Really cool tool tip! I will have to look into this- I spend an inordinate amount of time measuring inside dimensions and have always used a carpenter's rule but this looks much easier!
It's worked out pretty well for me, just make sure that you validate the results on a few easy-to-measure inside parts so that you're confident with it.
get the glm 165 22 its red not green around $80 canadian. I got it as I have the glm 50c and it drives me nuts with the 1/32 . the 165 has a rounding function. Although the level works different. I found just like you this length measurement was fantastic if during renovations ina room full of stuff. Just point and push the button fantastic when working by yourself. I hate all the unboxing s time for people to show how they use it. I could use some videos on other functions. thanks
Ooh - I have to get one of these. I've struggled with getting accurate measurements inside things. I assume it knows how long it is and factors that it into its measurements? I see from your website we not only share a name, but we share a province as well. I'll have to sign up for a shop tour when you incorporate and bring in 100k people a year into your shop for paid visits!!
Hey, thanks for commenting! Always nice to run into a "local" (as local as Ontario can be, haha). I've always wondered how many people can fit in my one-car garage shop! For the laser measure, it does know how long it is and when held the right way (really just any logical way), it incorporates that into the measurement.
I’ve found it to be accurate to at least 1/16” (as advertised). I tested it a handful of times before ever relying on it for woodworking and the only thing I need to stay conscious of is making sure the base is properly perpendicular to the surface. On the metric side…it does not. I really wish that it was imperial and metric (and it should be since there are other setting toggles for things like sound). I’ve been pondering a full transition to metric sometime this year.
@@MasonWoodshop We'll be watching videos to see if you join us on the dark side. Ha. It's not for everyone, but it works for our needs. The 32mm system for cabinets is pretty awesome.
@@FridayWorkshop With 80%+ of my work be cabinetry, I think it just makes sense. Here in canada, a lot of our materials are actually in milimeters and as I gradual build out my long-term tool collection, I'm thinking about making sure they are the metric version.

That looks awesome Cole. Thanks for sharing this. Really cool.

Look at your channel grow! I used to use the same measurer for disaster cleanup. Not the same type of tolerances though.
I was lucky to have a video pop-off, which has been the primary driver of growth. That, and people seem to love watching videos about routers!

How do the target cards work?
I am wanting to measure the trim around a window.
How do you get the screen to stay lit while it’s on for us old guys
How accurate is that measuring tool? Have you compared to a tape measure?
Also does it do metric?

I think a tape measure is quicker honesty
But not as accurate.
Want precision? No math? Switch to metric. Milimeters rock.
Totally agree! I’ve switched most of my shop to metric.
