  • This video is about the EGO Self Propelled 56V 7.5 Ah Battery Performance!
I had no idea how much lawn I could mow with this mower. I was able to mow my entire lawn, nearly .5 acres, and still had battery remaining to mow more yard.
This is quite a performance out of this machine and huge credit needs to go to the battery technology and motor efficiency EGO has created.
Let me know if you have any questions.
    Thank you for watching.

I have last year’s version of this mower. Same battery voltage/size. I don’t think my battery light does that but now I have to check! I have about 12k sq ft of lawn and I can usually mow it all without stopping to charge. Though I usually take a break in between front and back yards anyway to trim/edge/get a drink. Only exception to that is if the grass is overgrown from a lot of rain or me being lazy. If I have to double cut some areas or even if they’re just really thick, sometimes I need to charge in between front and back yard. I use the self propel about 50% of the time. It’s great for getting you out of tight corners without having to be behind the mower. Also, wow, I really need to clean mine off. It is definitely not that color anymore 😂

Hi, great video. Forgive me if I missed it, but what king of grass are you mowing and what height was the mower set to. I have tall fescue really thick. Right now mowing at 4 1/4" with a super recycler. Im willing to give up mulching and a bit of cut quality for the convinience of battery, but I do mow high specially in the summer. Spring and fall I can go down to 2.5-3". I just don't want to have to do multiple passes because it won't suction the grass at 4 1/4". Thanks.

Which blade did you use? I heard the mulching blade uses more power.

Good video. At the 11:23 mark, you mention changing the film. What camera were you using?

Seriously considering this mower when I replace my 13 year old Honda. $350 for a replacement battery may be a deal killer though.

If you take into consideration how long these batteries last since I use this mower commercially. These batteries last a long time and have a three year warranty

Estimated to be good for 1000 charges. If you mow/charge once a week that's 19 years. But that being said, you'd think it would have a longer warranty on it.

I love this mower, I've been using it for some time. I was so eager to get this mower that I bought it in the middle of Winter! My only concern is Fall and battery life... In the Fall, it typically rains a lot where I live so their is no getting around it, you are forced to have to pick up or mulch wet leaves. My old gas mower could typically mulch up wet leaves. As great as this Ego is at cutting grass, I have two concerns:
#1. It will struggle to mulch wet leaves. I've been tinkering with a twin blade Honda mower that I bought used a few days ago fixing it up,. I plan on continuing to use my EGO mower, but as a back-up, I have a Honda Mower that I intentionally adjusted the RPM run faster just in case this EGO can't mulch wet leaves come this Fall.
#2. Battery life, we all know it since we use battery powered computers and phones. Over a period of time... Lithium-ion batteries loose charge. I'm concerned of having to spend another $350 on a new 7.5 AH battery in the next 2-3 years, or having to take breaks mowing to charge the battery. You have a large yard and I am sure that it won't cut the entire thing on one charge in 2 years.

Thank you for the comments. Right now I cannot comment on wet leaves. I know it mulches tall grass with little issue. The mower cannot be expected to do this impossible but I would say it mulches at least as good as a gasoline model. I had a dual blade honda a couple years ago and I would say the EGO is everything the Honda was from a mulching perspective. In the next few days I will have a video out on battery life. Not longevity in years but longevity in how much grass can be mowed at one time. If this batter works like a iPhone (which is may or may not) then after about 700 cycles you can expect about 10% less battery life per charge. Lithium battery technology considers 1 full charge 0 to 100% as a full cycle or two 50 to 100% charges a single cycle. I can tell you the battery will last about 60-75 minutes on a single charge depending on hills and it takes about an hour to recharge from completely empty. If you mow once a week for 52 weeks and you run it an hour each week then the batter should last 10-13 years. That's a lot of gasoline, spark plugs, filters and time to do all those things. Hope that helps!

I've completely drained a 7.5ah battery in thick grass with the select cut in 10 minutes something to think about.

Hmm...My only guesses can be either #1 it was somehow not fully charged (but I'm guessing that is not right as it is not tough to figure out) or #2 the thick grass made the battery overheat and it shut down to protect itself. This grass can often be wet and this can really bog down the power a mower can make. Remember to always cut at the highest setting if your grass has gotten away from you a bit. The grass cutting pros say to only cut about 1/4 to 1/3 of the blade at a time to protect against disease and allow for proper mulching and oxygen exchange in the soil.

I can believe this. My first cut with this same mower, my grass was unusually taller and still wet. I set the cut level to 2 and made 1 pass on my front lawn which is about two rows of your left side (adventuring today) and I lost 1 meter off the battery gauge. I raised the mower to level 3 and I was able to mow for 48 min using self propel. I mowed a 2nd time without using self propel and I managed 55 min on the battery. Both times I wasn’t able to finish my yard on one charge. So while I recharge the battery, I edge, weed eat and blow (using gas) then battery is charged enough I can finish my yard.

My 7.5 ah battery always last right around 65 minutes. And my 5 ah lasts around 50 minutes. My yard is roughly 10,000 sq ft and the grass is usually six inches high when I cut. I hardly use the SP because the mower is so super easy to push. Loving my EGO 2135SP. It outperforms the Lawnboy Silver Series mower that had a Duraforce 6.5 HP 2 stroke engine!! 👍🏻✌🏻
