I will say I appreciate the videos even if they're games that I can't easily get. The more my shelves have started to overflow the more I'm trying to learn to be okay with living vicariously through RUclips Reviews.
I just pre-ordered the 2nd Edition. Your efforts were not in vain. Kickstarter content included. This Vid solidified my intent to throw my money at it. Much appreciated!
This is certainly a rising genre. I’m in the hunt for one of these low player count adventure/dungeon crawl card based games and I wanted to back this one when it was on KS but shipping for México was unavailable. Now I am trying to decide between Legends Untold, Forgotten Depths (right now on Ks, but with expensive shipping for me) or the much easier/cheaper (since it’s listed on Amazon México) Unbroken...
Great game, fun to play. Got mine yesterday and I am on chapter 4 , losing one adventurer so far. This is a pick up. Any one that likes Escape the dark castle, will like this. Can not wait for Hildegard.
The sequel Spire's End: Hildegard looks AMAZING and is clearly a streamlined, enhanced version of SE. The issue is... $45 for the game and $24 for shipping + import taxes for a deck of cards and a few dice is bat shit crazy. I wish Gregory would consider a more retail-friendly strategy. Given how impossible it is to find a copy of Spire's End it looks like the sequel is another lost cause. Sigh.
I didn't back this. Damn. If you were to choose one.. Escape the Dark Sector or Spire's End ? Need to get me one of these. Like the story driven kinda old school gameplay. Cheers! :)
I went for Spire's End over Escape the Dark Sector. Mostly because of the price diference, but I also think Spire's End has a more unique world setting. I liked that it has a KDM vibe.
@@RiffLair shipping is expensive, plus I would want the expansions, and big box to store them, so would have to pay shipping twice... maybe on the next ETDS KS I'll back it, or not 🙂
Is this also in the vein of Adventures of D 2nd. ed. and Dark Venture? Is it almost all combat, or does it feel like there are quests, exploration, and other substantial non-combat activities? Thanks!
There are non-combat narrative encounters, for sure; it's basically a Fighting Fantasy book in card form. I'm still waiting for my copy of Adventures of D! Just arrived in the US via DHL.
This is why I hate kickstarter games. Either you make a several hundred dollar complete blind purchase of something a year or more before its out, or you pay 10 times it's actual price to scalpers.
Mine arrived today Daniel. I backed it based on the art alone. No idea how it plays. I saw the use of cards and the fantastic artwork, that was enough for me. Separate topic Daniel. Have you had chance the play Dungeon Universalis yet? I just backed the latest KS.
Wooops! Stopped watching at the 4 minute mark as I will be digging into my copy this weekend. And yeah, the art (the little I've seen so far) is great!
I really have no idea. I have no kids and never play games with kids, so I can’t say at all what is age appropriate. Totally disconnected from that. Sorry.
Not really a fan of these sorts of games but this looks really interesting. It looks really well-polished and I'm really curious about the card backings and other odd details. It seems like just the levle of polish where the subtle clues are there for a reason.
Hi there, nice video but I had to turn it off about halfway through because I started to feel a bit sick. Is there a way for you to stop your microphone picking up on breathing/swallowing/mouth clacking noises? It’s really off putting ☹️
@@TheDungeonDive Honestly dude I dont mean to be rude, look at it as constructive criticism. You must have one hell of a decent mic but its basically "overperforming" !
It wasn't rude. I know it's an issue. I have an overactive mouth and year-long bad allergies. :) I think my new mic is a little better. I also do zero post-processing / editing. Just stuff that comes along with my style and time limitations. :)

Thanks for the video! I'm late to the party but am planning to grab everything Spire's End on the next campaign. 😊 It looks amazing!

This and "eila and something shiny" are games i plan to get in future as they are up my ally recently
Hello. I was the one who recommended this to you.
(I commented on your Fallout Atomic Bonds video about a week ago.)
Thanks! :)
I also have similar feedback about combat. This might be my first BGG review after I get through all of it. 5 different endings so far.
Pretty sure I recommended it (Josh). I know he wants to do a reprint from his emails and KS updates. Hope your coverage helps, looks awesome.
Thanks!

Damn... this artwork is fantastic. So it the overall graphic design. I want.
It's got a fantastic look. Total stunner.
Wonderful design. Just wonderful! I hope there will be expansion(s).
Mine is still on the way :D
In case anyone is wondering, this game is awesome.

Thanks Daniel. I'm currently deciding between this and Escape the Dark Sector. Any advice on which one to get?
If you want a cohesive single story experience get Spires End, if you want something more random that you can play over and over, get Escape.
@@TheDungeonDive thanks! Will you see most of the stuff in Spire's End after a single run through the story?
Maybe 3 plays.
He has a sequel on KS right now!

Escape the Dark Sector. More replay value, and more expansions coming.

I backed this. It’s great! The art is outstanding. It feels just like a Fighting Fantasy book but with far more gameplay depth. Highly recommended.
Dang! There is always a precious little title i miss on kickstarter! I love the art, love the writing. Needs a reprint, will back :D

@@TheDungeonDive Would you put Forgotten Depths in this category too? Since you have played it, where does FD fit along the complexity spectrum?
Very different kinds of games. FD feels more like a game, where is this more like interaction fiction with some game elements.
Really sad I missed this one on KS. Looks like a special little game. Thanks for the vid!
Yo, you can pre-order the 2nd printing. Gets shipped in May. I just ordered it.
@@derrikdiaz340 ohhhh I’ve got mine ordered, but thanks for the heads up!

Great! Enjoy it. Oh yes, I've played DUN a handful of times. It's good! I've got a playlist on the channel devoted to it, with a review.
The Dungeon Dive . Thanks. Great work as always. I make sure to promote your channel where possible.
Thank you! Appreciate it.
I had backed this but ended up pulling my pledge because of the combat system, loved everything else about the game but I just couldn't get over that.

Wished I backed it
