this truck paired with the 2.7 is going to be a real treat. that blue in the xlt trim is beautiful. wheels and tires look great from the factory.

My favorote thing is that Ford just makes the rear locker a relatively cheap option and doesn't put it behind a massive pay wall. If only the others would do the same. I shouldn't need to buy a decked out "off-road" trim to get that.

The Colorado has a proper limited slip on almost every trim. Pretty sure the rangers “rear locker” is just using the brakes like the Tacoma

      @@dawsongranger4940False.
The rear axle in the Ranger is a Dana Adventek M220 (new version of the Dana 44, similar to new Bronco and late model Jeeps).
In the open diff mode the computer terrain modes do modulate brake torque, but the electronic locker has splined lock plates that lock the two axle shafts together with magnets and a spring apply plate.

Great video Steve. Looking forward to seeing your full review.
I am planning to order a Ranger Raptor soon as my local Dealer has an allocation available. I am mostly wanting to see how well you fit in the driver seat and how everything feels to you.
We are similar size, big ole boys, you're an inch taller than me.
For me so often, I feel very crowded by the B pillar placement on smaller 4 door cars and trucks.
So, if possible, please get some footage of yourself in the driver seat and please describe how comfortable it feels to you.
Would love to know how it feels to you getting in and out of it and if that B-pillar is crowding you etc. etc.
Very much looking forward to your take on these new Rangers. So far there are none in stock anywhere in my area to go set in myself, so looking forward to hearing all about in your reviews next week.

I was very much looking forward to the new Ranger, then I saw it at the Tampa auto show last November, and walked away completely disappointed. Coming up from behind the truck, the first thing I noticed is that there’s no bedliner. Now does that really make a difference? No, but this is your show truck. This is what you’re putting out to impress people seeing it for the first time, it is an XLT model like the one in this review, not a stripped down level and there’s no bedliner? Not a great first impression, it immediately made the thing look cheap, which is going to be a common sentiment in this review. Next, I open up the drivers door and looked at the seat. It looked really nice and then I ran my hand over it. Now maybe this is made with some ultra durable, neutron laced bamboo, but the first thing that ran through my mind as I felt the material was that I’ll be amazed if these seats aren’t splitting and tearing in 6 to 9 months. Getting into the truck I looked at the steering wheel. Now this particular truck had a lot of buttons on the steering wheel. A lot of very tiny buttons. For me here in Florida, not really a big deal, but anybody that has to wear gloves, four or five months out of the year, good luck pushing the right button every time. Then I saw there was no push button start, you needed a key. Is this an end of the world thing? No. In fact, I’ve never even owned a vehicle with pushbutton start, but again this is your show truck setting the first impression and it’s not the stripped down model, it’s your mid-level XLT in 2023 (at the time). Then, I went to lift up the center console. I had already sat in both the Jeep Gladiator and Chevy Colorado, and opening those center consoles resulted in a nice level of resistance and feel. Opening the center console on the Ranger, I won’t say that I thought I was actually going to tear the thing off, but it was so lightweight, with so little resistance the only word that comes to mind is flimsy. Same for the switch gear for the windows and door locks. Are they good enough to last the life of the truck? Maybe, but again they gave me no feel of confidence. Lastly, was the knobs at the bottom of the large screen. Looking at them I almost laughed. The center knob is literally the size of a quarter. I had one in my pocket and took it out to check. The left and the right knobs are maybe 25% larger. Again, will they work? Yes, but this is a truck and the tiny knobs just looked comical sitting underneath that gigantic screen. Given all these things, I just don’t see myself ever buying one, unless they really undercut the pricing of the competition.

I'm in the market for a mid size pick up. With the way pricing is going, it's almost better to buy used if you have the money outright. My budget is under $50,000 Canadian. I want a dependable vehicle, not overly concerned with tech. I've had more Ford's than any other car manufacturer. I've never owned a Nissan, but the Frontier is where my ❤ is. I really love the seating and styling :) I'm also looking for something that will get me 10-12 years with regular maintenance. I prefer the v6 naturally aspirated engine as well.

Shame about the bed length - that is just a little too short! Most motorcycles have a wheelbase 55-59", so you'd have your motorbike sitting with the rear wheel way out on the tailgate, if it'd fit at all. Seems a bit sketchy. The 5.5 ft bed on the older Frontier we have is about right to haul a sportbike. Rear tire just touching the tailgate if in straight, or if in the bed diagonally, you can close the tailgate. I guess renting the U-Haul motorcycle trailer is needed for a track day with this unit, then.

Great video! I like the modest look of this Ranger. But I have to admit, the Tacoma and Canyon both look better in my opinion! But 2024 is the year of the midsize truck. All refreshed and all battling it out.

I went into my local dealer to inquire about the Ranger. He told me he didn’t know when they would get any. He said only 5 were allocated to dealers in the immediate area.

Unfortunately the 2024 model year 4X4 Ranger's can't be towed (Flat Towed) behind a motorhome, that's a real bummer. 2019 thru 2023 models can but not the 2024's.

Much better then the original version. The grill is much better looking and not as generic looking. I'm not a fan of the unnecessarily tall vertical entertainment screen, half the size would have been just fine. But at this price point your practically the same cost of a low mileage certified used F-150 that has more options, is more durable and looks better in my opinion. The size difference at this point is minimal. I appreciate the inclusion of the 2.7 V6 and Raptor option but again is hitting F-150 territory and for my money I'd rather have a low mileage F-150 with a better warranty and reliability history. I would suggest leasing the Ranger or at least compare it to the F-150 side by side. If size is your preference and you don't tow anything heavy or often the Maverick is a better choice. The Ranger would be better for consistent off roading or towing. Landscaping companies etc. But again the Maverick is a better option if the towing is light and the size is the main preference. If Ford would put the same 2.3 in the Maverick and up the payload and towing capabilities then the Ranger would be unnecessary. Perhaps Ford should have done just that and the Maverick would have just been the Ranger. Now the Ranger isn't much more maneuverable or smaller then the F-150 so again what's the point of this out going Ranger? Take the more options, power and durability of the best selling pickup truck 🤙🏼❤

The payload sounds like the best part about this truck. The design looks like it should have came out in 2020.

Need to make the twin turbo standard for the entire lineup to simplify production and maintenance requirements. Only part of the trucking segment that is holding up is medium duty Toyota Tacoma and Chevy "taco killer" Colorado. Ford Maverick is the only truck really and truly selling at the moment both in numbers and dollar amounts tho. Full size trucks are all electric is what is moving with Tesla really starting to truly dominate US vehicle sales period at the moment. An amazing amount of amazing product out there right now but asking prices for what buyers are in fact getting for that exorbitant price #not_good in fact bad. Motorcycles are even worse at the moment. UTV and ATV market remains crazy hot though which does bode well for the US truck market.

Not enough to make me move from my '21 5g tremor....was hoping for a '24 tremor to upgrade to ....i lack heated seats and mirrors which I find ridiculous not to be standard in Canada....my understanding is its NOT standard again....that said i do believe all rear sliding window options are powered now which is a nice addition....2.3 is plentiful for me....not interested in the 2.7....although probably a hoot to drive not interested in paying more for an engine option that most likely gets marginally worse fuel mileage....decreases truck payload and almost assuredly results in no increased towing capacity.
Raptor is nice ...but not for 80k+...or 70k+.....crazy talk
