Loved playing this game during my childhood but never finished it. It has great music, an interesting premise, cool weapons/devices to use, and solid stages that had the player revisit in order to complete said stages. Couldn't make it past "New Freezeland: Frosty Retreat." Its lip-and-slide ice mechanics were such a pain to tackle. I kept dying because of this and also because of sometimes uncooperative camera angles.
P.-S. Also, its OST was pretty dope. I enjoyed how the music changes when you go into stealth mode, from loud to quiet, adding to the game's ambience. A dditionally, I would make mini-remixes, too, whether Spike was or wasn't in stealth mode.
On that stage, that's why I end up just spamming the gadgets I have, though I kinda end up falling a lot on that part. I know what you mean on the uncooperative camera angles, a bit weirded out how it works from time to time. Especially how I had to spam the camera button multiple times just to set it up at my front. At times I got lucky making across the way, like in 1:33:25
You're killing me with that super hoop. Sure it makes you faster, but watching you trying to kill mobs, stun monkeys, and turn dials with it has drained me of years I'll never get back. Thanks for the nostalgia though.
back when you could play a game the same day you bought it and didn't have to spend 2 days downloading and copying and buying dlc packs because they didn't bother to finish the game before they shipped it out
ooooooooooooooh... wait a second... after all these years, i just noticed something. so i thought it was kinda weird tht Specter would build an entire amusement park just to mess with you... but then when you start the level, he says "welcome back to the amusement park"... i thought it was just filler dialogue or a weird translation, but only now like 20 years later do i realize that this is supposed to be the same amusement park from the beginning video before you even start the game. they only showed it for a couple seconds. i played this game a lot back in the day... idk how i'm just now realizing this.
I'm glad you like it :) I plan on doing the same thing with Ape Escape 2 and 3. But this time, including all the minigames (like Monkey Football, Monkey Climber, and Mesal Gear Solid) and all art galleries of it Though it might take me a long time to finish... But it's definitely on my list!
I heard the music start at 4:24:13 and I just had the worst memory of being stuck in this one spot for a loooooong time. Probably my least favorite place in the whole game lol
The Roller Coaster part is the worst for me (4:10:35). Instead of having fun with the minigame, it was really hard to beat. I remember back then, I had to call my older brother for help to pull this off. Reminds me of Tomba 2's mine cart lol
@@K1PM Yes! The roller coaster was the second hardest for me too! My mom had to beat that part for me lol. My problem was the stupid clown in the circus. I could never get a hit on him without dying.
ah crp, you're right I forgot to include the time attack part, I'll change the title for the correction of it. I'll upload another different video that includes the time attack of it, later on. Not used to uploading long videos that much, thanks for the heads-up though
I just want everyone to know this is the best game ever created
absolutely right!

Ah… such a simple time in gaming history. When you could have fun just using gadgets and catching monkeys.
It's awesome this game is now on PS+ Premium...with trophies!
I honestly thought this game was a fever dream or something. Anyone else felt like that
what a special moment in time this game was.

The OST are great, been loving how they match it well with each of the stages throughout their main titles. It gets better until Ape Escape 3
Reliving my childhood to help me fall asleep 🤣
My opinion I feel Spike is the best protagonist of the ape escape series

Just messing around with the game, I always loved that spammable hoop spins for the whole series. To the point I kept using it a bit too much at times

Basically, PlayStation’s Super Mario 64. But I always thought it was Spyro the Dragon.
I hadn't played that game in years since I was kid
Best adventure game ever made
I wish they would remake it for new console but keep it exactly the same story and vibe
4:12:18 lol i don't think i've ever gotten a "game over" in this game before... i didn't know Specter would show up to be a dick like that.
That coaster ride caught me off guard, it kinda feels like the jumps were delayed for that section
Thanks for the helpful vid. Just got the plat today

Good
3:27:20 was WAY TOO comedic
I wanted so badly to replay this game but my PlayStation isn’t working anymore😭
5:17:32
This game is weird
How? This Video Game Is Legendary. Especially In All Of Old Classic Video Games History. Know Your History Man.
100%??? But you didn't do the Time Attacks (or at least you didn't timestamp them). You need those for max completion.

Dude, you get hit by the simplest enemies, get good
