We spent last weekend with a couple on their gorgeous 40 foot diesel pusher Thor motorhome. Three pushouts, one and a half baths. They were so stressed out, they spent the entire time screaming at each other. It was so big and awkward to drive, hard to park, and yes, they smashed the side of it on a rock leaving the trailer park making a right turn. More screaming, more drama. We were parked next to a Casita 15 footer. We went over and talked to them. Happy, relaxed people. No drama, no problems.
Well, we definitely still have drama, but I definitely feel more relaxed and calm with our park-n-go ride. This is a good point, though. The scamp is what we can handle. Thanks for watching!
I drive a truck for a living. I feel like at least half the people driving/towing RVs that fly by me on the interstate don’t really know how to safely handle what they’re operating.

You might know RUclipsrs (Elsa Rhea & Barron) living a nomadic life in a Scamp many years now, mostly the reason I watched your video! That was enlightening Thanks
loved your story - and your Scamp. We bought a 17' Casita in January of 2019 and love everything about it. It has a bathroom that we use for additional storage! and use a lugable loo and lightweight kitty litter for the toilet facilitiy. Have a little pop up we can use if we want it out of the house :~) when we are camped. Put 10,000 miles on our first venture and had an absolutely wonderful time. Almost entirely boondocking or "moochdocking" at friends/family homes. We also bought a 9' clam which pops up in just (literally) a minute and provides an outdoor bug free environment when needed. Great advice - don't wait. Live now. We did some tent camping with the kids when they were small, but this is just a grandma and grandpa run away!
You are the best. Love your voice. I could listen to you all day. I am retired and have been wanting to buy a small camper to travel with my dog to places I haven’t seen and want to.
Hey, that was really fun. Scamp should contract to do their marketing videos and you get full refunded for your 19K or so investment. Win-win! Seriously, you did a heck of a job on this video. No boring moment. Ciao!
lady, what a delight you are! it's funny, because it's all about one's can-do attitude where fun is concerned; you totally convinced me not only about the scamp, but about being a fully-invested member of the human race--you are a great cousin, and i thank you for your wonderful energy, you have given me more strength and lift on a human level than anything this year to date . . . the scamp is pretty awesome too. thank you so very much. 🙏✌✊
Really have been enjoying your videos. Honest, delightful and funny to boot! We will be picking up our new 13 ft (bathroomless) baby within the week. Can’t believe our time has finally come!! What a year it’s been. We really appreciate all the information you provide.
Dang! Can you imagine if this Woman was actually a Sales person for Scamp. Nobody would ever say no 😅 to her. I didn't even want one of these and now I would buy one in a minute! Cool video
The whole dreaded draining the black tank process that is played up in the Chevy Chase/ Bill Murray movies actually turns out to be remarkably simple and doesn't even set off alarms at Green Peace HQ. I approached mine with considerable trepidation, not even draining the tanks until the end of my second trip. When I finally did it I thought, this is what everyone is fearful of? It takes all of 5 minutes, you stash the hose in your trailer bumper, go inside and wash your hands at the sink (no, they don't turn filthy brown in the dump process), lock the trailer door and go on your merry way. Minimal fuss, little to no odor (you do have to be careful to secure your drain hose before you let the honey flow) and you are done in very short time. And it gets easier every time you do it. Your discussion of prices raised my eyebrows as you paid about what I paid for My Casita 17 Liberty in 2017. I guess I shouldn't be too shocked, it is 4 years later and there has been a huge surge in RV buyers (Covid). I don't think you should be too suspicious of the Scamp folks loading your trailer with options, by all accounts I have heard they are good people. All in all, as a former tent person myself, I think you will love this trailer for itself and when your kids get too big to even store in the house you can get a bigger trailer. Be safe!
You make me laugh. We will probably be blackwater tank people someday, but this feels manageable for now. Maybe when I’m 70, I won’t want to empty out a pee bucket any longer. :) I know the Scamp people are good people...it was a bit of sticker shock, though. This is so much better than tent camping, though!
Give it time... Enough campgrounds, enough 'black water' contributors. You'll find sites with dumps that are non-standard diameters, your dump tube will collect hard sediment that you'll need to blow out, pipe will degrade and split at the least opportune time, etc. It's ok at first but it goes downhill fast with use. For example, our 10th time out in the 22 footer. Dad goes to empty black, OH THE SMELL.... Non-standard dump site hose diameter but he can't stomach holding it in with his hands so he tries to use his foot... Mistake. "Let her rip" and rip it did. Right out from under his foot. It was like the 'old faithful' geyser except instead of water it was flying turds.
Same here for the potty. We have a bathroom in our trailer but we use a bag system still. We do love having a shower. My husband drains the gray water into a bucked to dump in the grey water disposal at the camp. We have a jayco x17z hybrid which we love. The tent ends are amazing. We bought ours this year too for the same reason. I had kept my sanity! :-) Happy travels!
Yes, this helped keep us sane (well, as sane as possible. :). We might change our minds on the toilet in the future, but for now it's good. Happy travels to you, too, and thanks for watching!
Love your story! And you are a hoot! We agree with everything you said in this video. In terms of your camping needs, Scamp prices, weight times, etc. and you bought that thing at the right time. Currently if you get on the waitlist for a scamp you have to pay the 2023 prices. And they are a bit shocking to people who are used to the 2019 prices. Love hearing that you were able to make that impulse purchase and that it all worked out. Looking forward to more of these great videos!
Thanks! I love your channel, too! We've always wanted to go to Alaska...maybe we'll try to get our Scamp there in the near future. I feel like we did buy at the right time. I can't belive how quickly they are selling and the wait time now! Enjoy your camping and thanks for watching! Take Care.
@@ladyandthescamp You may try to make your way up and find Canada is so amazing you might not even make it! We are so bummed that we have to move through Canada so quick this summer. We were really excited to take our time as a family and just go at a turtle pace. But, at least they are letting us through.
You are definitely a "natural" at this! Good job! I scored a 2020 13ft Scamp from a cancelled order and absolutely love it. No regrets. Subscribed and will look forward to more of your Scamp adventures!
Just yesterday, I finally got delivery of my 16 foot standard layout 4 after waiting for almost 18 months (since 2021). The whole thing with a few basic upgrades cost me $27 k. The pricing is from 2021 when I put in the deposit. If I ordered one right now with the same exact configuration and the same addons, I'd be paying $30 K.
Plus the best part of this type of unit,,,, No Stinking Rubber Roof Let me say that again NO STINKING RUBBER ROOF great little unit,,,,Congratulations 👍👍🇺🇸
Very useful information, and a great story to boot! The Casita 17’ we have on order is not going to be ready until sometime next year, 2023. We put a $2,000 deposit down on it about a year ago. It will cost considerably more than your Scamp, but, it’s a bigger trailer. It’s all those ‘options’ that you don’t want to live without that drive up the price. Happy Camping
You ....... are a diamond in the rough ...... love your humor oh then there's the camper very happy for your family !!! I bought a 2020 palomino truck camper because my truck has 4x4 to go off the beaten path I never pay to stay at rv parks ..... got me a generator convertor it's whisper quite anyway will be following your journey with excitement your doing the video ☮🤗
Totally agree with you in the configuration. In a small trailer scale, there is essentially no other option for a bunk bed. I will say if my truck could pull it, I would love to get the 17 foot so I could also have a bathroom which would be wonderful.
I want a scamp trailers just like the one that advertises, but instead where is the seat for a sitting or table, there I would make the kitchen with stove and small sink and a medium fridge but like the normal ones, with the refrigerator and the other separate part I would make it a mini bathroom but with the toilet and sink almost close and a small square bathtub but all together, and the separate bed in the back for 2 people. That's what I would do to take advantage of that camper's space. I want to get one like that, where do I get it? And cheap
Well, that is a tough one. The Happier Camper is super awesome and really customizable, but you will pay like $50,000-$60,000 for one. So...maybe you could order a shell Scamp and do it yourself???
You are right on don't wait for retirement. Enjoy life now with the kids. We did and never regretted it. You never know what your health will be like or if you make it to that age. And the kids will be gone before you know it.
my wife and i purchased a 2016 scamp, 13 ft with bathroom, a/c, awning. took us a long time to find but found one in Dallas, tx. paid 12k, we bought it 9 month old and kept it till 2019, sold it 15 minutes, for 13k. its a great camper but we are retiring and needed a little bigger camper so we purchased a new 1808fbs Winnebago which is perfect for our needs. It was hard to find that also but found a dealer in Spokane who made me a great deal Click it Rv.
I have a small Scamp that was abandoned years ago. It needs a good bit of restoration, but it has good bones. I already have too many projects to take this on, so... I'm going to sell it but not sure what it is worth
Our scamp came with a propane furnace, and when we have shore power, we use a little electric heater that works very well. The current campers will not fit in a standard garage even without the ac. I think older ones, older than 2005, might fit without ac, but I’m not sure.
except for a flat tire in AZ in 1992. However, I was preparing it for sale over the labor day weekend and the AC worked, bathroom and kitchen faucets worked, propane heater worked, propane and electric refrigerator worked. The pilot light on the water heater wouldn't stay lit. Also, I noticed a small leak in vicinity of water heater. Because of my limited mechanical ability, I called several RV dealers and they were reluctant to work on the heater. It is because of the age of trailer and the fact that the manufacturer of the heater is no longer in business. I talked to Eric at the factory this morning. I came to conclusion that I will have to remove the water heater myself and hopefully find the leak. I am not sure if I will replace the heater with a newer model or tankless heater or just rely on cold water only. I have never used the shower because I used campground facilities. I never had a to wash cooking utensils because I used paper plates. I would rinse off a spoon, fork or knife in cold water. So, the Scamp has been terrific! I tow it with a Dodge Dakota, 1987 model. I never felt the need to get a larger or different model.
@@rwelch5357 I wish I could say the same. I've had so many problems with mine. I don't know if I got a lemon or if they are just making them differently now.
Install a equalizer hitch that offers sway control and you are good to go. Thank you for not hooking up to a 5000 lb unit like so many people do when they have a small vehicle. Enjoy Camp'n
You should do what I do, line the toilet bowl with a kitchen garbage bag, do your business, tie it up and through it away. It never goes in the tank and you get to have a bathroom in your rv, best of both worlds!
We have a 73 Boler (pre scamp) and it’s a great little egg. The older models are a bit lighter and have a bit more storage but the larger sleeping areas in the new models would be really nice. :) We towed this little fella from Michigan to Idaho and back with a 2000 VW Jetta and it was a piece of cake to tug along! 😁
That’s cool. We wanted an older model but they were impossible to find. My husband is tall, so maybe the bigger bed is necessary. Either way, glad you enjoyed your egg!
Yes understand about the toddler my nephew is extra everything everyday and I'm looking to purchase a scamp or meerkat so we can go camping. Thanks I'll give this a try.
@@ladyandthescamp You are a delight to listen to! BEST personality for doing a video! Having raised five children and going tent camping several times a year I could relate to much of what you talked about. Looking back I would have given anything to have a trailer! That just wasn't something anyone we knew used. Now I want a Scamp....without the yucky toilet! Buckets are better.
I agree with everything. :) Five kids in a tent is something to brag about! You must be a tough momma! We feel lucky to be able to just pull up and start having fun. :) Thanks for watching.
Have looked at the Scamp online many times. One of the biggest selling points to me is low exterior maintenance. Traditional travel trailer designs will require more maintenance over the years, especially on the roof. The membrane or skin used on the roof of most travel trailers is fairly thin and requires routine maintenance which is fairly costly if you don't do it yourself. If you develop a roof leak that makes its way into your flooring be prepared to spend a lot for repairs. I don't see that being a problem with fiberglass shells like the Scamp and Casita. However, if you have an auto accident with one, fixing a cracked or damaged shell might be tricky business. Personally, I think the Scamp is a great design. Just keep it washed and waxed or treated with whatever they recommend and it will likely last a very long time.
Oh the fun of getting a brand new Scamp.. mine is showing it's age some now but I'm still happy with it. I've had mine for 10.5 years now. It was a little later than I hoped for delivery, I had planned on picking it up on my return from Missouri to Alabama in 2010.
Lady and the Scamp I watch videos all day !!!! I was actually looking at scamp and casitas in November 20 ? Nobody was calling me back ... and yes impossible to find one. I settled for 2021 Winnebago 1708 fb ? Anyhoo your video was perfect and like someone else comment? This is your calling. Thanks again for the laugh !! It’s what we all need .
This is my first video of yours so you may answer this in a subsequent video...but, how do you all fit in a 13 foot? I am deciding between the 13 and the 16 and the 13 seems so small! It will mainly be just me, but I will want room for one other person or my daughter and 4 yo grandaughter. Oh, and I have to have a bathroom. Thanks!
Congrats on the Scamp! The first summer I had my camper, I didn't want to use my camper's toilet. I have a portipotty, which I put in a pop up shower tent outside. I used it for just liquids. Add the toilet enzymes to it and it will not smell. They will liquefy solids, too, as well as rv toilet paper. However, I just had a small trash can I put paper in. I wasn't used to dealing with wastes. Having the portion potty is great to not have to go so far to restrooms in middle of night. Lol.
I'm pro-porta potty. For sure! We had an outhouse for some time, so it's not super hard for me to empty a bucket. :) Thanks for the suggestion and I'll check out the enzymes.
Congratulations and thanks so much for sharing the info that most videos forget to share the cost of different options. God bless and may you have many years of fun trips with your family in your Scamp!❤️
Just an aside: Trail Manor is built in the wilds of South Dakota. Not a fiberglass camper but still nice. I love your description of the evolution and your quirky delivery. Have Fun!!!
We bought a brand new 13' Scamp for $1300 in 1976, enjoyed it for 30 years, then sold it for $1000.
wow! You got your money's worth, for sure!
Wow that's impressive they are well made. Thank you for sharing I appreciate that.

You are definitely a "natural" at this! Good job! I scored a 2020 13ft Scamp from a cancelled order and absolutely love it. No regrets. Subscribed and will look forward to more of your Scamp adventures!
Thanks for the compliment! Glad you got one. You’ll have a great time with it!
Whoa! Crazy price increase!!!!
Plus the best part of this type of unit,,,,
No Stinking Rubber Roof
Let me say that again
NO STINKING RUBBER ROOF
great little unit,,,,Congratulations
👍👍🇺🇸
Thanks! There are many pros!
@@ladyandthescamp your not going to believe this,,,,I found one today 6/21/21,,,,its not new,,,,waiting on the people to call me back,,,,,unbelievable
Good luck!
Yeah, we like the casita, too. But it was too heavy for our Subaru. Happy travels to you when you do get yours!
Have fun and how fun you got your own scamp.
Thanks!
Absolutely love this family informational video on the Scamp I know people who own them and I never really got it till now. Thank you
Glad to help!
After months of research I have decided on a 13' scamp with bath pretty much for the same reasons you said. I think you got a deal!
Yeah, the ere are pros and cons to everything. Have fun!!!
Good for you....ENJOY and have fun!!!
Thanks!
You ....... are a diamond in the rough ...... love your humor oh then there's the camper very happy for your family !!!
I bought a 2020 palomino truck camper because my truck has 4x4 to go off the beaten path I never pay to stay at rv parks ..... got me a generator convertor it's whisper quite anyway will be following your journey with excitement your doing the video ☮🤗
Thanks!!! We have a solar kit that seems pretty good. We think more boondocking is in our future. Thanks for watching.
Totally agree with you in the configuration. In a small trailer scale, there is essentially no other option for a bunk bed. I will say if my truck could pull it, I would love to get the 17 foot so I could also have a bathroom which would be wonderful.
You are FUNNY! Super enjoyable watching you and your story. Congrats on the sweet Scamp!! Have a blast!
Thanks for watching!
Cute and so are the Scamps
We bought a Boler (predecessor to the Scamp) back in 1985 for 3k, every year people stop by and try to buy it but we have kept turning them down.
good to know!
Love the Scamp! You did a really nice job 👍🏻
and you are beautiful!❤️👏🏻💯🇺🇸
Thanks!
My pleasure!😊
You were SOOO ENTERTAINING!!! 😻
Why, thank you. :)
You are right on don't wait for retirement. Enjoy life now with the kids. We did and never regretted it. You never know what your health will be like or if you make it to that age. And the kids will be gone before you know it.
Thanks! I appreciate that advice. :)
my wife and i purchased a 2016 scamp, 13 ft with bathroom, a/c, awning. took us a long time to find but found one in Dallas, tx. paid 12k, we bought it 9 month old and kept it till 2019, sold it 15 minutes, for 13k. its a great camper but we are retiring and needed a little bigger camper so we purchased a new 1808fbs Winnebago which is perfect for our needs. It was hard to find that also but found a dealer in Spokane who made me a great deal Click it Rv.
That’s awesome! I hope I don’t lose on ours when/if we decide to sell. Happy travels!
I have a small Scamp that was abandoned years ago. It needs a good bit of restoration, but it has good bones. I already have too many projects to take this on, so... I'm going to sell it but not sure what it is worth
Not sure. But it will be purchased very quickly!
How do you keeping warm when outside is freezing? Can your camper park inside garage even with a rooftop air conditioner.thx.
Our scamp came with a propane furnace, and when we have shore power, we use a little electric heater that works very well. The current campers will not fit in a standard garage even without the ac. I think older ones, older than 2005, might fit without ac, but I’m not sure.
THANK YOU GREAT VIDEO
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info! Have a wonderful time in your scamp.
Thank you!
Love your channel! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
Great Information!
Thanks. Check out my other vids if you like scamps. :)
I purchased a 19' Scamp Deluxe model in 1987, new in MN. I still have it. I never have had one problem
except for a flat tire in AZ in 1992. It is because of the age of trailer and the fact that
the manufacturer of the heater is no longer in business.
I m with u I love made in the usa and made in Minnesota that’s what I love about scamp and more affordable🇺🇸🇺🇸💕
Install a equalizer hitch that offers sway control and you are good to go. Thank you for not hooking up to a 5000 lb unit like so many people do when they have a small vehicle. Enjoy Camp'n
Thanks!
I ordered one Jan 21, scheduled to be built September 22
wow! Which one did you get?
This was a fun romp through your adventure! Thanks for your very good report. Peeing in Mother Nature is the best. I’m with you on the poop too.
Thanks for watching! Take care.
This is a great video.
Thank you. :)
You should do what I do, line the toilet bowl with a kitchen garbage bag, do your business, tie it up and through it away. It never goes in the tank and you get to have a bathroom in your rv, best of both worlds!
That's a good idea. We also have a little bucket toilet that we use for #2s and the kids. But this might work better.
Too funny.... but I get it. 😁
Great story! I'm glad you're out there using it.
Thanks! We are, too!
Your cool as hell and really funny! Lol!!
Awww...what a nice compliment. Thank you.
Gurl! That lip color tho! 🔥🔥🔥🤩
Thanks! I am embarrassed to say is is 7 years old...maybe I shouldn’t admit that!
@@ladyandthescamp it’s super cute on you tho! 🤩🤩
Thanks!
I like it..classy!!
Thanks!
Yes understand about the toddler my nephew is extra everything everyday and I'm looking to purchase a scamp or meerkat so we can go camping. Thanks I'll give this a try.
Good luck and enjoy!
Does a scamp have to be winterized in the winter if you don't use it or if it's extremely cold? All other campers have to be winterized
Yes. We didn’t have to do it this year because it was empty and brand new. We’ll figure it out in November this year!
Loved your video!!
Thank you so much. :)
Good info, funny and hope everything goes well in your life.
Thanks!
Did you consider an aliner or other a-frames?
We did but we wanted something a little bigger for the kids.
Thats a nice set up. I really like the scamp.
Thanks!
😂🤣🤣
You are a blast of fun and honesty!
Thanks!
You're so hee-yappy! And you make us hee-yappy! Our niece has one and loves it. We are most likely going to get a Scamp!
I'm glad she likes her Scamp! You could have Scamp camps together. :)
Yes, I need to figure out how to take care of the outside. I’ve not done anything yet.
Lol. Amazing. I'm sold. My first camper will be a scamper!
Awesome!
You’re so good at this!! Really enjoyed this video.....new subscriber!
Thanks!
You are so cool and very informative video. Glad I watched it.
Thanks! I’m going to show my kids this so they think I’m cool. :)
@@ladyandthescamp HaHa!
Helpful video.
Thanks. I try to answer all the questions I had before buying.
Oh the fun of getting a brand new Scamp.. mine is showing it's age some now but I'm still happy with it. I've had mine for 10.5 years now. It was a little later than I hoped for delivery, I had planned on picking it up on my return from Missouri to Alabama in 2010.
That’s good to know! Thanks for watching!
I really like the scamp someday I hope to buy one thanks for video
Hope you do! They are a fun toy. :)
Very interesting story
Thanks! Check out my other videos!
Get the app RV Parky. It will tell you which walmarts and cracker barrels allow overnight parking, as well as regular campsites.
Thanks for the advice! Will do!
Best video ever ..... thanks
You’re welcome!
Thank you!!!
Thanks!
We fit. :) Here are the measurments. ruclips.net/video/j_K25iT0xQU/видео.html
Awesome video.. You're too funny.. I can feel your pain about getting out of the house. I love the pointing feet lol.. Congrats and thanks..
Thanks! We are very lucky to be able to get out and do all the things now!!
You make me chuckle. I like you. 👍🏼
I like Scamp campers. But, ummm, virtually all RVs are made in the USA. A few are made in Canada. Have fun camping!
Definitely didn’t know that! Lol! Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
Can we really consider Indiana part of America?
Congratulations and thanks so much for sharing the info that most videos forget to share the cost of different options. God bless and may you have many years of fun trips with your family in your Scamp!❤️
Thanks!
Less than 20K in today's world. Good deal. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I love that it is made in America
I learned that most are made here and in Canada. But it is an American pasttime. :)
Hi! Love ur Scamp. BUT! WHAT ARE U PULLING IT WITH? HOW LARGE OF A VEHICLE?
Thanks! I have it in a couple other videos, but it’s a 2017 Subaru Outback. :)

Just an aside: Trail Manor is built in the wilds of South Dakota. Not a fiberglass camper but still nice. I love your description of the evolution and your quirky delivery. Have Fun!!!
