Great example of a clean 58"! Love mine! One thing that I believe should be pointed out is that the combination of Adler and a maple neck produces a distinct sound, more of a bell sound when playing slow tempo leads, The slab boards produced a sound that was way different You have to own them both. The prior years were great and I own one as you knnow. However, it is great to own the progression of Fender Strat since the begiining.
I love the subtle nuances to the different years. To your point, the 1960 recently listed by this same seller (and played by the same player) sounds quite different. I love both, so hard to choose which I prefer. I have a mere Custom Shop reissue of the 1960 (an early time machine series circa 2007, so no flat radius and large frets) and it definitely has that flavor of the real 1960 here. I've recently played some much more expensive Custom Shop Strats (roasted neck, 9.5 radius, etc) and to be honest, they weren't that great. Made me appreciate mine even more. Now I need a good example of a maple neck late 50s version.
I own 3 vintage Strats: 54' that I have owned for 50 years, my God! Time flies. A 58' that I have had for 48 years and a 62' Slab that I have owned for 4 months! I purchased the 62' from John. Love the guitar, it is a really good one! Sometimes , you get lucky and get a great sounding one! In the mid 70's I bought a 57' Mary Kaye. It stunk! Gone in two months! Not all vintage guitars sound good. I owned two Gibson 60' Sunbursts in the 70"s.. One was fantastic, the other so so. I have a 97' Historic that is better than the so, so 60" I sold the so so a year after I bought it.. As to the Fender reissues: I have 3 of the Slabs. The best one is a 61 Custom Shop blonde ash body. The next up is a straight thin skin . The worst is a Wildwood Spec white 60 slab. All of the best! Dennis Last, and you have heard this before, the ones that weigh under 7.5 pounds have much better harmonics! @@joeschlicht
I have to say this. Maple necks vs. Rosewood fretboads: I think that the maple fretboard on a Strat, produces a great Bell Tone, that is different from a rosewood fretboard. A great example is Derek and the Domioes, Bell Bottom Blues.
Nah there's no way a professional like John would lie about his product. That would also tarnish his reputation if so. That 1958 Strat is in a rly great condition but I've seen 50s Les Paul Juniors and Telecasters that were close to being in mint condition
@@bushin28 I wouldn't call him a liar,in fact I didn't. I said I was skeptical. The hardware is what makes me skeptical. Looks new(ish) on a 1958 guitar.
Damn, that sounds so so good! Would love to hear the other pickups too.
Beautiful ! Thanks

@denAlexVA yes, my strat is under 7.5 lbs. Nice and resonant. You can feel it.
Sorry my friend, the hardware looks way too pristine for a 58. I'm very skeptical but that's my nature. Cheers
