The chest containing the Heartshatter Spike Thrower has been moved into the tree puzzle. From where it’s shown in this video, go northeast, up the ramp, jump across to the grapple point ahead and onto the platform. From there, turn left, go across the bridge and the chest is just to the left, before the next bridge.
Honestly the only reason I clicked on this video was because I kind of want to play more of this game but I'm feeling kind of lazy, so I picked some random video in hopes that it would make me want to play. Turned out it was a really good video with great tips. Subscribed.
Your forbidden west videos are helping me so much. Zero dawn was pretty straight forward but Forbidden West is pretty overwhelming when you start. Your videos are so well explained!
I feel like you’re my personal Sherpa of HFW. Your videos are concise, simple and you justify all decisions with well-researched points. The editing in this video is great, especially zooming in/highlighting icons and using gameplay to highlight your point. I’m stuck now at like 6% completion at level 23 or so, and I think following these steps will help me get out of a rut I can’t seem to break. As always; great editing, not too long and easy to reference during gameplay. Great job, these videos keep getting better! Thanks again!
Im a veteran horizon player on PS version, now after 2 years im starting on PC again and i still think your vids are amazingly helpful, ive been binging on them for the past several days, thanks for the amazing contents
One question. Should I remove the coils and weaves before selling the lower level gears to the merchants? If I sell a weapon with the coil still on it, do I lose it completely? Or should I sell them separately to get more chards?
@Tom905 Good question! Coils and weaves are automatically removed when you sell a weapon or outfit, so you don't need to remove them first. They'll just go back to your inventory.
The best option for Shock in the mid game is actually the Canister Ropecaster. It has massive Elemental buildup at between 400 and 500 when fully upgraded. Yes, you have the extra step of having to hit the canister w an elemental weapon, but it's still by far the highest Elemental buildup for any weapon at that point in the game & is a far better option than others. Hell, it also comes with Frost and Fire Canister ammo too so it's also great for those elements.
Yeah the canister ropecaster is pretty cool. I actually find it’s easier to use it to set canisters on the ground like traps instead for attaching them to machines where they swing all over the place. But it’s a cool weapon however you want to use it.
@@ArktixOfficial I saw you do that in the video and I thought that was pretty awesome actually! I never even thought to try that, what a cool use for that weapon I must say.
Thanks! Yeah I've been experimenting with that some more. I'm not much a trap player, but I think I'm going to do end-game builds for each playstyle and I'm thinking a canister ropecaster would be a cool weapon to have in your loadout. You can basically use it to put down "traps" super fast.
Pretty late to the party, but if you want a cheaper alternative to the "Tear Precision Arrows", the "Advanced Hunter Arrows" on the Slicing Hunter Bow has 130 tear on full upgrade
When using the Ropecaster you're far better off going in for a Critical Strike than trying to pepper it w arrows. Or at least start out w a Crit strike since you get a free one in right away. There's no real reason not to unless you're just trying to take the machine out of the fight for a while.
Worth mentioning that Warrior Bows have full power even without a full draw, so you can essentially just rapid fire them to build up an Elemental status quickly, not to mention using the weapon abilities that shoot 3 and 5 arrows at a time respectively. Makes the Acid Warrior Bow a decent choice early on, even if it's not ideal compared to a Hunter Bow.
Bruh this is GOLDEN info 🔥 thanks for the help, ever since the embassy mission I've felt the annoying sense that i was using the wrong weapons and outfits and i didn't know where to get them, now i do lol thanks 👍🏽
The suggestions here are actually quite good, although you didn't mention THE most important aspect of using Bows for Elemental damage vs other weapons, and that's Triple Notch. That allows you to do triple the Elemental buildup per shot which is just huge, specially in the Mid game.
Ah yes, good point. I figured people would know they can use triple shot an any hunter bow, but maybe I should have mentioned that. Thanks for mentioning it here.
Triple notch may be the most important but I also agree it’s one of the most obvious. These guides are great at shedding light on strategies that just aren’t covered in game or so easily discernible just by playing
@@dillonwilliams4416 Lol well when you're already covering pretty basic info that is something rather important to not leave out. Amateurs aren't going to automatically know how effective triple notch is for inflicting elemental statuses.
I'm a sharpshotter most of the time. The warrior bows just don't do enough damage for me. I do love the spikes and prefer the Globlast and Skykller. And I recently got the Skykiller, and it does pretty decent damage. I had several bomb rigs, and most of them didn't really impress me..but I also recently got Wings of the Ten up to level three. That has explosion bombs.. And they are great against big Apex creatures. I need to upgrade my pouch for it, but I hit one of the Apex Slaughterspine and with just 8 explosion bombs I practically cut its health in half before I even had to break a sweat. That's pretty devastating.
This is a really good guide i didn't know about you when i was in mid game but my father is replaying the game i i gave him this guide he said it was great! Thank you so much!!!
Sharpshot Bows are SO essential in this game compared to the 1st! With Braced & Focused Shot they have become absolutely OP. Braced Shot does HUGE damage, specially when used in combination with Stealth Ranged+ Buffs and Valor Surge damage bonuses. W the Stealth Stalker Valor Surge you can do INSANE damage with your initial Braced Shot on a foe, killing even some of the tougher machines in a single shot if you can hit a weak spot with it.
Totally. And good point about combining Stealth Stalker with Braced Shot. I’ve been favoring Ranged Master lately, but I should play with Stealth Stalker some more.
@@ArktixOfficial For the initial shot before you get noticed, Stealth Stalker does a LOT more damage than Ranged Master. Ranged Master is more for active combat when all of the enemies are actively fighting you and you're constantly using Ranged weapons. Stealth Stalker is more for picking off foes from afar before they've noticed you, or for stealthing your way thru camps of humans or small machines. Fully upgraded you get a 200% damage boost which is just insane. You can also keep the enemy from seeing you if you use a smoke bomb right after the Braced Shot, and then can use it again before the Valor Surge runs out. Power Shots also gives a gigantic boost to damage comparable to Stealth Stalker, so that's also an option, and it has that added benefit of not using any ammo AND refills your ammo. It's crazy how good it is, and for the slower more powerful weapons you'll only end up getting so many shots in before it runs out anyway, and Power Shots doesn't run out at all til you've used up the allotted shots. All 3 of those power surges have their uses and are probably the best 3 in the game, with Crit Boost being an honorable mention. It's also a fantastic one for both Warrior Bows and Boltblasters, since they fire so many shots so fast. Crit Boost is basically required for an OP build for either of those weapons, as is Freezing the foe first. Any OP demonstration vid you see of those weapons will have them Freezing the foe first to maximize the random rapid fire nature of those bows. They are meant to pretty much be fired from the hip for maximum DPS (Damage Per Second), no precise aiming required.
Yeah like I mentioned in some of my other comments back to you, I've progressed from Crit Boost and I agree Ranged Master, Powershots, and Stealth Stalker are the best Valor Surges. I should play with Stealth Stalker some more though to see if I like it better than Ranged Master or Powershots. I can't say I've been using it for my opening shot much, but you're totally right that it gives you a massive damage boost.
@@ArktixOfficial Oh yes it is actually the most potent of all the Valor Surges when it comes to sheer damage boost, not to mention being far harder to see. If you're fighting anything that can be killed in a single hit then it is THE Valor Surge to use as it's perfect for picking off both Humans in camps and unaware machines, and at max each time you do you get a big chunk of Valor restored, prolonging it's use. Thus as long as that massive boost is able to let you kill a foe in a single hit aka remaining undetected then it's most definitely the best Valor Surge to use in those cases. However if you're in a longer more drawn out battle with a single big powerful machine, then Ranged Master is better in that case. Aka one where the enemy is likely to always be aware of you. At the same time tho if you have cover available to you, the invisibility of Stealth Stalker means you can play hit & duck tactics w a big machine to take it out from a distance while it's still not fully aware of your location. You can use a smoke bomb to lower it's aggro status quickly if needed. The 200% bonus still happens just as long as you have a ? Mark for the alert status and not an Exclamation Point. In fact I thought I heard someone say that it even counts for the more Amber colored exclamation point but just not the full Red kind. There is a difference. Yellowish ! means they know something is firing at them but they haven't locked on to it yet while red ! Means they are fully locked on to you. ? Mark merely means they are suspicious of something in the area.
Yeah I think I prefer Ranged Master because I don’t play quite as stealthy as you. I think I’m just not patient enough to do the hit & duck tactics you mentioned lol
thank you for this! i just started the broken sky quest (havent done the other two) and have the nora sentinel completely upgraded and just got the cleaving sharpshot bow. i resource hoard but i also run out of them quickly and i like guides like this so that im not upgrading weapons that wont have a use for me later.
Hey really nice content. Very clear and you explain things simply. Subbed…. I actually like the warrior bows because of the one weapon technique called “melee’ detonator” where you can shoot elemental arrows that stick, and then when you have like 4 or 5 stuck to a machine, then hit it with any melee attack and you get a really cool explosion….. also what do you think of beserker and plasma arrow….. the beserkers seem to only last like 5 seconds, and I’m not sure about plasma yet
Thank you! And yeah melee detonator is cool. I just find myself taking a lot of damage when I have to get close to machines to use them or do melee damage, so I guess I hesitant to recommend them because it can be frustrating if you aren’t good at melee combat (which I don’t think most people are). Berserker is basically corruption from Zero Dawn, and just like in ZD I don’t think it’s all that great. I don’t really use it. Plasma is interesting, but the explosions are kinda weak. I think they should buff it a bit and then it could be a great ammo type.
Yeah.. the new semi-types, berserk and adhesive, are not useful. Berserk enemies will most often come after YOU, no matter how far you are. And adhesive only slows uncertain movements (that is, actions that arent scripted, unlike, say, leaping attacks). Not super useful.
Oh yes, the skill buffs of armor are most definitely the most important factor when buying armor, and I fully agree that the Nora Sentinel armor is probably the best Blue armor in the game. It's amazing that you can get it so early too and it remains useful til late in the game in fact. Not til you start getting the very best Purple and Orange armors do you find something worth replacing it with.
Yeah it’s awesome you can get it so early, even just so you can see the upgrade resources and starting planning to get them. I agree you can really use the Nora Sentinel well into the late game and be totally fine.
@@ArktixOfficial Indeed. It has been my armor of choice when sniping machine & human alike due to it's stealth ranged buff, and for keeping up the pressure w it's Concentration & Weapon Stamina buffs. It's ranged & fire defense is also very good which is perfect for those scenarios. I'm almost at the point where I can upgrade but it has served me well thru most of the game.
The sucky thing about the Sun Touched Hunter Bow is the Crit up buff it has is glitched - This bow can literally NEVER crit even with crit up coils stacked onto it. It's one of many weapons that are glitched in fact. Hope Guerilla fixes this soon.
@@ArktixOfficial Do we know if this was ever fixed? I sure hope so after all this time, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't. I wonder if any of the glitched weapons were ever fixed. Do you happen to know?
Awesome video it was really helpful am in the mid game and really struggling because am unsure of what items to get because I don’t wanna waste resources on blue items when I see some purple items in the shops. Btw any outfits you recommend for mid game?
Thanks! Yes, I definitely understand not wanting to waste resources. Did you catch my outfit recommendations in the video? My top pick is the Nora Sentinel.
Love the approach you take on your videos. Yes there are more effective ways min-maxing but yours has a balance of damage and practicality! Well earned sub!
The Sun touched bow is by far the best rare hunter bow. Fully upgrade it and throw on crit chance mods. I was using it really late game to farm Apex machines to upgrade the legendary bows.
Totally! Yeah it’s a great bow. Totally sucks that it’s bugged for some people so that it won’t hit crits. Hopefully they fix that in a patch soon (maybe even tomorrow if we’re lucky).
what's consider mid-game for this series? I plan on playing the main mission all the way to the mission "seeds of the past" so I can get the final special gear before stopping to explore the rest of the world. As I despise exploring a world only to be told "you can't explore here yet". Can I be satisfied with the early game weapons until this point? or should get the mid-game items?
It can be very overwhelming at times trying to figure which gear or weapons I should get from vendors, I'm looking forward to watching the end game video when I get to that stage
This video has been my project the last three days. I now have fully upgraded Nora Sentinel and Sun touched hunter bow. I've also acquired the other two outfits suggested. What actually set me out on this upgrade journey to begin with was the fact that I opened the arena, jumped in on the first challenge against the seven machines and got my ass handed to me. Despite my best efforts it took nearly six minutes to kill them all. I now find myself in the weird position of also having the purple Tenahkt Marshall outfit but when I compare the stats between this and the carja Shadow outfit I'm not sure if the Tenakht Marshall outfit is much better if at all?! Am I missing something here? I haven't upgraded it at all yet so I am having trouble comparing the final stats. That could be what's tripping me up here. Any thoughts?
Cool! I hope this gear guide series has been helpful 😄 Outfit choice is pretty dependent on your playstyle. The Tenakth Marshall isn’t particularly good and not worth spending a lot of time upgrading in my opinion, but if the perks fit your playstyle well then you could use it. I’d use the Sentinel myself. If you’re looking for something similar and want an upgrade, then I’d move on to the Nora Valiant. Hope this helps!
@@ArktixOfficial this guide series has been invaluable actually. I really like the Nora Sentinel outfit. Good to hear your thoughts on the Tenakth outfit as this was my hunch. It's purple but the heavy weapon perk seems situational at best. The sentinel outfit is very balanced.
what does purgewater really do. stops elemental attacks but how i found it weird that aren't good options for plasma arrows the spike thrower with the drill is really under rated and you add a over time damage to it .. pretty cool stuff
Yeah I think they wanted to save plasma for later in the game. I’m actually ok with that since it’s a more advanced element and it’s not really necessary until later, but the lack of some sort of shock hunter bow until the Lightning HB is crazy to me. Even a green shock hunter bow would make a big difference. At least you’d be able to trigger canisters with it. I’ll have to play with the drill spikes more. I have to admit, I don’t use spike throwers much because I don’t like how expensive the ammo is, but I should test them out more thoroughly. As for purgewater, it’s not obvious, but it’s actually pretty useful because once a machine is “drenched” it’s easier to build up other elemental statuses. Specifically, you can build up freeze and shock more easily. So if a machine is normally resistant to freeze, you can first “drench” them and then you’ll be able to freeze them much more easily. Try it out, it’s actually pretty useful! I was thinking I might do a video explaining purgewater and plasma. I think a lot of people aren’t quite realizing how to use them to their full extent.
@@ArktixOfficial i had to make due with the shock bow gotten from the hunting grounds. It was hard getting close to machines to proc the cans. Especially the clumberjaws. Damn monkeys with their area attack lol The plasma is easy. You get the bar full with plasma then you shoot as much as you can to fill up the bar next to the plasma state indicator. When that fills the explotion is bigger. But no by a lot though. Vs a fireclaw the regular explotion is 200 damage. With yhe bar full is 600 that is like tickling him 😂. That's an apex variant of it so.. There could be some discrepancy there As per purge water. I try to tested agains the Tideripper. He has those sacs. But once he's drenched. It takes the same amount of time to get him shock again or froze. Maybe I'm doing something wrong The drill spike aren't that expensive in my opinion. The materials are easy to get comparing to the explotion spike. Which use that volatiale vulge. I see that you got into the shredder. See told you is fun 😆😅
Yup! I’m liking the shredders more and more as I use them. Kinda tough to make sure you catch it 3 times though. And yeah I suppose you’re right, still spikes aren’t terribly expensive. I’ll play with those more. And yeah I’m not sure plasma is worth the trouble on the tankiest machines, but it’s definitely helpful on some. I’ve found it works well for slitherfangs. And yeah like I said in the video, I pretty much stuck with the green shock warrior bow until I got the lightning hunter bow. The combo with the ropecaster helped, but it wasn’t ideal. As for purgewater on the tideripper, that’s one of the machines that’s resistant to purgewater, so I don’t think it will help there. Same thing with slitherfangs, they’re resistant to purgewater too.
@@ArktixOfficiali think the game missed a big opportunity by not having ice, plasma or fire shredders. That would be so fun Well, oohh yeah plasma help with little ones or medium Probably the bows will get a rebalance or some changes, there are a lot of the same. The lighting bow is the perfect example. It has two kind of arrows that does the same, which i don't get that logic, the advance arrows are really expensive too way more than spikes. Then there is only one bow with purge water arrows. It has acid arrows too lol Then there is a variety of arrows that is only explain in the ammo section of the workbench after you unlock the skill to craft ammo 😅 Did you know the sharpshot bow has armor piercing arrows, it's call something completely different. The Tideripper has the sacs of purge water, my thinking was drenched and try to build the shock state faster, but no.
Yeah all the different combinations of ammo on the bows definitely gets pretty confusing. It would be nice if you could disable individual ammo types on a bow so you don’t have redundant ones. And yes, more elemental shredders would be really cool. I bet they’ll add them in the future.
Another great video! I would agree that the Sun-Touched Hunter Bow is the best blue rarity Hunter Bow but it's bugged for me & some others. Impossible to get crits with it, so I stuck with the Slicing Hunter Bow instead. Edit: When you said you did an exhaustive evaluation, you really meant it! I'm starting my second playthrough now & I made a list of all the weapons I plan on purchasing & upgrading after doing research comparing all of them. I ended up with a bunch of weapons that I didn't like in my first playthrough, wasted shards & all that. But anyway, all your recommendations are what I have on my list as well. Your channel has the best & most accurate tips & tricks of FW on RUclips, hands down. I hope your channel grows quickly. Btw I agree that the Cleaving Sharpshot is the best midgame Sharpshot Bow, but I think a good second choice is the Piercing Sharpshot at The Hive Rebel Camp near Scalding Spear. It's in a chest in the camp. The Piercing Arrows can headshot through helmets, helpful for clearing out the abundance of camps & outposts that become available past the Base if you like stealth. One last thing lol - I totally agree it's crazy that there's no midgame Hunter Bow with shock arrows.
Wow thank you! And I didn’t know the Sun-Touched Hunter Bow was bugged for some people. That’s unfortunate. Hopefully they fix that soon, but thanks for letting me know. And thanks for the tip about the Piercing SS Bow as well! I was saving that one for my mid-game upgrades video :) (not so much an upgrade as a useful second SS bow to have on hand). But I totally agree, that’s a very useful bow to pick up. Worth doing that rebel camp even if you don’t like doing rebel camps in general.
Bit late to the video but I wanted to say that this video and the existence of the other three is what I think separates this channel from the others. Man actually gives reasonable load outs for all stages of the game and didn't go straight for the ridiculously powered endgame builds. You didn't blast through the game to get the legendaries. I appreciate this as I'm just getting into the mid and have overridden the two available tallnecks. I realise it's not worth relying on my no man's land setup anymore and need to upgrade to stand a chance. These vids highlight the fact that there are a lot of redundant weapons unlike zero dawn where you could just go from green to blue to purple and it didn't get more complex than that except for the dlc and Lodge weapons being that little bit better.
@Stephen Mc Shane Thank you! I'm glad you're finding this series helpful! It's definitely my goal on this channel to provide useful content! There's so many Horizon videos out there showing super OP builds and stuff that just isn't really useful. I'm happy to here you're finding my channel to be a good resource!
Nice content and clear explanation and enjoyable videos. I have just recently started Forbidden West and have been enjoying it so far. I came across your channel today and definetly earned my subscribtion ! Good job and keep it up.. I will follow this game once I am done with God of War soon..and i know what channel I will be checking for tips and guides.
This may be my first ever RUclips comment, but thank you for a mid-game tactics video. Also, I am only like 45 seconds in, so I may be replying to this comment with others. Sorry I may be 3 months late with this. I main Destiny and Ghost of Tsushima mostly. But really liking this game and think if someone ever blends all three of these, people would lose their minds.
Two minutes in and I will say I have a few Very Rare Outfits at the moment. I think the way I am doing my first ever playthrough, I did not spend much time dealing with blues (Rare?). And this gets to the heart of the question that brought me here -- is it better to have good Resistances or better to have more skills? And I ask this because since this is my first playthrough, I don't know that I have chosen a playstyle yet. And also, I need to find a way to get better at melee because it looks like I have some good things to do with my spear, but I'll be damned if I can do them consistently.
Great question! So I would prioritize the outfit perks over the resistances. The melee and impact damage resistances are the most important and those are roughly the same for outfits of the same rarity. Elemental resistances do matter in certain scenarios. For example, plasma resistance really helps with Slaughterspines. But overall, the perks are much more important and useful. Same would be true for the unique weaves outfits have. Don’t forget you can move those around to different outfits! As for melee, unless you really Ike that play style, I wouldn’t prioritize learning all the combos and trying to get really good at it. Melee isn’t great in Horizon (at least not for now). That being said, knowing how to do the Block Breaker combo and simple charged/power attacks with the spear is useful. Hope this helps!
One question. I'm really used to tearing components with the legendary hunter bow and Echo Shells are not so easy to come by for Tear Arrows on the Sharpshot Bow. Is there a mid-game Hunter Bow that you'd recommend for tearing components or do you think that only works for late-game Hunter Bows? Trying a fresh game on UH so even though I know the game well, these early tips are really helpful!!
Nice! UH from scratch is the ultimate challenge for sure. The Sun-Touched is my favorite blue hunter bow. It has pretty decent tear. It's definitely harder to tear off components in the mid-game though. Takes a lot more arrows.
Just found your channel! I really appreciate your videos! I've been trying to find videos on the weapons. I found a website that has good details on the outfits, but the weapons are a pain to come by. Some of the other channels have said to not worry about buying the low level gear, or upgrading them, but I do wish I came across your channel beforehand. Although, I still have plenty of money and resources.
Welcome! Glad you found my channel 😄 Yes, it can be kind of overwhelming to figure out all the outfits and weapons. I hope you’re finding my content helpful!
Very helpful. I find myself somewhere between disinterested, overwhelmed, frustrated and bored by the many upgrade paths in the forbidden west. I'll be glad to pick out one of your combinations so I can focus on the game instead of the parts I don't enjoy. I'm trying to learn the shredder well since it at least has a very unique play style and a bit of "dancing with the enemy". overall I can't say any of it is as enjoyable as was Zero dawn but maybe it's just because I was able to play that on a PC with mouse and keyboard, instead of a controller.
Glad you found this helpful! The number of options can certainly be a bit overwhelming. Not sure if you’ve seen my shredder master class video, but if not you should check it out to learn more about the Shredder Gauntlets!
Your issue with boltcasters is odd. I have not found their ammo to be hard to make and there are so many in a clip. They are also exceptional at hitting canisters. For a free mid-game boltcaster.. just get the base unlocked and start the SEA OF SANDS quest.. check under the tower for a free lightning boltcaster.. then just go elsewhere and do the quest later...
Did I mention I didn’t like Boltblasters in this vid? I honestly don’t remember. This was pretty early on for me. If I didn’t like Boltblasters at the time, I’ve definitely moved past that. I use them all the time now!
@@ArktixOfficial yeah.. you arent the only one. I noticed most people hate the new weapons until tbey try them for a bit. Glad you saw they are awesome :)
Hey I know it's late but A question should you keep going with the nora sentinel or is the tenakth vindicator or tenakth skirmisher outfits better? You know the one you buy at scalding spear. They are purple as well but are they worth it? Or the Nora sentinel is the best option?
It really sucks that the weapon & ammo types aren't better balanced in this game... So many ammo types are hardly useful at all, like Fire & Adhesive, specially compared to some of the better ones. I half expected this to be addressed over time via Updates, but it sounds like it never was. They should have made Fire do more tick damage, and enhanced the effect of Adhesive. That or at least make them easier to inflict compared to other elements.
Another great video, really helpful and clear! Love the Carja Shadow armor, but I might give Nora Sentinel a try. Also, I got the Cleaving Sharpshoot bow, but did not use it much for some reason, need to reequip that one 🙄
Thanks Tanja! Glad you found this helpful. Don't forget we have tranmog now, so you can wear the look of the Carja Shadow but apply the stats of the Sentinel if you want!
@@ArktixOfficial thank you so much. I already managed to find a site. Btw how are you able to reply so fast to all the comments on a two year old video dude...😂😂
Another great video and really enjoying your channel. Looking forward to the weapon upgrade video. When can we expect that one (yes, I'm impatient :) )
Hi. So, you recommend fully upgrading these? Sun Touched, Frost Warrior, and Purgewater? I was having so much fun till right around this point and started to get confused about what to buy and upgrade. I've seen ppl recommend the Slicing Hunter Bow, but I'm gonna trust you.
Good question! So I believe people are recommending the Slicing Hunter Bow because, apparently, the Sun-Touched is bugged for some people (it won’t hit crits for some reason). If that’s the case for you, then I wouldn’t bother upgrading that one. Just use it at its base stats until you can upgrade to something like the purple Seeker Hunter Bow. But if the Sun-Touched isn’t bugged for you, then I think it’s worth upgrading as much as you can without going out of your way to get resources. I assume you meant the Shock Warrior Bow? If so, wouldn’t put much effort into upgrading that one. You’ll want to move onto the Lightning Hunter Bow ASAP (more on that in my next video in a few days). The purgwater bow is worth upgrading I think. I found myself hanging onto it for a while. In general, the number of upgrades you do sort of all depends on how much you like playing side content. If you really don’t like going out to find resources for upgrades, then you probably shouldn’t go out of your way to upgrade weapons all the way until you have purple/gold ones. Personally, I do play a lot of side content, so I find myself getting the upgrade resources naturally. However, I think it’s pretty much always worth doing the level 1 upgrade since it’s always just shards and some common resources. Hopefully that’s helpful. Let me know if I can clarify!
@@ArktixOfficial well, I'm trying to upgrade the Sun Touched bow, and created a job to do so. But it needs Bellowback parts, and the only place where it says there's Bellowbacks right now, has hunters fighting Fanghorns, or nothing at all. Tried going away, changing time of day, restarting... Looked online and I'm not the only one this has happened to. I'll keep trying, but might not be able to upgrade it past 2 till I find Bellowbacks further West. Thanks for all your help and your response.
Also, no, I meant Frost Hunter. Sorry. I went south of where the Bellowbacks are supposed to be and ended up fighting a Rockbreaker outside a cave. That Frost Bow saved my life at level 2.
Ah ok. Yeah the frost hunter is worth upgrading at least part way in my opinion. You’ll want to upgrade to the Seeker Hunter to get better frost arrows eventually, but you’ll have the Frost Hunter for a while.
Ah ok. Yes, I’ve had that issue as well. So have you tried fast traveling to a campfire far away (like The Daunt) and then fast traveling back to that area? Fast traveling back and forth over long distances forces the game to reload all machines and NPCs. That’s how I’ve gotten the Bellowbacks to spawn. Let me know if that works for you.
You delivered as always. Will reference this on my next playthrough. a) how do you define "mid-game"? (E.g. The Broken Sky quest to Seeds of the Past) I never was clear and other vids I view don't spell that out. b) any thoughts on the weapons found during the Salvage missions? So many free weapons there...
Thanks Furious! I just wish I could make these faster so you could have used it on your first playthrough 😓 Hopefully you still find it useful. Good question about how I define “mid-game”. I guess I should be saying that in my videos. I agree with your definition. I feel the mid-game is roughly Broken Sky through Seeds of the Past and maybe a bit further. Of course, how much time you spend on the “mid-game” depends how much side content you want to do between main story quests. Personally, I spent a lot of time after Seeds of The Past going back to do side quests, rebel camps, etc. As for salvage contract weapons, I personally don’t like using spike throwers or bolt blasters much, but the Sunshot Hunter Bow is good. I’ll probably mention that one in my mid-game upgrades video. Of course, the Oseram Artificer armor is very good if you complete them all. More of a melee armor though. Do you have a salvage contract weapon you like?
@@ArktixOfficial i think I tried out one of the spikethrowers, but I never made an effort to test out the others...cuz then I'll feel obligated to run around upgrading them. I gave into RUclips peer pressure and got the Death-seeker bow after completing the Sea of Sand. It's not bad, but that's the bow I am willing to spend time and resources from side missions/rebel camps upgrading.
Oh yeah the Death Seeker is a great bow, definitely worth investing in it. I do agree it can get frustrating to need to run around finding the right upgrade resources though.
I think the middle of the game starts with the completion of the main quest "The Eye of the Earth". It includes the main mission "Seeds of the Past" and AFTER until the complete exploration of the West and the completion of most of the side missions and commissions. The middle part of the game ends with the main mission "Faro's Tomb", because I would classify the next "Gemini" as the end game, where only the hardest tests and side missions remain waiting to be solved, which may require the ability to fly, or Level 50 grants HP and skill points.
@Genzaah Good question! So what I’m doing there is aiming with L2 like you normally would, but then while I’m jumping I’m using concentration, which slows things down and zooms it in a bit more.
@Genzaah Oh gotcha. So that’s overdraw. It’s exactly like the DLC Banuk Bows in HZD. Many weapons in HFW have overdraw. Sometimes you have to upgrade them before the overdraw perk unlocks.
So correct me if I'm wrong here, but did Guerrilla changed the Sun Touched Bow into a purple variant? I remember using this bow A LOT even in the end game but always as a purple weapon.🤔
bro is there any severity threshold guide for machines? in zero dawn small machines would take 75 elemental damage, medium 150 and large 300 but here it looks different
Good question. That’s a bit tough to answer because it changes with difficulty level. We haven’t organized them super well, but here’s a spreadsheet one of my mods made a while back based on the values given in the official guidebook for normal difficulty. We determined the multiplication factor for different difficulty levels and calculated the others.
Someone should make a best-looking gear video, instead of just the best gear in the game. Considering you can apply of the look of any gear you want to what you are using, even some common or uncommon gear might be good to look at, thus keeping in your inventory.
Actually my friend Robo_Dino_Puppy made a gallery of EVERY outfit and dye combination in the game! You can check it out here: horizon-armor.tumblr.com/tagged/home-pinned
I'm at a point that even if a see a great looking thumbnail on a video about HFW, i first look at the channel and if it's not arktix i don't click on it.
Good question! *SPOILER ALERT* I should have defined that in this video series, but I would said the mid game starts around the time you reach the base. Lats game is around when you’ve retrieved all the subordinate functions.
I need some help guys. Echo shells.. I'm constantly running out of these. You can buy them but they're expensive! What's your best tip for finding these?
Ah ok so weapons don’t all have a green, blue, purple, and gold variant. It’s not like Zero DWn. If you want stronger frost bombs there’s a blue sling one called the Icefire and a purple called the Rampart.
please help me. I want to get this sun touched hunter bow but it is nowhere to be found in plainsong hunter shop. and right now there is no hunter shop in the scald place. What am I doing wrong?
The hunter merchant in Scalding Spear is up on a platform to the right when you enter from the East. Check the map while standing in Scalding Spear. Also, the Sun-Touched Hunter Bow is not in Plainsong, but at the Plainsong Hunting Ground. Hope that helps!
What are you confused about exactly? Yes, I recommended the Oseram Explorer as the first outfit to upgrade to. This is the mid-game video, so I have a different outfit recommendation.
Yeah I don't tend to use slings really. I don't really like explosive ammo (slings and spike throwers) since they'll destroy components. That's not to say they're bad though. Just not my style.
Which one? Frost or Sun-Touched? You might have to progress the main story a little further for certain weapons to unlock. I don’t remember whether or not that’s the case for those two.
I’m not in-game at the moment, but if I remember correctly it’s at the Plainsong Hunting Grounds, not Plainsong itself. You can also get it in Scalding Spear a bit later in the main storyline.
@@ArktixOfficial ok so u had to do like 6 main missions to get there to me that seems like a lot for other games and they are long so I though I was too deep into the story and tried just exploring to find these things my bad
Sorry, I started doing that in later videos, but I the description of this video and all my other videos you can find a link to a wiki that shows all gear locations.
Cool tips bro. Really help me a lot. Only thing hothe rme is that the tear percision arrow cost a lot of resources. I would only use it if needed. Else i would just tear ysing normal arrow. 😄
I dont know what the devs were thinking when they made this game but I have a question: Why does that b Aloy whisper EVERY time she speaks? wtf. Its like she is afraid of speaking like a normal person.
Interesting. I don't think most of the players I interact with would say melee is the strongest build. It's not the easiest to use in Forbidden West. Definitely a much heavier emphasis on ranged weapons.
Only reason i beat this games(run thru as fast as possibile) and get platinum is it come with my ps5. This title is boring af, but i understand kids who enjoy this
The chest containing the Heartshatter Spike Thrower has been moved into the tree puzzle. From where it’s shown in this video, go northeast, up the ramp, jump across to the grapple point ahead and onto the platform. From there, turn left, go across the bridge and the chest is just to the left, before the next bridge.
Thank you! Yes, it was moved relatively soon after I made this video actually. Been meaning to pin a comment about this. I will pin yours 👍
Honestly the only reason I clicked on this video was because I kind of want to play more of this game but I'm feeling kind of lazy, so I picked some random video in hopes that it would make me want to play. Turned out it was a really good video with great tips. Subscribed.
Haha thank you!
Saaaaaaaame exact reason I’m here. Subscribed as well.
Thank you!
Same
It’s pretty bad when we are too lazy to play video games so we just sit there and watch RUclips instead… I am also guilty
Your forbidden west videos are helping me so much. Zero dawn was pretty straight forward but Forbidden West is pretty overwhelming when you start. Your videos are so well explained!
@Marcel van see Land Thanks! I’m glad you’re finding these helpful. That’s definitely my goal!
Hey thanks! Glad your finding my videos helpful 😄 I hope your enjoying the game!
I learn more from you in 10 minutes than i learn playing 10 hours . Thanks for the help !
Hey thanks! I’m happy to hear you’re finding my videos helpful 😄
Bro I’m so grateful for every single one of these videos. Thank you so much you’ve helped me so much🙏
@Catofnbr You're very welcome! I'm glad you're finding my videos helpful!
Pretty late to the party, but if you want a cheaper alternative to the "Tear Precision Arrows", the "Advanced Hunter Arrows" on the Slicing Hunter Bow has 130 tear on full upgrade
How do you get the advanced hunter arrows..I only have the regular ones?
Awesome! Glad you found this helpful 😄 Thanks for your comment!
Believe it or not, I got this on release and I'm only playing it now!
Your videos have been amazing help
@Brian Egendorf Nice! Sounds like you've got a pretty powerful loadout!
This is a really good guide i didn't know about you when i was in mid game but my father is replaying the game i i gave him this guide he said it was great! Thank you so much!!!
Hey thanks! Glad to hear you and your father enjoyed this and found it helpful 😄
Yes! Been waiting for this one. Great video once again 👍
Thank you!
Yeah my only real grip with the Sentinel is I wish it has a little more shock resistance. But you can fix that a bit with weaves.
Thank you. I have run into the scarce resource issue with a few weapons so this is very helpful.
Glad you found this helpful!
The sucky thing about the Sun Touched Hunter Bow is the Crit up buff it has is glitched - This bow can literally NEVER crit even with crit up coils stacked onto it. It's one of many weapons that are glitched in fact. Hope Guerilla fixes this soon.
Yeah I hope they fix it soon too. It’s pretty annoying it’s glitched with the crit issue. But it will be really nice when it’s fixed!
@@ArktixOfficial Do we know if this was ever fixed? I sure hope so after all this time, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't. I wonder if any of the glitched weapons were ever fixed. Do you happen to know?
Have been enjoying your guides very much. Detailed and clear enough.
You have a new subscriber in me! Keep them coming and we'll keep watching.
Thank you and I appreciate your subscription! New gear video coming very soon!
Definitely a helpful video. I don't know what my slow is doing when it comes to upgrading things in this game lol.
I’m glad it was helpful! I have another gear video coming out very soon!
@@ArktixOfficial yes I did see that thanks I also gust got the Skirmisher outfit from the mission with the painter in scolding spear
Nice! Yeah that’s a good outfit!
This is the video I’ve been looking for 10/10.
Awesome! Glad you found this helpful 😁 Thanks!
This is right where I'm at in the game. This game isn't getting very much coverage cause of elden ring. So you got a sub.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
I actually tend to a sharpshot bow as much as possible. Especially after inflicting an elemental state on a machine like brittle...
Love the approach you take on your videos. Yes there are more effective ways min-maxing but yours has a balance of damage and practicality! Well earned sub!
Hey thanks! Glad you like the balance I go for 🙂 I appreciate your sub! 🙏
@@ArktixOfficial it’s not bugged for everyone? It was definitely bugged for me as I was getting 0 crits while having crit coils on it.
I don’t think so. It doesn’t seem like it’s bugged for me. It does seemed to be bugged for a lot of people though.
I got the sun-touched hunter bow today, oh my god is it good! Great video :D
Thanks! Yeah the sun-shot is a great bow!
what's consider mid-game for this series? I plan on playing the main mission all the way to the mission "seeds of the past" so I can get the final special gear before stopping to explore the rest of the world. As I despise exploring a world only to be told "you can't explore here yet". Can I be satisfied with the early game weapons until this point? or should get the mid-game items?
Just started playing 2 weeks ago and your vids are very helpful, earned a sub my friend
Awesome! Glad to hear my content has been helpful 😄 And thank you for your sub!
It can be very overwhelming at times trying to figure which gear or weapons I should get from vendors, I'm looking forward to watching the end game video when I get to that stage
@@ArktixOfficial no thank you
Yeah it’s a lot of information to sort through for sure! I hope the end game video helps!
Yup. My thoughts exactly! And that's great to hear! Glad this has been helpful 😄
Looking forward to your late game and endgame equipment videos as well
Great! They’re in the works!
for my 5th slot, for me is a spredere gauntlet, white i willl grind for the ancestors return gauntlet, and for my 6th a warrior bow
I've noticed the elemental explosions are pretty lackluster. I just collect the resources and try to hit other weak spots.
Exactly what i was looking for!! Thank you so much
Awesome! Glad you found this helpful 😄
You really put work into your video's I also have seen your forbidden west coil sheet, that helped me a lot. subscribed and thumbs up!😁
@Dusan Blagojevic Thank you! I'm glad the coil spreadsheet has helped you! And thank you for your sub! 🙏
Thanks for the well put together info, keep up the hard work
Thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful!
what does purgewater really do. stops elemental attacks but how
i found it weird that aren't good options for plasma arrows
the spike thrower with the drill is really under rated and you add a over time damage to it .. pretty cool stuff
Damn monkeys with their area attack lol
The plasma is easy. There could be some discrepancy there
As per purge water. I try to tested agains the Tideripper. He has those sacs. But once he's drenched. It takes the same amount of time to get him shock again or froze.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong
The drill spike aren't that expensive in my opinion. The materials are easy to get comparing to the explotion spike.
Which use that volatiale vulge.
I see that you got into the shredder. See told you is fun
😆😅
That would be so fun
Well, oohh yeah plasma help with little ones or medium
Probably the bows will get a rebalance or some changes, there are a lot of the same. The lighting bow is the perfect example. It has two kind of arrows that does the same, which i don't get that logic, the advance arrows are really expensive too way more than spikes.
Then there is only one bow with purge water arrows. It has acid arrows too lol
Then there is a variety of arrows that is only explain in the ammo section of the workbench after you unlock the skill to craft ammo 😅
Did you know the sharpshot bow has armor piercing arrows, it's call something completely different.
The outfit you get from that big guy with the head gear is Nice i think
Awesome video - thanks for the clear info
Thanks! And no problem!
People going for the heartshatter spike thrower are in for a nice surprise
Ah ok. Yeah that was definitely early on then. Boltblasters are great lol
Love your videos man 🎉 thank God I found you
Thanks! glad you're enjoying them 😁
Another great video, really helpful and clear! Love the Carja Shadow armor, but I might give Nora Sentinel a try. Also, I got the Cleaving Sharpshoot bow, but did not use it much for some reason, need to reequip that one 🙄
Thanks Tanja! Glad you found this helpful. Don't forget we have tranmog now, so you can wear the look of the Carja Shadow but apply the stats of the Sentinel if you want!
does anybody know how to get the tracker burrower circulator for the sun touched hunter bow???
Certain borrower sites have tracker borrowers. You may also be able to buy it from a salvage contractor.
@@ArktixOfficial thank you so much. I already managed to find a site. Btw how are you able to reply so fast to all the comments on a two year old video dude...😂😂
How did you get the "Critical Hit Damage" on the Sun-Touched Hunter Bow to 40% on the highest tier? My is only at 25%
Another great video and really enjoying your channel. Looking forward to the weapon upgrade video. When can we expect that one (yes, I'm impatient :) )
Thank you! I’m aiming to have mid-game weapon upgrades out later this week!
@@ArktixOfficial awesome
I think you should add canister ropecaster
Great Video!
Thank you!
Is the outfit from the vendor at Scalding spear not worth it?
Carja shadow the only suit I used throughout the game.. fully upgraded
Nice! I do like the look of that one. I use it as the applied look a lot with transmog now.
I can't find the spike thrower chest. How can I find it?
It's up on a platform now I believe.
Why when you are aiming with Bow, you have like « 2 différent aims », with the default aim and after you have another « zoom » with more accuracy ?
@Genzaah Good question! So what I’m doing there is aiming with L2 like you normally would, but then while I’m jumping I’m using concentration, which slows things down and zooms it in a bit more.
@@ArktixOfficial nooo not that, see 2:50 when you aim, it is like DLC Weapons in H Zero Dawn with the « power shot »
Or 3:12 it is a good exemple
@Genzaah Oh gotcha. So that’s overdraw. It’s exactly like the DLC Banuk Bows in HZD. Many weapons in HFW have overdraw. Sometimes you have to upgrade them before the overdraw perk unlocks.
@@ArktixOfficial OOH okayyy thank you !! You make really good videos by the way thanks 👍
Quick question how did u take the helmet off the carja shadow armor I luv the look jus with out the ugly helmet
Good question! There's a setting called "show headpiece" that you can turn on or off!
So correct me if I'm wrong here, but did Guerrilla changed the Sun Touched Bow into a purple variant? I remember using this bow A LOT even in the end game but always as a purple weapon.🤔
Ah so the SunSHOT is a purple Hunter Bow and the Sun-TOUCHED is blue. Similar names, so it definitely gets confusing.
Thank you!
Amazing video
Thank you! 😄
Cool video bro
Thank you!
bro is there any severity threshold guide for machines? in zero dawn small machines would take 75 elemental damage, medium 150 and large 300 but here it looks different
@@ArktixOfficial thank you so much.can you give me the spreadsheet?
Someone should make a best-looking gear video, instead of just the best gear in the game. Considering you can apply of the look of any gear you want to what you are using, even some common or uncommon gear might be good to look at, thus keeping in your inventory.
Actually my friend Robo_Dino_Puppy made a gallery of EVERY outfit and dye combination in the game! You can check it out here: horizon-armor.tumblr.com/tagged/home-pinned
I'm at a point that even if a see a great looking thumbnail on a video about HFW, i first look at the channel and if it's not arktix i don't click on it.
It is a shame that it costs so much to craft ammos for other weapons than bows
This will help me to stop selling and buying every new weapon lol
I have a question, when does mid game and late game start?
Good question! *SPOILER ALERT*
I should have defined that in this video series, but I would said the mid game starts around the time you reach the base. Lats game is around when you’ve retrieved all the subordinate functions.
I need some help guys. Echo shells.. I'm constantly running out of these.
You can buy them but they're expensive!
What's your best tip for finding these?
Long legs are a good way to farm them, but you’ll want to leave the chest sac in tact. Hope that helps!
@@ArktixOfficial cheers mate, I'll try that
Hope it helps!
Let’s Go !
Looking through this game I can't find a Frost blastsling bomb weapon in Purple or Gold
Ok. that was like drinking from a fire hydrant,,, LOL
Oh no! Sorry. Too much information in one video?
@@ArktixOfficial I'm good
I'm confused, you recommended the oseram explorer in your previous early outfit video?
What are you confused about exactly? Yes, I recommended the Oseram Explorer as the first outfit to upgrade to. This is the mid-game video, so I have a different outfit recommendation.
Hmmm so no slings make the cut?
Yeah I don't tend to use slings really. I don't really like explosive ammo (slings and spike throwers) since they'll destroy components. That's not to say they're bad though. Just not my style.
Can’t find the hunterbow in plainsong??
Which one? Frost or Sun-Touched? You might have to progress the main story a little further for certain weapons to unlock. I don’t remember whether or not that’s the case for those two.
i'm already in plainsong and i can't find the sun-touched hunter bow can somebody help me
I’m not in-game at the moment, but if I remember correctly it’s at the Plainsong Hunting Grounds, not Plainsong itself. You can also get it in Scalding Spear a bit later in the main storyline.
@@ArktixOfficial thank you
No problem!
cannot find sun touched hunter bow anywhere...
Check links in the video description
Where is plain song on the map? Never showed us
You’ll get to Plainsong early in the main story
@@ArktixOfficial ok so u had to do like 6 main missions to get there to me that seems like a lot for other games and they are long so I though I was too deep into the story and tried just exploring to find these things my bad
No worries! Yeah it’s a little ways into the main story. I probably should have showed the location.
@@ArktixOfficial I found it thank you for the video
what about melee weapons?
The spear is the only melee weapon in Horizon.
We don't do that here 😅
Why don't you say where to get things from?
Sorry, I started doing that in later videos, but I the description of this video and all my other videos you can find a link to a wiki that shows all gear locations.
Cool tips bro. Really help me a lot. Only thing hothe rme is that the tear percision arrow cost a lot of resources. I would only use it if needed. Else i would just tear ysing normal arrow. 😄
Great! Glad this helped 😄 And yes good point. It's hard to get echo shells in Forbidden West for this tear precision arrows!
Which video is the "mid-game recommended upgrades video" you referenced? Is it the Best LATE GAME Weapons and Outfits video?
It's this one! ruclips.net/video/ys6RwBlIU-Y/видео.html
@@ArktixOfficial sweet, thanks!
No problem!
Bro give me actual location in the map 😭
What item are you looking for?
I dont know what the devs were thinking when they made this game but I have a question: Why does that b Aloy whisper EVERY time she speaks? wtf. Its like she is afraid of speaking like a normal person.
Useful, but not for a melee build. Which most people call the strongest build...
Interesting. I don't think most of the players I interact with would say melee is the strongest build. It's not the easiest to use in Forbidden West. Definitely a much heavier emphasis on ranged weapons.
@@ArktixOfficial Oh really? Most guides tell you to level up the warrior class first, that's why i thought it was the best way to play..
Yeah it’s useful early on. I even recommend that to a certain extent in my skill guides. But you don’t want to focus on melee much past The Daunt.
@@ArktixOfficial I dont know man, when i put Everything on ranged i do no damage. While with melee i easily defeat them..., Level 18 now .
Hey if you like melee go for it! More power to you, it’s just not most people’s preferred playstyle.
Only reason i beat this games(run thru as fast as possibile) and get platinum is it come with my ps5.
This title is boring af, but i understand kids who enjoy this
Cool story bro. Who cares.
How in the hell do you get the sun torched hunter bow
You can get it at the Plainsong, Scalding Spear, and Thornmarsh hunter merchants.
@@ArktixOfficial no you cannot. I have been TRYING to find it
Must have been removed from plainsong. Other sites say scalding is the first location
