It is a joy to watch your ink swatch videos. As a newbie I learn a lot about the inks and it’s characteristics. Sometimes, like today I make a note of an ink to try for myself; love the Great Owl. The mystery ink, it makes me curious, looking forward to see it travel in the community.
Haven't used actual ink since elementary days. 1960s Scheaffer with cartridge. Stop laughing, was a big deal back then:) Watching your swatching, I can see how it would be addictive. So many pretty colors. Watching the difference between wet and dry. It definitely falls into the 'oddly satisfying' category!:)
The mystery ink makes me think of Stipula Saffron? But that is really the only yellow ink I’ve see that doesn’t shade orange🤷🏻♀️ I agree with you that RO’s Purple Hippo doesn’t read purple. That was my thought with Noodler’s Nightshade as well. I’d be interested to see those side by side. We are no longer choosing to use Noodler’s so we recently picked up Birmingham Pen CO’s Prickly Pear as a substitute because Nightshade was my wife’s everyday ink and we are both happy to find it is close, but leans more purple if you are interested in exploring that hue a little more. I find it a lovely pop of contrast to autumnal oranges and browns. But I’m definitely a seasonal ink color person and I know not everyone is. I am endlessly fascinated with your swatching videos, so thank you for sharing! You inspired me to swatch all our inks and samples and I just got chromatography strips which the science geek in my is so excited to use🤓
Thank you so much for your comment! I'll put Stipula Saffron on my list of yellow inks to explore. Hope you are having fun using the chromatography strips! I love seeing how the ink wanders up the paper strip and separates into the different colors.
Love the purple of Great Owl. But I’m wondering if maybe labels got switched with Purple Hippo? Then I looked it up - Nope! It really is purple and pretty!
The mystery ink reminds me of Dominant Industry Citrus Yellow. I looked it up on Mountain of Ink, and all of the comparison swatches look like it! Lol could it be one of those?
Banana slug reminds me of Herbin Nude. Works great for Caucasian skintones, if you do anything with that? Nude is way more illegible in writing, me thinks. I'm liking the purple leaning inks!
The mystery ink is a fun idea :) Love Fountain Pen Companion for keeping track of inks, such a great resource. Speaking of resources, I'm working on a Fountain Pen look-up / comparison tool. It's a Google spreadsheet with the idea that you can sort and filter based on measurements, filling mechanism, body material, etc. If you have a chance, I'd love any input / feedback, and I'm very open to ideas to improve it. If I post the link the spam filter deletes my comment, but it's linked in one of my most recent videos.
I am wondering if the mystery ink could be Pilot Iroshizuku 100th Anniversary ink Daikokuten? Ancient Song inks come from China, and as far as I know they are all shimmer inks. Robert Oster "The Great 🦉 Owl" is a special edition for an Western Australian online Pen & Ink store The Deskbandit🐨🦘🦉🙂

Here. For. It. Listened during my morning commute, and watched later when I could see all the visuals 🖋💕🤗
I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Enjoyed watching. Thanks.
I'm glad you had a great time.
Thanks for sharing. Like you I am also drawn to purple inks. Awesome idea to have a mystery ink circulating for everyone to try and guess what it is.
Unfortunately, it's a very small sample. But this could be a fun thing to do as a bigger youtube collab, too.
Beautiful! I’m so curious about the mystery ink! 🤘🏼😸🧡🖋
I am curious too!
seemownay !!! love the ink swatches !!
So happy you love them.

LOL @ It looks like a sick salmon!

Yeah, no, I looked that up too.

I need to get a sample of that for sure! Thanks for pointing it out.
I'm guessing the yellow ink is Robert Oster Yellow Sunrise, especially if it's been sent from Australia :)
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add it to my list to investigate.
I was thinking Diamine Sunshine Yellow. These were all lovely colors.
Could it be Platinum mixable Sunny Yellow (aka no 20)?
I'm not sure. But I'll definitely check it out.
Vaness Pens is the only place, that I know of, who still carries PenBBS inks.
I saw it on deskbandit, too.
Banana slug reminds me of Herbin Nude. Works great for Caucasian skintones, if you do anything with that? Nude is way more illegible in writing, me thinks. I'm liking the purple leaning inks!
Banana Slug is just that: sluggish and not the prettiest. I'm glad I don't own a bottle of it. LOL.
"It looks like a sick salmon" 😂
I didn't even remember I said that. I'm glad you had a laugh!

Thanks so much, Kendall! I'll check out your tool, too. It sounds great!
I thought of Helianthus when I saw your Instagram post… 🤔
I'm thinking of doing a yellow ink exploration now. I feel very compelled.

It might be. I don't have a way to find out because I don't have access to that ink.
