For Yuel you forgot to mention that not only did she lose the neutral stance parry but EVEN if you time her "new" parry it can no longer beat multi hits like DPs and supers, so you will be punished for hitting the parry and reading your opponent, not only losing your turn but then getting exploded off of a counter hit. So not only is her parry needing very precise timing but you will also be punished for trying to parry things you could parry previously with the auto neutral stance parry before.
This, this right here is the real problem. The overhead is at least somewat excusable as a change, at least it's unreactable even if the reward is far smaller than the risk you take for thorwing it out, but the parry change is absolutley stupid. This counter was SPECIFICALLY made to counter dps (since you could combo off it) and now you are telling me now I get PUNISHED FOR IT ?! Now dps beat Yuel's stance PERIOD (you can't spot dodge them and the only hope you have is to deactivate the stance and pray the lord you block in time), its like if Vaseraga lost his U follow-up from walk. It almost feels like who made this change was abolutley demolished by a random Yuel online because they kept hitting her with mids. I am absolutley speechless.

i've found the people most positive about current yuel is yuel players. she has a really strong vortex now, especially with 236l oki, and what people never mention in these patch notes reads but yools always praise is stanceless 22u and guren, our conversion game is so much better now. it sucks that CH state got essentially removed from stance, and now she can only counter iirc 4 dps, and only about half of the cast's supers, and there arent any stance conversions, but we can still just block. like, worst comes to worst, we block and do a c.h or 66h punish. even the loss of throw~u (whiff)td.5m td.2m isnt that bad when throw~u td.44 td.66 td.2m~u does the same job. yeah her gimmick doesnt beat everything but, worst comes to worst we just do what everyone else does, and what we often were supposed to do before, just with a little less damage, requiring just a little more thought.

I think they very cleverly nerfed her, but also changed how she worked so that she can still be a character in the game, without completely destroying her like what happened to Zato in Strive. But yes boy is it gonna be good to not see mindless Nier mirrors in Grand Finals anymore, you gotta actually know what you're doing with her now to get results.
I don't play GBVSR, but a lot of my friends play it and are good at it (i.e they go to majors and always make it out of pools, and some of them consistently get to Top 24/Top16). Small correction on lucilius: the only buff that lets him get level 5 faster is that his 214M is n gives 1 level now instead of half a level. All the other blade level values for moves are the same. The character still seems mad strong though.
Seeing Yuel down so low does my heart rough man. I wouldn't even mind if she was low tier due to everyone else being strong, but the lack of reward on the stance overhead outside of counter feels pretty bad. They cooked a little with her being able to stance out of ultimate, though. There's some interesting new corner combo's involving her stance 2H in the corner now, but it just feels like a bad trade. Before, people had to make a commitment to pressing a low button against her to beat corner stance pressure which worked beautifully with her 2M prior.
@@Projekt_XIII I hate to say it but the Yuel changes took a lot of the fun out this character that I've played since she was dlc in base Versus. I'd take a revert even if she was made to be like bottom of bottom tier because her kit was just a lot more fun and satisfying to use.
Personally, I think Eustace is really strong, he does take a lot of effort, and I feel like he's the only character in the game that needs to take advantage of their entire kit to win consistently, and having so many tools that Eustace does makes him pretty hard, and daunting. I do think he's one of the coolest characters in the game though.
Lancelot’s jab nerf lowered his pressure and damage pretty noticeably in this patch. The confirm from 2a 2a is also pretty inconsistent since it needs momentum and for some characters they need to be crouching for that to work. The system changes also affected him enough to drop from S to A imo. Still a strong character but his MUs are harder and he overall is weaker than he was.
I don't usually do this, but thank you Diaphone. . . There are so many downplayers of Eustace and Anre. As a master Eustace player, I always thought he was good (even pre-patch). I really respect that you acknowledged that the peak of the character was unknown, because my heart would have been crushed if you put them in B tier for some BS reason. just to generally give the run down of Eustace for you. . .He can zone officially instead of the fake stuff (all his projectiles used to be minus and little pay off). . . He can do DP loops easier and off raging strike. . .and His U grenade became one of the best corner trap tools in the game (it doesn't disappear on block now). again thank you, and keep up the content.
Hi, Lowain main here, his double bro summon buff doesn’t actually work as intended. It looks good if you have fast cooldown on, but in reality, you can only summon the other bro as the first one is leaving. It’s pretty minimal
Dayum, I haven't played in a long time and glad to see my girl Katalina so high. I tried maining her on release but she wasn't as strong back so I switched to Soriz and had much better experience with him.
I stand by that Vira isn't that great. She can be really well negated by meterless dp, since all her stuff are frame traps. Her being able to combo the 5U from 22U is a good change, but fundamentally her biggest issue is that her U skills are not rewarding on hit outside of grand 236U. I was hoping they'd make it so you can cancel run into block. Safe jabs imo are kind of a dumb mechanic to have unless safe jabs maintained a bit of forward momentum.
Her having to use bar to perform mechanics not fit for this game (slowfall, double jump) is fair, especially since the bar once again goes up a bit faster than after the nerf. Also her j.H (or is it j.U? - that crazy jump-in where she swings her sword almost full circle) is still broken (I think I'd be okay if it had about the same startup as Kat's j.U pre-buff). 2B always will be annoying to fight if only because she plays by completely different rules.
I think Nier is much more mid tier thanks to the nerfs. She straight can't play the game anymore without Death which the most damaging nerf imo being that you can't use RS without Death both being alive and unsummoned. Regular combos aren't too bad with the reload routes but spending stocks on pressure is rough and the opponent can force you into recovery time just by teching your grab or BCing you. And without the raging strikes stuff like her anti air is so much more inconsistent so without her having death all she can get on you 90% of the time is far L and you can jump at her like a Kangaroo during her recovery since she literally can't get anything even if she gets the counter 2h. I think she'd be low high if they didn't nerf her raging strikes but without that her states are so polarizing and certains MUs shit on her really badly now.
It must be stated that Djeeta’s anti air game is more consistently rewarding now that she doesn’t need levels or CH for 5U to give her a juggle combo. At around round start distance she can take you close enough to the corner with 214H(x2) that the enemy will reach the wall and stay in range for f.M 236H to connect. Having that kind of consistent anti air dominance makes for a Katalina-tier glow up to neutral, since the greater incentive to present only grounded options lowers mental stack and winds up granting the Djeeta/Kat more opportunities to jump in response. Definitely a huge buff to neutral game…which I suppose is why I’m seeing more Katalina than Djeeta online now. I assume most players picked the former because they WANT Street fighter neutral and only every picked Djeeta to skip to the fun corner dice rolls as quickly as possible with 214H, and when they realized they can’t do that….
I wish Vane's 5U got the treatment Katalina's did... I can't believe they buffed Vane in multiple ways but didn't think to touch the worst move in the entire game.

Sadly this patch made me fall off of my girl Zeta quite badly with the ultimate skill nerfs because I played her largely for them. I love how flashy it is chaining them all together and stylish combos are a big part of why I play fighting games. Even if she's lower on the tier list, I've largely moved to Versusia to get my flashiness fix.
Yeeeah I feel that, I'm sure Zeta is still super juice don't get me wrong, but being to do ridiculous Lance Beam into Lance beam combos with her Ultimate skills was so fun. Still I hope the actual Zeta mains start really digging into the other options of her kit now and doing even cooler stuff.
Djeeta still good Thats good Also her ulti rekka doesnt have pushback near the or at the corner on block anymore so if they block it u expect to be punished. Midscreen should be fine though. Never checked it out.
Ferry was perfectly fine the way she was upon initial release. She was a skeleton of the character she used to be, but she still managed to be pretty decent overall. They broke my poor girl's spine with this one. Allegedly, it was because bad players didn't know how to deal with her. But this change is only makes her worse in any match-up regardless of skill gaps.
I had no idea how to deal with good Metera zoning (I mained Yuel pre-patch) and she got buffed... Ferry was fine, skill gaps will always exist and IMO Dhalsim-type zoners (so Ferry, Axl, etc.) are easier to deal with usually than projectile spammers.
One thing that is slept on with Vira was the changes to the flip move in install and its ability to combo in to fireball. She now has the ability to end a combo with fireball and force you to wake up in to a 50/50. And they added invuln to the back dash from the flip so you can’t even dp the setup with everyone. They sauced up the install and then made it easier to get in to.
The H rekka nerf for Djeeta made me drop her. The thing is, without that wallbounce, you pretty much HAVE to first push to corner then charge 5U or charge fireball to do anything relevant; in a game where charged characters don't have to charge their specials. When you want to play her normally as a 5 star ease of use char, basic ass combos just does less damage. In order to do any significant damage, you have to plan out some specifics starters, and fundamentals will just be ineffective with her. I'm not saying she's bad, she IS strong, but she feels unconforable to play and the 5 stars are a big fat LIE. Yes, all of that because of H rekka no longer wallbouncing. Meh, I'll just play Gran. (Speaking of Gran, 4 years, it took 4 years to finally fix properly M boot. At first too powerful, then for 6 months so shit you could heavy punish the move ON HIT, then just useless until now) Thank you for reading.
I mean, the most consitently "best chara" in gbvs wasnt ferry imo, it was belial. Literally top 3 for the entire life of the game since he existed. I honestly don't see how Grimnir is in s tier. 214u "normalization" is not a normalization, it's now not just punishable by everyone, it's punishable with cm by like half the cast. With universal damage nerf from ults it's now punishable with more damage for the same meter than it actually does. Fh is now a reaction check, 214l is not a ch launcher, plus the universal changes... And what do we get in return? 236u speed and 236m frames buffs are nice, but aside from it, buffer is purely a QoL, his routes with dashes never were that hard, and 66m / 66h range buff is laughworthy, 236m, despite the buff, is still only plus when it leaves at a range where you can't meaningfully use it, midscreen extensions with bigger dash hitstun and 623m changes let you extend midscreen routes with upper seal but how often do you need it anyway. I don't think there is a single better MU except vs characters like nier or lance which were almost only nerfed, and he didn't struggle particularly much against them. I dont get how did he end up higher than before with only a couple of actually meaningfull buffs and overall stronger cast
If from now on grimnir starts winning all the big tournaments, in a parallel dimension, then dia is right. In the real world this proves that all tierlists are total bullshit.
I picked up Yuel because of this patch and she feels great. People dooming on her are hilarious. She's mostly the same just with a few additional opportunities to force opponents to respect or guess. My only complaint about her is unchanged from this patch: I wish her stance was incorporated into combos more.

I am sorry but i believe Zeta is anywhere near top tier when she do actual fucking result, not just in major tournament but also online because for now, she doesn't do shit, Shosan and Zane are the only two who manage to get top 8 and they only get it once each of them, only 2 top 8 in all tournament, that pathetic low for a character a lot of pro describe as so "strong" in theory. Her online tournament are just as bad if not worst, 90% of the cast in this game have better tournament result than Zeta. Saying that she is top tier is forgetting that she is the most predictable character in the game, she doesn't have any bullshit skill or tool that allow her to open the guard for free, on top if this she require perfect execution on very difficult combo with a lot of direction and she doesn't forgive mistake because like i said she struggle to open the guard, she is ultra punishable because she is negative everywhere on her skill, lack of consistent defense. She is the character that need the highest amount of work and effort out of any character in the game to unlock her potential, she have a complex gameplan that will not forgive one mistake. She might be super strong in theory but theory=/=reality, if you need to work a lot harder to unlock her win condition then it's not worth it even if it super strong, better play a easier character to play, with easier win condition who need less work to achieve and get more consistent result. Against noob or bad player she could be low S tier but against just good player she is straight up A if not B tier.
Seeing Lancelot at S is the clearest giveaway that Diaphone does not touch Lancelot at all. As a Lancelot master, he is hot garbage this patch. One thing he failed to mention was that he lost his B&B corner combo, so now he has low health, least damage outside of a corner, and now bottom 5 lowest corner combo damage. He needs twice as many touches to win as other characters. Then all the other nerfs making him far easier to punish. Lancelot is B tier at best and C at worst.
I do agree that it feels like Diaphone doesn't understand how much has changed for Lancelot's combo game. His b&b is shorter and uses more resources for proper okizeme, his wallcling to 5m can no longer combo which misses out on what used to be his strongest combo of 623U> wallcling 5m> 5HHH> 623H> CH> Raging Strike> CH> 214MM> CH> 214HHHH> CM> 236236U. I think it dealt 9650. Overall, Lancelot does feel like he took a major hit to what feels like more than half of his combo routes, but I would still put him around low A to high B tier imo.
It is just sooo frustrating for us Lancelot mains to see him always placed top tier, then u watch competitions and he constantly loses. I had the same with my zeku in sf5.lancey is nerfed to death now.
He never needed high damage because he is one of the most consistent characters at getting the hits needed to win anyway. His pressure and mix are still insane, and a good number of the cast have zero options to fight back, so his matchup spread is going to still be really good.
That lowain buff ain't even real, you can only summon them that fast on training mode with fast cooldowns, on an actual match that "buff" is either bugged or irrelevant.
Well, from my own experience, most tier-lists are irrelevant to non-high level players (I reached S-rank on multiple characters but that's my wall for now). There was a dude on reddit that worked as a teacher and got his class to play guilty gear (+R IIRC). It's interesting to see how different characters are ranked depending on the level of play compared to what most tier lists (made by high-level players) are/
Why is Gran so low. He has great spacing pressure with = frames and can do 60-80% of a health bar off of a lot of starters. I play vs the one you fought at the end of your new character run last video and she ALWAYS does it non-stop in tournys

Ladiva can do ssba level damage off a command grab and 50 meter.

Sadly this patch made me fall off of my girl Zeta quite badly with the ultimate skill nerfs because I played her largely for them. I love how flashy it is chaining them all together and stylish combos are a big part of why I play fighting games. Even if she's lower on the tier list, I've largely moved to Versusia to get my flashiness fix.
Zeta still has very flashy combos, especially out of counter, they just take actual execution now 😅
I got hit with Zeta doing 214U into j.U into 22H and I was like THATS SICK! Her new routes and her new fuzzy guard breaks is insane, just hard to do.
Yeeeah I feel that, I'm sure Zeta is still super juice don't get me wrong, but being to do ridiculous Lance Beam into Lance beam combos with her Ultimate skills was so fun. Still I hope the actual Zeta mains start really digging into the other options of her kit now and doing even cooler stuff.

Why did they do what they did to Yuel?
Ferry was perfectly fine the way she was upon initial release. She was a skeleton of the character she used to be, but she still managed to be pretty decent overall. They broke my poor girl's spine with this one. Allegedly, it was because bad players didn't know how to deal with her. But this change is only makes her worse in any match-up regardless of skill gaps.
I had no idea how to deal with good Metera zoning (I mained Yuel pre-patch) and she got buffed...
Ferry was fine, skill gaps will always exist and IMO Dhalsim-type zoners (so Ferry, Axl, etc.) are easier to deal with usually than projectile spammers.

One thing that is slept on with Vira was the changes to the flip move in install and its ability to combo in to fireball.
She now has the ability to end a combo with fireball and force you to wake up in to a 50/50. And they added invuln to the back dash from the flip so you can’t even dp the setup with everyone. They sauced up the install and then made it easier to get in to.
The H rekka nerf for Djeeta made me drop her. The thing is, without that wallbounce, you pretty much HAVE to first push to corner then charge 5U or charge fireball to do anything relevant; in a game where charged characters don't have to charge their specials. When you want to play her normally as a 5 star ease of use char, basic ass combos just does less damage. In order to do any significant damage, you have to plan out some specifics starters, and fundamentals will just be ineffective with her.
I'm not saying she's bad, she IS strong, but she feels unconforable to play and the 5 stars are a big fat LIE.

I mean, the most consitently "best chara" in gbvs wasnt ferry imo, it was belial. Literally top 3 for the entire life of the game since he existed. Even got nerfed from top 1 to top 1
But i guess the entirety of cygames will just collapse and die if he pays for literally anything so ferry gets most of the flak cos she was good (even if she wasnt as good after the constant nerfs), but was really gimmicky

I honestly don't see how Grimnir is in s tier. 214u "normalization" is not a normalization, it's now not just punishable by everyone, it's punishable with cm by like half the cast. With universal damage nerf from ults it's now punishable with more damage for the same meter than it actually does. Fh is now a reaction check, 214l is not a ch launcher, plus the universal changes... And what do we get in return? 236u speed and 236m frames buffs are nice, but aside from it, buffer is purely a QoL, his routes with dashes never were that hard, and 66m / 66h range buff is laughworthy, 236m, despite the buff, is still only plus when it leaves at a range where you can't meaningfully use it, midscreen extensions with bigger dash hitstun and 623m changes let you extend midscreen routes with upper seal but how often do you need it anyway. I don't think there is a single better MU except vs characters like nier or lance which were almost only nerfed, and he didn't struggle particularly much against them. I dont get how did he end up higher than before with only a couple of actually meaningfull buffs and overall stronger cast

I picked up Yuel because of this patch and she feels great. People dooming on her are hilarious. She's mostly the same just with a few additional opportunities to force opponents to respect or guess. My only complaint about her is unchanged from this patch: I wish her stance was incorporated into combos more.

I am sorry but i believe Zeta is anywhere near top tier when she do actual fucking result, not just in major tournament but also online because for now, she doesn't do shit, Shosan and Zane are the only two who manage to get top 8 and they only get it once each of them, only 2 top 8 in all tournament, that pathetic low for a character a lot of pro describe as so "strong" in theory.
Her online tournament are just as bad if not worst, 90% of the cast in this game have better tournament result than Zeta.
Saying that she is top tier is forgetting that she is the most predictable character in the game, she doesn't have any bullshit skill or tool that allow her to open the guard for free, on top if this she require perfect execution on very difficult combo with a lot of direction and she doesn't forgive mistake because like i said she struggle to open the guard, she is ultra punishable because she is negative everywhere on her skill, lack of consistent defense.
She is the character that need the highest amount of work and effort out of any character in the game to unlock her potential, she have a complex gameplan that will not forgive one mistake.
She might be super strong in theory but theory=/=reality, if you need to work a lot harder to unlock her win condition then it's not worth it even if it super strong, better play a easier character to play, with easier win condition who need less work to achieve and get more consistent result.
Against noob or bad player she could be low S tier but against just good player she is straight up A if not B tier.

Seeing Lancelot at S is the clearest giveaway that Diaphone does not touch Lancelot at all. As a Lancelot master, he is hot garbage this patch. One thing he failed to mention was that he lost his B&B corner combo, so now he has low health, least damage outside of a corner, and now bottom 5 lowest corner combo damage. He needs twice as many touches to win as other characters. Then all the other nerfs making him far easier to punish. Lancelot is B tier at best and C at worst.

I do agree that it feels like Diaphone doesn't understand how much has changed for Lancelot's combo game. His b&b is shorter and uses more resources for proper okizeme, his wallcling to 5m can no longer combo which misses out on what used to be his strongest combo of 623U> wallcling 5m> 5HHH> 623H> CH> Raging Strike> CH> 214MM> CH> 214HHHH> CM> 236236U. I think it dealt 9650. Overall, Lancelot does feel like he took a major hit to what feels like more than half of his combo routes, but I would still put him around low A to high B tier imo.
It is just sooo frustrating for us Lancelot mains to see him always placed top tier, then u watch competitions and he constantly loses. I had the same with my zeku in sf5.lancey is nerfed to death now.
He never needed high damage because he is one of the most consistent characters at getting the hits needed to win anyway. His pressure and mix are still insane, and a good number of the cast have zero options to fight back, so his matchup spread is going to still be really good.
That lowain buff ain't even real, you can only summon them that fast on training mode with fast cooldowns, on an actual match that "buff" is either bugged or irrelevant.

Well, from my own experience, most tier-lists are irrelevant to non-high level players (I reached S-rank on multiple characters but that's my wall for now). There was a dude on reddit that worked as a teacher and got his class to play guilty gear (+R IIRC). It's interesting to see how different characters are ranked depending on the level of play compared to what most tier lists (made by high-level players) are/

Why is Gran so low. He has great spacing pressure with = frames and can do 60-80% of a health bar off of a lot of starters. I play vs the one you fought at the end of your new character run last video and she ALWAYS does it non-stop in tournys

Just hop on and play really. There are a bunch of Discord servers to help you find resources or matches with other beginners. This game really isn't that hard to get into compared to other FGs imo.

They could give them an anti-air move, like the rest of the cast has. A move where if someone jumps at you, you can use it and they will get hit.
