I will personally do a mix strength and magic. While it won't result in any min-maxed build, there will be new classes to try out and I don't want to lock myself into a specific archetype by focusing too hard on a single stat. Also the game seems to favor switching archetype to fit the different challenges. For example the Gyptaurus dungeon having enemies that enrage at the sight of mace and wand users (basically your primary magic users).
For sure! The "best" doesn't always = fun also. I'm certain by the true end, every stat will be max. This build is a shortcut if you find the game too challenging. I'm starting from scratch myself at launch, and considering an endurance/agility knight build for protag to do some control type stuff. That's the beauty is we will all have unique playthroughs.
To be fair a luck build could also work good with all the classes since it boosts item gain and crit rate. Which works with all classes, of course agi could also work since it boosts hit rate, evade and chance to escape from battle. But yeah pretty much all the games in this genre have favored you switching your class/demons/spirits to make yourself resistant to your enemies attacks while using their weaknesses against them over your stat build. Since often times you using hitting the enemies weakness would deal 2-4x more dmg while hitting their strength would see you deal 0-0.5x dmg. The games also usually include stat boosting items by end game so you can usually max all stats eventually.
I had been wondering what I should put with my stats for the demo. Thank you very much! Plus I love how to the point the video is. It not only told me how to not waste my mags on giving Strohl the mage class. It also told me what points to allocate where.
Welp tbh anything will work with stats, for me broken is Lick/agi/ sometimes strength build,l to crit all the way with warrior aoe. +Prepariatoon for Samurai/assassin archetype
Genuinely one of the best Builds for the Early game, However down the Line we will get Junah who'll be a Magic Focused dps and also in the Endgame Severe Physical Attacks just Overpowers everything, so great build/vid for early game Brother however in the late game Physical attacks will always be the best option, it was the same for Persona/smt and I don't think this game will be any different, anyways keep up the great work Brother
Yeah, i'm guessing there will be a trophy for maxing every archtype as well. Physical Synthesis is already pretty busted, but the mp cost is prohibitive, later on can gain turns with team skills and have enough mp to actually use them.
@@optimusgrime8265 Also this time around we're blessed with the mage who Infinitely regenerates mp therefore completely wiping out the expensive cost of Using all the mp heavy physical skills over and over again
I played the entire demo without using any of my points and it's worked out just fine. Now I have all my points waiting for me to make a decision at launch. Hopefully by then it may be a little clearer what will be the best build to go with. I did choose the "I've always been lucky" option for the initial question. Other than that, I'm starting with a bunch of points to distribute.
That's a very logical and viable strategy, putting all your eggs in one basket means they all break if you drop the basket, BUT carrying them one by one takes forever, there's always a trade off. Also I'm sure by the middle and end there will be plenty chances to grind quick for however many skill points you need. Either way, however you have fun is the most important, so do whatever that is! Metaphor is an awesome game.
I've been putting all my points into Luck and Agility. It seems to have helped as I was easily able to collect enough loot to buy the Tuxedo without power-leveling.
No lie, I also went caster for my main guy, and I’m happy with it. I love the inheritance system, because you can just inherit Dei from the Seeker and be set until you get Healer. I did the main dungeon in the demo on Healer and brought over the Bot spell and it was fantastic.
I've been dumping points into Magic in the Demo just like you! But knowing we will eventually be expected to switch up Archetypes throughout the game makes me think it might come back to bite us D:
Every basic archtype with a few exceptions has a magic advanced version like Magic Knight also by the end I would imagine you can max every stat. I think there are 3 more party members after Hulkenberg, so there shouldn't be any worries, but yeah fingers crossed just in case.
Nah it will probably be alright, the other party members are there to be better suited than you at the things you neglected for the main character. The worst possible thing you can do is probably stretch yourself too thin by trying to be a jack-of-all-trade, ending up worse than all other teammates at any dedicated build.
There will be 7 party members + Gallica, and we can see that they will all probably focus each one on a specific stat, as from the demo we can see that Stohl goes for St and Hulkenberg for En. Considering Hesmay will be the Thief, I guess he’ll be focusing on Ag, Eupha as the Summoner will focus on Lk. Thus means that Junah as the Masked Dancer will probably be the Ma focused party member, as one of the first things Gallica tells you is that music was the first kind of magic. Moreover, the weapon bonus of healing SP for the mage line is too good to pass on unless we get some sort of Victory Cry passive skill or armor effect (and that usually is the latest of the late game stuff) and considering it evolves into two elite forms (Elemental Master and Dark Mage(?)) it’s not really bad to have two mages in the party. Finally, we will probably be able to eventually farm incenses just like in SMT (or, even better, be able to respec) so you can always do that later if you want to minmax a physical build. What we should pay attention to, however, is what the cap for the stats are and how large the bonuses for the advanced archetypes and equipment pieces will be, as it’s possible that we shouldn’t put points into a stat after some point as the bonuses will complete them to reach the max (i.e. if the max is 99 and we can get +10 from equipment and +20 from the archetype, you shouldn’t level that stat past 69).
I'm really curious to see how things turn out. Personally going to be building my MC with a bit of a support focus with healing and buffing as well. Focusing on magic and endurance to keep myself from dying and keeping my team alive. Strohl and Hulkenberg can be my meatshields with whoever my forth will be for debuffing.
I think there are 3 more team members, the blonde girl looks magic, and the little bat guy seems agility, not sure about the final character they have been pretty coy about it, might be a fake party member who turns out evil like in persona 5. Just seemed like magic was the 'right' choice. Honestly any build will probably be fine.
Wish i didn't thoughtlessly pick strength at the recruitment centre , still gonna go for a healer/support role for MC. That's how i beat guptauros, just kept buffing hulkenberg's attack and having her use jump
Funny thing is I didn't know till after the demo that the answer you gave the captain decided your class... but funny enough agility seems like the best combo to go alongside my mage. As you said the other characters (at least early on) seem melee focused so I thought why not go mage... and I ended up at the same conclusion as you. Plus since the story mentions magic so much... why not upgrade that stat.
@@optimusgrime8265 Love the mage synthesis skills as well. Made Hulkenburg a healer and got her to rank 10 by spamming the aoes. Alongside the mp regain I felt like I could've gone on forever
Yeah bro you good, luck even gets the best bonus, it starts at 9 if i remember. Luck is also really good for item drops and critical hits, so putting points in is a good idea anyway.
There is no 1 ring to rule them all, agi end knight is also super busted, pull agro and take no hits, even if they do hit you with a ton of endurance it hits for like 5-15 damage lol. This is just if you need help getting strong easily
You don't have to. If you want strength and magic it will work. Some enemies resist physical so magic skills for sure help. As for whether magic will be blocked I haven't gotten that far but it's possible later areas may have magic resistant enemies.

Mage has the best overworld passive of the classes we know too. Unfortunately, strength is more based, so we unga bunga 💪💪💪
Yeah it’s the best overworld passive but idk if I can get past using the staff lol
@@BillyMadison-gn1zu What I've been doing is just switching to it in the overworld to cap off MP. If I get ambushed, that's a skill issue
Hmm, what I was doing anyway. Magic tends to be busted unless you're playing SMT protags. Healer is also very nice.
I personally chose the endurance path but foolishly snuck passed the dragon smh. Restarting the Demo and might still choose the endurance path or luck
