I haven't seen Knorr around here but I do have Maggi, there are several other similar soy or fish sauce based umami sauces, I'm still attempting to try them all, I'll have to get some of this stuff off Amazon.
I'm Filipina and you're absolutely right! Ours here at home is missing for some reason lmao. Was looking for it the other day when I was making gravy to brown it plus, to add some flavor. The original one is the best! I can always add calamansi or chili on my own usually as a dipping sauce. Appreciate the shoutout America's Test Kitchen! 🇵🇭
This Knorr sauce sounds like it may be very comparable to "Maggi" seasoning sauce. It's commonly used in various Southeast Asian cuisines, including India. It's also slightly sweetened - just a few dashes do the trick - It's SUPER yummy!
@@Kuchenrolle I never use it since coming to America....its quite a potent flavoring, and who wants all your food to taste like Maggi anyways...not me. We have to remember that what the Testkitchen showed, was a commercial for the Knorr version. We have so many other options and culinary ways to flavor our food, but for Phillipines, thats probably as good as it gets.
I would like to see a deeper dive into Knorr products a bit. They seem to have a fairly Global footing with divers products from every country. I enjoy their new liquid bouillon both Beef and Chicken, have several Eastern European flavor packets and love their Brown, Chicken, Turkey and pork gravy mixes. They stand out as the best tasting.
I never knew knorr made this before today. If I see it in the market I’m going to try out a bottle to see for myself what it is I thought it was Worcestershire sauce all those years ….
I used to work in a machine shop with lots of Vietnamese people and they had several bottles of this, and some other similar products, in the break room.
My mom is firmly against MSG, due to it giving her digestive issues (but only when large amounts of it are used). However, she is a proponent of Maggi Seasoning Sauce (which she keept calling soy sauce, despite not having soy), which has a little bit of a MSG in it.
On iOS, screenshot and go to the Photos app and long press on the QR code and it should recognize it automatically. Need to have a somewhat recent version of iOS for it. Either that or just type the URL next to it.
Why do you keep returning to this channel if the advertisements bother you so much? Instead of repeatedly complaining about their business model regarding revenue, just find new content to watch. Pretty simple solution to your aggravation.
@@kaylakitty3814 Perhaps you should study how the Internet works and how a forum for comments works. This IS the place where people with an opinion have a chance to share it with other views and with the content creators. I'm delighted that you are so oblivious and indoctrinated by the ubiquity of advertising that you don't find video content that is more than half advertising to be annoying AND "click-bait". @@jsk7591 What does strongly holding beliefs have to do with leaving a non-constructive criticism on a cooking channel on RUclips? Let's call it what it is: You had nothing nice to say and couldn't hold it in.
@@jsk7591You are correct, the comment section is a place to leave opinions and feedback. You voiced your opinion about advertising. I voiced my opinion about your comment. Here's what I found on their product page. I agree the segment should have been much clearer about what it is. "Water, Hydrolyzed Soy and Corn Protein, Glucose Syrup, Salt, Monosodium Glutamate, Sugar, Caramel Color, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate (Preservative), Disodium Inosinate, Disodium Guanylate, Artificial Flavor. Contains: Soy."
Thinking of unsubscribing. Not fond of how roughly half of the video is advertising their books, etc. I understand them wanting to sell those things, but a slight mention is enough already. No need to push, push, push it down our throats every video. That's getting old. I didn't intend to subscribe to their constant excessive advertising.
One minute of my life wasted. What am I supposed to do with this information? Where is how to use it, substitute it, cook with/out it, example recipes...
Not true, the idea that MSG causes headaches is actually a racist myth (not calling you racist, saying that the myth was created and spread by anti-Asian racists). Scientific research has found no consistent link between ingesting MSG and experiencing headaches (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16999713/).
I'm not saying that it doesn't for very select people, but there is no conclusive evidence that MSG actually produces headaches. In fact, this notion started out as a false rumor maybe decades ago, hence the general aversion.
I wish Jack would have talked about both Knorr and Maggi.
I haven't seen Knorr around here but I do have Maggi, there are several other similar soy or fish sauce based umami sauces, I'm still attempting to try them all, I'll have to get some of this stuff off Amazon.
I don't like soy, so Maggi is a great alternative. I do like Knorr bouillon powders, though.
I was hoping he'd compare them. Do I need to buy both? I already have Magi.

Do you mean Wurze by Maggi?
Marco Pierre White definitely approves this message.
Use the stock pot or don’t. It’s your choice!
I was not disappointed this is the top comment
Maggie was first! LIEBSTOECKL herb is the main flavoring agent....LOVAGE herb in English. It's used is almost every German soup.
Maggi seasoning does NOT contain lovage. It‘s made of vegetable proteins and flavoring.
My dad is from the Saarland. Dinner isn't served until Maggi is on the table.
It's definitely not used in almost every German soup.
@@Ferz2006 Yes, it's also called "Maggiekraut" for that reason....flavoring is exactly like Lovage.

Hadn't seen any liquid bouillon from them up here, is it liquid liquid or more of a paste like Better Than Bouillon?
@@jnorth3341It's a liquid, comes in a plastic bottle. It's very good and not as salty as Better than Bouillon.
So interesting to see the fusion of ingredients in Philippines cooking
That's what happens to a country's cuisine when it had an influx of colonizers throughout its history.
I grew up on this and lots of calamansi juice. Thank you very much, for featuring it on your segment! 👍
Their salad dressings (Salatkrönung) and soups (Delikatesssuppe) are fabulous.
In Switzerland we use it in soups, salad dressings, stews or we dunk crispy bread in it.
Thanks for adding actual captions for the Deaf.

Same for Maggi. My mind was blown when I learned they weren't soy sauce.
I used to work in a machine shop with lots of Vietnamese people and they had several bottles of this, and some other similar products, in the break room.
As old as I remember in the Netherlands. Very salty, umami taste. Check ingredients though.
You mean "Maggi"? I don't think it's the same.
Yes, always check the label. Some companies put unhealthy ingredients in products.
Just added to my shopping list.
I had forgotten it for many years.
I love everything i have ever tried from Knorr.

Ok but what is it exactly and where does it originate?
I love the stuff but no idea what it is.
Is this similar or same as Maggi sauce?
I am wondering the same thing.
pretty much. but Knorr>Nestle, because /r/FuckNestle

MSG? Uncle Roger has entered the chat...
Please make a video on liquid smoke.

Used like salt and pepper in Switzerland.
is this the same as Magi ?
Knorr is much better, more flavorful :)
That’s easy, liquid magic.
This is quality AAPI content
Actually Knorr liquid seasoning comes in original and hot and spicy only.
Maggi Savor liquid seasoning has a Calamansi flavor , FYI 😊
Didn't know there was more then one Maggi, I'll have to see if I can find it, what's Calamansi anyhow (okay, I'll google it).

It's Swiss from Nestle

Wait until Americans discover Maggi
Is this similar to Maggi sauce?

Knorr...the K is not silent
I went to the Knorr site and it appears the product is no longer available.
Still on Amazon (US based at least).
I’ve always pronounced Knorr is cah-NOR because of the German name
Knorr could be used in everything! For example, knorr is used for this nothing burger
Seems a lot like Maggi Seasoning.
The K isn't silent
PHILIPPINES MENTIONED
is this the same thing as maggi?
What is it? It’s just msg with other useless garbage. Just buy the msg yourself
After reading the nutritional profile, this is something I can do without. Do better ATK!
A full half of this already short clip is advertising. Wth.
