Sammy passed away before the internet took off but, I bet he would absolutely thank the entire internet for their kind words. I'm related to the Will Mastin family by marriage. Although Will Mastin wasn't Sammy's blood uncle, he loved him as much if not more than his own father and took care of both of them until their dying days. Will had a condo in a tower just across the street from the Ambassador Hotel where Bobby Kennedy was assassinated that had a swimming pool on the roof. I remember swimming there at night and seeing all the lights of the city. I only met Sammy a couple of times because he was really never in one place for very long. Always working and honoring his commitments. He broke down a lot of doors to get where he was and hopefully the newer generations appreciate that.
His good friend and work partner Frank Sinatra helped break down some of those doors for him. Marilyn Monroe helped Ella Fitzgerald when a club she played wouldn't give her first billing. Marilyn told the club she would take a front row seat every night Ella had top billing. And Marilyn did that.
Yes, sad to say.. The internet began to gain popularity and widespread use in the mid-1990s, after his death, so he did not live to see the internet as we know it today.
I'm here today because I had a dream in which I saw this legend in all his musical and performing glory.... Sammie Davis Junior; a little man with the most enormous spirit and talents that reach up to the sky and back. I am here to acknowledge him; to remember that he once was and will ever be.
I rewatch this and all his videos over and over. OMG he was SO wonderful. It broke my heart the day he died. Taken from us way too soon. Love you Sammy. You were the BEST bar none. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
It has taken me 50 year to understand the works of Mr. Davis. Remarkably, now I listen and return to the begining.I feel the hidden, the emptiness, darkness and that which is without limits - water!

I grew up in Los Angeles and knew where he lived, but as a teen didn't realize the significance of him until much later in life. I kick myself as I could have said hello to Sammy and Nat King Cole.
Like he used to say, "Never let them say you didn't give it your all" he would say, "You want them to say, he performed for me man, he gave it his all". Thank you, Sammy you're the best,
I met him in London in 1961 back stage. Nobody comes close to this man. He was very generous with his time chatting to my friends and I as Jian Collins and Anthony Newley looked on.
ABSOLUTELY A ONE-OF-ah- KIND human being; And he is a two time national QUICK DRAW CHAMPION! I saw him on Ed Sullivan Show demonstrating against an OFFICIAL CLOCK! VERY DEEP. Anybody remember Sammy Davis Jr. on "The Rifleman" as a gunslinger? I do, and BIG TIME.
