Woohoo! DCC for the fun of it! Dragonbane will be worth the wait, I am sure. We have so many great games and never enough time to enjoy them all as much as we would like. Glad to hear your list of 5 honoring things. The comparison with the early game is a great reminder. I find few games recreate my sense of wonder as well as DCCRPG. Enjoy the con. Cheers!
Fred, thank you sir! You know a lot of times now I think that our OSR games mimic other OSR games more so than the source material and there is a difference. DCC was a trailblazer and yet, they made sure to stick to rhythm that Gary provided.
Love DCC and MCC :-) I jumped on their Backerkit that just finished the other day as well for The Purple Planet stuff (old content plus tons of new stuff)
@@booksbricksandboards783 I think so ha I am also new to it so worth it for me. Got several hardbacks with tons of content one for purple planet plus new stuff, one with a ton of DCC core adventures, one that is all the Lankmar stuff and one other I cant remember ha plus stuff by third party creators all bring shipped together so much better. I am done with content for a long time lol plus the kickstarter stuff the last month 😅😅
Yeees! Two years on and DCC (and its derivates) is still my #1 RPG. Don't get me wrong: I still love Savage Worlds and had a lot of fun playing Starfinder last year, but DCC checks all the metaphorical boxes for me. Your #1 is spot on. I played 5 games of DCC at CincyCon last weekend and let me tell you: DCC tables have a unique, evocative, and manic energy.
Not Tim, absolutely! DCC was for a couple years my go to “somebody couldn’t make it today, wanna run a funnel?” game. I was trying to remember, but I ran somewhere around 20-25 one shots of DCC, primarily for one group, but a few others too. I never had a time where we got done and they weren’t jacked about it. They always acted like they just got off of a rollercoaster, and metaphorically they certainly did! Cincy Con was likely a blast, River City Con had some of the same folks behind it.
@@booksbricksandboards783 We need to meet up a Con between our homes someday. It'd be nice to sling some dice with you, buy you a cold beer, and give you a big ol' hug.
Tim, you are on brother. We will play a con game sometime and have a beer! After Gary Con, next possible for me will likely be Gen Con, then definitely thinking about River City and Cincy next year.
Cool. Miss Dragon Magazine, snarfquest never die. If there is one thing I would love to see make a big comeback it's puzzletraps. Loved when the DM would hand the party a mini booklet full of symbols and weird artifacts.
PS: I am looking forward to your video on Dragonbane. I have held the core rulebook in my greedy hands a couple of times at my FLGS. Mallards and Wolfkin?! Sign me up.
Not Tim, I did a play video and a “first thoughts” video on the box set about 6 months ago. Spoiler, the game is VERY good. I just got back from trivia night, so once the kids are in bed I will begin the process of shooting and editing. Should have the new video (which will be a complete review) late tonight!
Another commenter mentioned this, which I wasn’t aware of until the comment. The copies I have were very open about referencing Gary and Dave, so I’m glad I have an older copy. That’s too bad that pandering became more important than giving credit for the inspiration of their works.
I know that was what got me into the game, but I have had a couple of viewers say that they have scrubbed him from more recent printings of their books. I know that many companies started to take similar stances over the last couple of years, so that wasn’t altogether surprising but it was disappointing. I know that in the printings I have, I appreciated their acknowledgment of the inspiration for their game. I can’t really speak to any more recent copies or products as I haven’t bought anything in the last 2-3 years probably.

I got the emails on that project. I will probably regret not getting it later! Lol

Well the Lankhmar in particular I really enjoy.

DCC is my favorite game! It's a blast to play, the art is absolutely fantastic and the adventures rule!
I do enjoy some DCC. Welcome back to the comments Midnight!

I should mention, DCC has at least one of those, in the Shudder Mountains campaign!
Great job, love DCC.
I had a ton of fun running this for my group. Lost a lot of characters and used many a death stamp!

It honors the spirit of Gygax by removing references to him from the RPG manual.

I would actually say that Goodman Games (and even more so Troll Lord Games) does more to honour the memory of Gary Gygax than WOTC does.
