Thank you guys for taking the time to come out to the shop and film! we really enjoy kicking it with ya’ll again. Also, thank you again for partaking in our youtube video🙌🏿 can’t wait to film more with ya’ll ✊🏿
Outta curiosity, what did you guys do about the key ignition for the new column?
Its still using the factory key and ignition for the original 240
Wild car. Mom had one when she was a teenager. Spoiled
Beautiful build……ticks all the boxes!
Ok, guess you just fabricated something to surround it
I’d NEVER say a car is missing power windows! This is an exceptional build and the manual windows are perfect for it.
Cars before they got so boated and big...easy to reach over and roll er down at a stoplight
I would have to agree with you 100% we don't need no stinking power windows😊
I see your point, but power windows are a must have, they allow straight forward enjoyment of the car, its not a lazy trivial mod, its a control that you are constantly using while driving, and shows dedication to detail, I'd ditch the sound system for power windows.
Only annoying thing: people always pull up next to my 280z at a stoplight and want to compliment it or ask a question about it. I have to try and do sign language to tell them I can’t roll down the passenger window lol
@@apollo6139 Exactly, the aforementioned non power windows advocates above never had a cool car. This guy builds a phenomenal car and states it needs power windows, but keyboard jockeys know better....GF'd
That is a first class Z. knocked it out of the park. Paint, motor, wheels, brakes, interior... and a great exhaust sound.
A cool son, putting a cage in for his dad. I love the build and the background too. 🙂
I love seeing such high quality builds like this where so much detail and attention was put into it. Leather wrapped roll cage is so sick.
Virtually a PERFECT combination.
DAMN!!!!!!! THAT Z IS THE GOSPEL!!!! THE TRUTH!!!
I remember a lot of Chevy V-8 "Scarab Z's" back in the 70's!
This build is very nice & one of the best sounding exhaust on your channel man!
Had 2 in the 70's the first had a 283 chevy,, the second had a 289 tri- pwr had a bunch of problems with the yokes- till i upgraded them at the trans & diff& suspension was beefed up too// this unit looks beautiful/ we ran with the scca then, still have them and a couple right drives too ended buying 4 more 14 years ago when my friend and racer died, he didnt want his son to beat them up but i sold him a 280 after all it was his dads street car he still has it.
My wife &I hit some of the car shows once in a while, & i drive them all when im feeling well. My son & grand kids love to be seen in them. Someday they'll all have one ,xcpt the racers, those will be going to a some younger friends that wanna make drift cars!
THAT is how you do proper flares hell yes man!
Attention to details...they flow real well. Never was into the generic rivet on stuff.
Super cool ride...not too overpowered, clean tasteful and just plain fn fun.
Diggum smacks! lol
Many moons ago there was a V8 powered 240Z that showed up at autocrosses the Toronto area. That car was a beast and this reminds me of it. Love this machine
I love how this channel can show you the every day garage budget build to the most expensive shop build , yet treat each car like it's a work of art. One of the best pure auto channels on YT. Period. o7
Beautiful, tasteful build that respects the original soul of the car. WE NEED more high end builds done this respectfully !!!!! The current "contemporary" style builds we see so much of nowadays are already dated. I think the way forward to the future is classy builds like this !! All I would change is chrome bumpers!
The passion for engineering comes from all walks of life and this is a great representation! Especially when a son pays homage to his father.
For where it all began.
This car and video is off the chart.
The body work alone is beyond fantastic.
His attempt to keep it deceiving and make everything look close to OEM.
While he cleverly stuffed HUGE rims and tires.
That's just scratching the surface.
Totally glad I hit the watch button as I was about to go to sleep.
Definitely will check out his other builds.
Lastly the best part is the homage to his father. 👌🙏
Agree!! Love the build plan on this one. Easy to overdo stuff and lose the car somewhere.
Like to know who his interior guy is..nice clean work looks like. That really makes a car.
@@gordocarbocalifronia upholstery does our interior work!
Thank you!🙌🏿
These guys killed it!
That thing is gorgeous!
Dudes went to art school for sure.
Buddy did a 327 swap in a 280 Z 2:02 42 years ago ...sick .... it did need some bigger rubber in the back so it would hook...and that was what made it all work!.
That little Z is a ROWDY girl!!
Stevie's dad gotta be one proud Papa beautiful Z car Love the green metallic paint job interiors phenomenal❤
This shops work is second to none. Great project vision
SICK! JUST FREAKING SICK!
Damn that thing is so smooth. The steel flares worked into the bumpers and all, looks factory. What a great build.
Props and respect to him for keeping it so tasteful. Respect where respect is due.
Wow what a beauty!
i dont say this about very many cars, but this one is perfect. stance, wheels, colors....perfect. (and i'm not an import guy at all.) well done! 👍
The 240Z is my absolute favorite.......truly classic. Correcting the lack of hp is job #1. Great-looking ride and fully capable of humbling most anything on the road. Great photography! The color, the stance, the preservation of the Z-car looks.....Stevie nailed it. Looking down the hood of it reminded me of the Vega with 327 I built back in the day.....wonderful nose.
I've always thought the old Z cars were some of the sexiest cars ever built. This one is just gorgeous. I can't think of a single thing I would change about this build. It's just perfect.
Now that takes me back in time! My buddy had one of these back in the day with the the turbo 6, man that car would move!! I immediately started looking for me one too of course v8 swap it, (383 sbc) but just could never find one withing my budget. So I started building s10's and everything else under the planet.. but this car right here is a master piece!! GREAT JOB BROTHER!!
Very tastefully done. I worked for Nissan 37 years and that is my favorite Z build.
MY FIRST CAR SENIOR YEAR IN HIGH SCHOOL, 1981, WAS A 1970 MG MIDGET WITH A FORD 302 AND A C4 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I BLEW UP THE REAR END DOING DONUTS THE FIRST WEEK. SO I SAVED UP MONEY, PULLED OUT THE ENTIRE DRIVE TRAIN AND CLEANED IT ALL UP, AND ENGINE BAY AS WELL. PAINTED THE ENGINE BAY SATIN BLACK, 100 % RE WIRED THE CAR. PANTED THE ENGINE YELLOW, FLAT WHITE INTAKE AND EXHAUST MANIFOLDS, GLOSS BLACK ACCESSORY BRACKETS, SATIN BLACK, AND ALUMINUM COBRA FINNED VALVE COVERS, GLOSS WHITE TRANSMISSION, WOOD DASH WITH DIGITAL GAUGES, FULL CUSTOM CARPET, AND OMG, GOD AWFUL AND TEMPORARY MUSTANG REAR END. TOOO WIDE !. GOD IT WAS SOOOO QUICK. HELL THE CAR DIDN'T WAY ANYTHING. IT HANDLED GREAT AS WELL DUE TO EXTRA HEAVY DUTY SWAY BARS, AND STIFF AIR SHOCKS. STEERING WAS EXTREMELY QUICK RATIO AS WELL. 1.5 TURNS LOCK TO LOCK.
Great build. Really appreciate the effort put into the fender flares.
The rear flares are literally the only thing I don’t care for on the entire build. They just look a bit too large imo.
Love em too!! Did flares up like these a lot in the 60s 70s 80s.
No cheap looking screwed on cr4p
I have a 71 and this is the dream. Great build!
Jaw drops around the block as the sounds from a V8 engine roaring
The color
Sounds
Cleanliness
Unbelievable
Another one of the timeless gems restored to today’s high standards
This Z is BADASS. I had a 75 280 Z and always wished it had a v8. I got rid of it because of the rust problems same stuff. Beautiful build. And this is a car that gives smile's 😊per miles. LOVE IT
Loved these Datsuns since I was a kid.
Nailed the single exit exhaust, this car sounds so freaking good 🤌🏼
This is making me look at a datsun IN my area
Great build. When I started painting cars back in the early 80's Datsun Z cars were the main cars I worked on,loved them.Keep up the good work.
You weren't kidding about the sound man...wow, what a sick 240Z!
This is an amazing build! Everything about it is just perfect
Always loved the "Z"
Wow!! I love these early Gen Z cars. Grew up around these when living in Hong Kong as a kid…this is arguably the best 240z I’ve ever seen. Everything is so perfectly implemented. The rims are beautiful, loving the subtle flares, the colour is amazing! Congrats guys. What a stunning build! ❤🔥👏🏼
We did this back in the late eighties. 327 in a 260z it absolutely destroyed EVERYTHING! We couldn’t keep rear in it though to save our lives. Ended up running out of donors in the mid 90’s. 😂 👍🏻
And still the No. 1 Samurai.
One of my favorite cars on here period.
My favorite so far. Sick AF
Thanks to the film crew for getting the amazing audio!
That exhaust note is perfect
The basic design is timeless
Wow, these guys really know what they're doing! Great build.
Saw this car at the L.A Auto show. It's Beautiful!
Awesome Z, awesome video, as Usual.
That’s a badass little car would love to have one just like it
I was thinking this was in the IE then they said Al and Ed's. gotta give props to SS motorsports in Simi! they did some great work on my subaru
Reminds me of the 70s nova I had. Fun times. Never thought I'd see a Datsun I'd like.
This matchup is CRAZY. What a car🎉
What a beautiful build, just perfect , wow !
Beautiful car! The color, flares, and the rims ❤ and the interior!😮
Hell of a car ad review...I got my 1st ticket in a Datsun 280zx.. Something about those Z cars..Great Build!!!!
That a very clean Z, sounds great.
Absolutely a Beautiful Ride!! Love the Look and done So Right!! If I ever get the Dinero to get a car built, having this Shop do the work. Bravo🤙
Bad ass I’m in the middle of this with the body getting ready to go on the rotisserie as well can’t wait for it to be finished. Stevie killed it this one
Body work is perfect and it got V8 under the hood. Great episode. Greetings
The PERFECT build... a total BAD ASS!!!! 😃👍
I have always wanted to build on of these. The body style is just awesome
Beautiful Z brother great job great man for building that for Pop's
Smh man the attention to detail is impeccable on this Z-car wow what a badass ride. 🔥🔥🔥👍🏿
Beautiful bodywork, flawless.
Awesome, props to great sounding exhaust build, sounds almost old school. Most LS swaps sound horrific because poorly under baffled. Great Z build with super tasteful body work and perfect power.
Sweet and simple build
Beautiful car! Very good work. High class.
Funny how his dad looks as young as himself lol
TASTEFULLY DONE!!!🔥🔥🔥
I have a 77 vega ive been building and its a old school small block. But this video really made me want to really get it done.
What a build! Great story
Absolute-Z!!! That was bad ass!!!
I like the way he gives props 2 his dad👍🏽👌
I did not have a father😮in my life😮💨😪
lots of love lots of smiles! keep the crank windows. Let's you remember the good old times :)
I’m fnk in love with that Z 🔥🔥🔥
“Ulterior Motives” is a badass name for an aftermarket mod company 😂
Beautifully stunning!
If you have seen the movie the Jerk, then he must be family of Steve Martin 😂, this a joke. Nice build. Beautiful car❤
Old School! Hell with the rest the old school is the best!
In the words of the late great Ron Simmons "DAMNNN!!!"
Stevie Wonder..one makes great music..you build great cars bruh💯!!
Damn that's a good looking 240Z
that aint hes dad thats got to be hes older brother ,he looks like 5 year older than the son ,beautiful Z ,i love every damm thing ,10/10 AAA TOP SHELF
*This has inspired me to continue my 280z build , currently searching for a 1jz gte to put in*
The green with the peanut butter guts is a perfect contrast.
That’s one of the nicest Zs I’ve seen. Beautiful.
Reminds me of my old 1971 Datsun 240Z it was orange with some super rare 3pc DP Racing Motorsports rims.
Beautiful car. Thanks 🫶
OK, a close look at american V8 swapped imports and euros...I'm so here for that. As long as they're not all LS swaps lol. Loving this little breakaway here, so cool.
Awesome Build!
Awesome build, brings back great memories of riding in my best friends moms 240z as a kid, love those cars!
The ute behind looks dope
Take one of these all day before a late-C3 or C4 vette
ah man spectacular choice in rims 🔥
Faster than the one I beat with my 72 Catalina with 400 ci. Always thought they’d be better with a V8
I actually love this build. My dad had a 240z too 😢
Excellent work. Excellent car.
