imo this show is best in japanese purely because the VA's are so good. The english dub is serviceable but nowhere close to the japanese. Especially with all the vocal quirks that a lot of the characters have, like Emilia with "sugooooku" which is how fortuna says it, or Beatrice with "kashira", or petelgeuse with his award winning acting, or Roswaal with his stretched words that may be reminiscent of Hector, etc. I just love this sub so much

Roswall saying he destroyed her homeland is a bit wrong within the proper context. I haven't read the light novel so I don't know if he uses those exact words. It's more apt to say that he knew about about it but allowed it to happen as the book seemingly only told him to save the sisters Rem and Ram and not the entire village. It does however bring up a very interesting point, I wonder whether him saying that shows a true crack and separating him from his delusions as Ram puts it. Does it now show that he feels responsible or regretful of that choice?
This is correct, that line was a mistranslation. It would be more accurate to say he is "responsible" for what happened to their village because he knew it would happen and did nothing to stop it. Their little "he who lives by the sword shall die by it" exchange refers to them having an agreement that he will let her kill him out of revenge after she helps him achieve his goals.

Frederica replied by saying, she and Garfiel had different Fathers, implying that to be the reason. She probably worded it like that, because Rsowaal told her to hide it, or maybe it was just an oversight on her part. but it was definitely implicated strongly, that Garfiel was halfblooded.
It's kind of funny how she refers to as "Roswaal's voice actor" instead of his name, considering Koyasu is in like, everything lol. Dude is one of the most prominent voice actors alive

So, from the power scaling of the world to give how strong reinhard is: (skip if u feel power level of known characters as spoilers) 1. Satella: Witch of envy (Killed every other witch ofc, and still living in flesh even after dragon+sage+sword Saint tried to stop her) 2. Regulas Corneas: Archbishop of Greed (per author's interview: him vs all other witches except envy & archbishops combined can't kill him in an all out fight with him being the only survivor, while just witch of sloth can drive the dragon away from waterfall to have a rest) 3. Reinhardt: The sword saint (his sword has dragon claw scratches as the alleyway goons even identified by. Usually sword saints have been a bit weaker than dragon I think, he may be on par) 4. Dragon beyond the great waterfall (who protects the royal family & nation of lugnica. May be on par with Reinhardt)
Fwiw I think the dub is pretty good for re zero in terms of tone. Hearing I suppose in English for Beatrice is a little weird but roswaal does the sing songy thing well
The dub was the first version of Re:Zero I watched. It's definitely not as good, but it's not bad. There are ones that are as good or slightly better imo (I really like Betty and Ram's voice actresses, Otto's is another pretty fun), but I find the flamboyant Roswaal grating (the menacing Roswaal is actually fine). Subaru falls lower than the Japanese dub, but he does sell the range of Subaru's emotions well. Probably the worst part of the dub are some of the translation issues, in particular the "Emilia-Tan" getting changed to "Meeli." There's not really a good solution to it in a language without honorifics, but Meeli just doesn't work well. That said, if you've already seen it in the sub and you want to experience it again, the dub is not a bad option. I would take the Steins;Gate dub over it, though.
This is NOT A SPOILER, as it has already been confirmed by the author really early on. Reinhardt is absolutely, without a shred of doubt, the strongest character in the verse. Iirc, only Satella is maybe comparable to him, so he’s definitely the strongest character alive. That’s how absurdly strong he is.
If reinhard wants the entire re zero world would be no more 😂he is that powerful but bro acts like he is background character season 3 will show how monster of a guy he is
If you guys find the time definitely re watch it dubed not only does a re watch of re zero does so much to your perspective of the story and the dub equals the sub performance hell id say better just cause i speak English so the emotional sceans hit harder

the dub for ReZero is lacking in a lot of ways, it's one of the "better" quality dubs out there but it's severely lacking compared to the JP version. Take Subaru's big episode in season e 18, Sean Chiplock does a pretty decent job with his voice but he just doesn't get the point across of how much Subaru loathes himself. It's the same with Ray Chase. But the problem with that more than any other is that he's doing the English voice for a character voiced by Takehito Koyasu who, he's Mfin Dio for God's Sake, the man's a damn legend as a VA who puts 100% of himself into everything, you can't not be the lesser vocie actor against Takehito Koyasu. And Reinhardt's not "the strongest" character in ReZero, not by far. He's one of the strongest characters you've met up to now, but he's nowhere near "the strongest" character.

@@bryangarcia5207 there's about 7 or 8 people who can kill Reinhardt in one shot, his list of Blessings are huge and they give him a great advantage but there's people who know what those are and how to circumvent them. For instance, you remember how Elsa threw the dagger at him in season 1 and it just veered off course like magic? That's a blessing and the blessing involved is the ability to divert projectiles he knows are coming at him. Sounds OP (and it is) but the easiest thing about it is to send one at him that he doesn't know about and there's those in ReZero that are faster and stronger than him. I'm not going into spoiler territory here as one of the people I'm mentioning is in season 3 and the reveal of that will be epic, but yeah, there's people who can body Reinheardt pretty badly.

In terms of absolute strength i’d say rein is top 3 if not THE strongest character in re:zero. However you are also correct that certain characters could defeat him (although i think that’s wishful thinking in many cases). Without going too much into spoilers, the author has revealed that the world will pretty much not let him die. Just because he doesn’t know about something happening will not be enough to permanently kill him. He’s the strongest character in arc 5. The only rival to him in arc 6 is a certain chopstic man. Arc 7 and 8 we know the strongest is weaker than rein. Yes, he could be defeated through preparation theoretically, but we have never seen it actually work so it’s all theory, and whether or not that makes the other character stronger is another discussion within itself.
