the seed in the U.S.? Honestly, I don't think we can get it from anywhere else beside Taiwan, not even through Online. But... you can definitely get this jelly in canned in any local Asian stores near your house. I bet it will taste about the same. If you don't know how to find it. Copy this title and post it in Google Image. "Chin Chin Ai Yu Jelly / 親親 愛玉果凍" so you'll get the idea of how it looks like. I already bought it. It tastes great when you serve it with ice or you store the canned in the fridge :) it tastes refreshing and with a lemon tea scent.
There is no chance I can get these seeds in my country, but i was wondering if fig seeds would be okay? what do you thing? It's the same "family" od fruits, so maybe... ?
I'm not sure, but I would think so. Someone else found these seeds in Singapore as well. You may want to ask around at the HK supermarkets or speciality stores.
The jelly itself has a light flavor but when combined with the lime syrup and ice, tastes really refreshing.....not to mention the texture of jelly is pretty neat. :D
Unfortunately, I haven't seen these seeds sold in the US, but if I do, I will post an update :) The other option is canned Aiyu jelly which is premade and is usually sold at Asian grocery stores like Ranch 99. Not as fun to make though.
oh ya you know if I just so happen to be passing by Taiwan..... I will be sure to pick some up on my way back from my trip around the world collecting different grocery items...... :(
This is so cool and interesting O_O hopefully I can get my hands on that fruit over here. It seems similar to something I've had before; unless it was aiyu jelly and I just wasn't sure what it was and just carried on eating it :P
If my Asian grocer doesn't sell the figs, what should I ask for if they don't speak English? Feel free to reply the name in the language you think they can understand, I can then show them your reply. I know the title has the name in the language, but I want to ask for the seeds. I don't think I will find the figs.
While I love aiyu jelly and gave this video a "like" thumbs up, I am disturbed by the fact that Ms. Wong brought seeds into the US. Or did Ms. Wong receive a permit for the importation if aiyu seeds while re-entering the US. I have forwarded link to this video to the US CBP and USDA inspection service for an explanation. Thank you.
She brought back dried figs, which is perfectly legal for personal use as long as it is declared. If you have any concerns about things like this in the future, the USDA makes this information freely available on their website.

How much aiyu seeds do you use if you buy the seeds already separate from the flower?
I'm not sure, I've only been able to use the seeds from the full flower.
