I’ve never had a Berkshire or split ring fail, I use nothing but Berkshire. The soft ground Berkshire stake with 30 inch cable is my soft ground, river bank, go to and they are a chore to pull. Thanks again.
Perfect timing! I just retired my rebar stakes and switched to the freedom brand disposables and was debating about fasteners to the disposables. Thanks for the help, Dale!
Dale, thank you as always. I love the equipment videos. I do remember those Berkshire stakes. They are better now for sure, I use them 100 percent for my disposables
Yessir A bedrock firm fastener is essential to keep your animal and your expensive trap. I think of it as if I might catch a t rex or a sasquatch. A trapped animal can wreck a setup if you didn't make it sturdy enough. Proper fastening is time well spent. +1 for Cumberland Good people and service. Thanks for the video
I put a name tag on my dog's harness with a quick link from Home Depot. Somehow she and her sister opened it (probably while wrestling), lost the tag then closed the link back. I found the tag and keyring in a remove part of the yard away from the road so I doubt a person helped. I don't run traps yet but when I do, they won't have a quick link unless I add blue threadlock or something else to fortify it.
I wish my ground could get along with earth anchors , but they just dont jive ! I made some a long time ago that are the real deal .... when I could get them in the ground where they needed to be !
If I were going to use that type of stake James it would be the high desert spear. Which was the original!! It was stolen from a man in Montana by a man in Tennessee and then called the wolf fang.
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 I talked to Kurt at No-BS and it’s true. Plus they use a higher grade of Steel and it can’t bend as easily. Plus they will stay in the ground better because the fangs aren’t bent.
I use them all pogos are OK and wolf fangs are OK to . But I got sandy soil and rocky soil. I still use 3.5 steel stacks to. I do trapping for the the workout and the exercise.
I did years ago Paul. I used the Iowa disposable stakes. The arrow heads. The bullets. The supers. I've tried most all at one time or another. These are what I've settled with
Very well explained! Thank you for sharing my friend!

I like the spilt rings on my footholds. I had 2 open up on me on power ram snares. One was a moose and another was a bear on my snares.
I could see where those 2 animals could open them Northern Trapper. Fortunately where I trap they ain't a worry. Thank you for watching
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
@NorthernTrapper I appreciate you watching too
Great video Dale, I like those split rings as well use them on a lot of my coyote sets. Keep up the good work!
Yes sir Brian. They're quick, easy, and they hold. Thank you for watching

You're absolutely right on both counts Max. Thank you for watching
@martinan6294 ok I will
What is your thoughts on quick links vs. split rings?
I don't trust quick links Mike. I know some guys swear by em, but I just don't trust em

I've got places here like that too Otter Cat. Solid bed rock. That's what drags were invented for
I’m gonna be using the High Desert Spears this year. Made by Kendall. I did distort some of my Wolf fangs wasn’t to impressed with them.

Do you ever use cable on your drags great video very useful information
I don't use cable on drags Jason. I like the weight of the chain to keep the drag on the ground. Thank you for watching
