An IV Loading dose is 0.02 to 0.04 mg/kg (maximum single dose 2 mg); the Maintenance dose is 0.02 to 0.06 mg/kg every 2 to 6 hours as needed or 0.01 to 0.1 mg/kg per hour with a maximum dosing of less than 10 mg per hour. Lorazepam is used for breakthrough nausea/vomiting or adjunct to standard antiemetics.
Believe or not doc I would recommend phenobarbital in inpatient, this sounds wild but but I find gabapentin to work better in outpatient, it's complicated. Imo ativan withdrawal is not so good. It's a very complicated topic. Perhaps gabapentin for symptoms and lamictal as well to stabilize?
Hey listen I get biology is different… but I am 31. Between 16-21 I detoxed from opioids a few times. Now I’ve been over 10 years clean. However because of my drinking habits I’ve had to detox from alcohol 7-8 times. Most of the time I went to carrier clinic; Librium based CIWA adaption, plus titration. It was always smooth. Recently I did a pheno type one, I AMA’d because the nurse wouldn’t listen when I said even though my mind felt like mush, I felt agony as if my body was on fire!. Apparently barbiturates can cause agitation
Phenobarbital, does not work for me. For a background, I’ve detoxed from alcohol (several times with a klonopin detox as I was prescribed it), but many times. Librium ciwaw proved to be the most effective: usually 50mg/4 hrs, than that at 3 days, than a titration. Pheno was the worst, I recently went through that, it made my head feel cloudy but my body didn’t stop feeling like it was on fire. Pheno, has a lot of complications that can cause bad reactions Librium, Syrax, Ativan, any long acting benzo will help you detox safely and without pain. There’s a reason barbs aren’t prescribed anymore
Your uneducated. Alcohol withdrawal is fatal if not detoxed properly which means giving patients benzodiapens so that they don't have seizures and die. Your ignorant.
If you would’ve educated yourself before commenting, you would understand that they are doing this simply so the person in WD doesn’t sieze and/or possibly d1e.😊

librium is a lot better for alcohol withdrawal

I have started to take lorazepam fpr alcohol withdrawal... Now i am addicted to lorazepam😢
How long did it take to become addicted to the pill?
@@tylerrodriguez9136 almost 2 more months
@@tylerrodriguez9136
About 4 weeks
How much drinking did you do to merit using a benzo to take the pill??
@@KAI5ER_ I have almost recovered from Lorazepam by dosage tapering
Help your drug addiction with more drugs, that sounds like a decent approach

Benzo withdrawal is not a substitute for alcohol withdrawal... ☠️
Short dose benzodiazepine use is the only life saving technique to help alcohol withdrawal. Check yourself.
I think that’s the most ignorant statement I’ve ever heard
So having a seizure is preferable instead of detoxing properly?
Definitely a terrible take.
That’s not how detox works. I’d be dead without benzos.
That's not worth taking. I wouldn't feel anything from that😢
You aren’t supposed to feel it. It is to save your life from withdrawal or dt’s
