Quite a bit of oil on the passenger plugs. It looks like your valve cover gasket is leaking. I’d suggest changing that out before you start getting more oil your cylinder. Great video by the way.
Amazing video. I am doing my research and will be attempting this myself as I am being told by subaru that it will cost $680 for this service (getting my 60K service). I wanted to ask if you used any antiseize? or any other items not mentioned in the beginning of the video? (ratchet, extension, 14mm sparkplug socket, and sparkplugs)
@@dwdchen5514 Get the “thin walled” 14mm spark plug socket. It will give you a little more room. Just search it up and use the words thin walled and they will pop up.
Nice vid, my brother showed me but he didn't understand I have a GT and from the angles I'm seeing your engine either sits higher than mine or is more foward because my rear spark plug is directly blocked by the frame
The rear drivers side plug is always the worst on Subaru’s. I’m guessing that is the one you are talking about. I’m not sure what the frame situation is on the GT. I did my Crosstrek too and that plug was way worse than this one. Hardly no room between the frame and the hole. Like maybe 1.5 inches. Had to piece the parts in to get to the plug. I’ve heard it’s expensive to take it somewhere because sometimes they have to raise the engine which is ridiculous.
found a spec on a blog site - says 13.3 ft lbs. I'm setting my torque wrench to 14 (old analog wrench) and calling it good. Thanks for the video@@Subariblet
Took me 10 hours my gf got a v6 there was a spark plug on the driver side that took my 6 hours to do bc I couldn’t get to it bc the space was 2 in wide I had to wiggle and maneuver shit was wild but the the passenger side took me a hour so much easier
Man that’s crazy. I read some threads that said that the V6 were really difficult. The 4’s are enough of a problem but the 6’s practically impossible. They should make the engineer that came up with this setup the change the spark plugs in his garage by himself with regular tools before they release a car.
@@Subaribletyeh the 6 banger has 3 on each side the passenger side there was space even for the one in the back but the driver side I allmost gave up I got the fucker off and had get a skinny Rachet w a extension for the spark plug socket then had to grab it w my hand I’m re living this terror right now 😂😂😂
Those two vertical 14mm bolts to the frame rail derailed my complete sparkplug replacement work. Hummed along on the passenger side, but those factory torqued bolts to the battery box was a showstopper. Need an extra long 14mm wrench to complete this project. Thanks for a good DIY video.

They gonna charge me 580 for everything I never changed the spark plugs in a Subaru. Only fords and Mitsubishi but imma give it a try

No engine lift needed. It’s tight but can be done just like I did.

If you use the same NGK plugs that I used, you do not need anti seize. NGK does not recommend that on their plugs.

It was a pain to get out. Hardly no room and used a longer wrench because I couldn’t use a socket.

I have no idea. They are just snugged up. Didn’t want to strip them out in the aluminum.
