In the heart of the evening rush, we visited one of BART"s most architecturally recognized stations, Glen Park, to film some legacy train action on all four lines.
Captured are SFO and Millbrae trains heading south, and Warm Springs, Richmond, Dublin/Pleasanton and Antioch trains heading east and north.

Glen Park station is considered to be one of the most architecturally beautiful stations in the system, so much so that it is being considered by the California State Historical Resources Commission to be added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The station is one of the finest examples of Brutalist architecture in the Bay Area, and while most Brutalist structures are considered ominous and bleak, Glen Park has somewhat of a structural aura to it. As a result, we filmed in a more cinematic sense than usual to showcase both the station and the trains passing through.
The station was designed by Ernest Born in the early 1970s, and was his last architectural project before he passed away. The exterior is mostly bare concrete, as is the interior, but the station manages to play with natural light to strategically illuminate parts of the station.
Sunlight shines through the glass roof and makes its way down the station's long escalators, giving the station an almost sublime appearance from platform level as one ascends to the station concourse. Inside, the polished-stone walls meet rough concrete, with a delicate balance existing between artificial and natural light illuminating the station's platform. A marble mural greets passengers as they reach the top of the escalator.
If you've traveled to Glen Park, let us know what you think of the station and whether it should be put on the National Register. Otherwise, enjoy these shots of BART's legacy trains passing through the station.

I'm not normally a huge fan of brutalist architecture but I've always liked this station a lot.

Used to be my home station, and I could sit on the platforms all day watching trains go along. Used to love watching trains during rush hour cause it wasn't too crowded, and it was fun seeing all the different and somewhat rare destinations only used during the rush, such as North Concord, and Concord

Always a fan and supporter of PT. The scenes that you see, and the experiences you carry from every trip were thrilling whether they were by the city buses to college, train trips to mother's place, or long distance bus trips for projects/ training at work in India, to taking Amtrak to Sacramento 25 years ago with spouse, to solo trip on BART from Dublin to SFO away from my 3- month old for a few hours, from SFO International to home, and to the latest, Milpitas to Lake Merritt with the now grown up child, I enjoyed it every time. Best wishes to Bay Area Rapid Transit.

November 2023 will mark this station's 50th anniversary. I think it's still the most beautiful station in the BART system.

Transbay tube is the only section that I’m 100% certain trains operate full speed but you can’t see much as it’s under the bay…
