Great fight...how it should be...and total respect shown by both...best british fight of that year...i remember listening to it on my little radio in bed as a kid
Great to watch this all these years later. No nonsense boxing/refereeing and commentating. Tony and Mark had a tremendous battle and showed respect to each other at the end. Also nice to see Mark and his wife so happy with their baby. Regards from Blighty :)
Sibson was a good fighter who was just a bit lacking at the top level. Mind you to fight hagler in Boston, haglers back yard, at haglers peak, took some real balls.
Yes, back in the day loved Wednesday night Sportsnight on BBC1, perfect timing, halfway to weekend . If it wasn’t David Coleman and athletics, then we’d be in for a boxing treat with good old Harry Carpenter
I'll second that Sir, Extremely knowledgeble about all aspects of boxing and presented extremely well without hysterics or bias!!!🤗 The total opposite of the Clowns 🤡 that are so called commentators/Broadcasters today and regularly make it sound as if they're watching a totally different contest to what your eyes are telling you!🤔🤨🧐especially if it involves a British fighter against foreign opposition!!!🙄😡🥊
I was watching that live at Wembley, took my girlfriend to see a musical then found out Sibson was fighting so ditched the theatre and went straight to Wembley ,my girlfriend was a bit pissed off
To be fair sibson lost to finnegan .. gold medalist in.olympics ... Andries, tate and hagler ... World champions.... and dangerous Don Lee (top fighter) ... eddie Smith (points) lotte male (light heavy) were the only lesser challenges ... he beat minter on stoppage ... mutti, John Collins (undefeated prreviously), actress sanda and kaylor. Sibson was world class in my opinion.
What a fighter this Kaylor was. Has become a bit of a unsung man.i personally think Sibson,Graham,Kaylor and Christie circa 1985 were as good as benn/eubank/watson/ collins....they just fought in that tougher pre wbo era
Cracking fight. Sibbo just had a bit too much for Kaylor Amazing to think that Sibson was still only 26 here. He'd been through a lot of wars by this point.
In those days even the top fighters often used to fight 6-8 times a year, which is why by their mid-20s, fighters like Sibson, Watt, Bugner, Minter etc etc had been in a huge number of fights.
Indeed, but in those days the money wasn't as good as it is now which meant that they had to have far more fights than similar calibre of boxers today. Look at Dillian Whyte.....hasn't fought for a world title but earns a couple of million per fight.
No doubt whatsoever that Herol Graham and Sibbo would have held at least one of the four versions of world title currently available. Different times though. Surprised the Graham v Kaylor fight isn't on RUclips. I'm sure I was at that fight, and I was definitely at the Kaylor v Christie fight.
I'm afraid I can't remember how the fight went, just that I think I was probably there as I used to go to most of the big fights in London at that time. Herol was at his peak then and was very much avoided by the top MWs including Hagler. I do remember Sibbo getting smashed to bits by Denis Andries though! Andries was the toughest boxer I ever saw.
Johnny he actually stunned the Marvelous one for an instant.Marvin said Sibo was physically strongest man he ever faced considering he fought the likes of Roldan & Mugabi that's quite a compliment
@@arthurwilliams8778 confirmed, Hagler remembers Sibbo as being one of the most physically intimidating next to Mugabi. But let’s not forget Mugabi was unreal at his peak and was actually more a natural light middleweight at that time. Sibbo was in very good company indeed.
Great fight ! Im gutted i didn't get to see the reshechuled fight . Sibson got injured so had to pull out. Loved both fighters but being West Ham wanted Kaylor to win 🥊🥊
The fighters then were better than Now (mostly due to the competition which surrounded them) And i firmly believe if British fighters, the likes of Turpin(who managed to defeat the best fighter of all time "Sugar Ray Robinson")Terry Downes(who won the World middleweight Title&fought for the Light Heavyweight title-lost), Minter, Finnegan(who was a really skillful boxer)Sibson and Kaylor were given more coaching at faints, avoiding&Slipping Punches then their careers would have shown more(W) and fewer (L)..That is the main difference..
@@petetyrrell5904 until hagler cut him to ribbons...and sibson destroyed him...but for hagler...sibson would have been a world champion...probably beating minter to win it
harry carpenter was a great pundit knew boxing through and through met him once lovely gentlemen ,kaylor and sibbo great fighters great guys too boxing is more hype nowadays although still a great sport it lacks class.
Kaylor was a good tough kid but only fought with one hand at a time and that was mainly his left if he could have thrown two fisted combinations he'd have gone a lot further
Agreed. But Mark was trained by Terry Lawless and nearly of of Lawless' boxers had the same style, eg Jim McDonnell, Frank Bruno, Charlie Magri etc. They were always very fit and did the basis well, but very limited in terms of lateral movement.
@@DavidUKesb I would go a bit further than that mate i would put it down to the British amateur style of training ala trombone playing left foot left hand forward keep on the outside iff you ever watch American youngsters box from the outset they use a more two fisted approach
Two fine boxers and two great blokes and sportsmen.🥊🥊👍
Loved Sportsnight on BBC1. Boxing, greyhounds, football mainly League Cup rounds. Take me back now.
Good honest hard working fighters. Huge respect to both warriors.

I watched Mark Kaylor v Tony Sibson I knew Mark back then good man 👍he lives in USA nowdays.
Great fight and great TV👏🏻
Brilliant fight. Both gave their all and the sportsmanship they both displayed after the fight was over was very nice to see.
Brilliant fight 2 very tough guys had the privilege to watch them both box great fighters.
Man what a fight , fforgot how good this was
This was excellent, a hard domestic fight with two quality pros. ✅
Sibson was a good fighter who was just a bit lacking at the top level. Mind you to fight hagler in Boston, haglers back yard, at haglers peak, took some real balls.
When sibson had his head right, he could beat anyone
Well said.
Also, he usually fought all the top British and European fighters in their own backwards as well, so total respect

If he was a middle weight today sibson would win a version of the world title
dont be a silly boy
Sibbo was a true war horse end of.....they both mop the floor with the current crop.
I'll second that 👍 100%
Sibson was one of the hardest men in britain ,he leveled 3 sparring partners in one go,forget skyes ,royshaws, this man woyld have done the lo
No fake Wannabe Gangsters. Proper hard men showing each other respect
Very under rated fighter was Mark Kaylor
No easy fights this generation..Great champions great fighters..Sibson may have been a champion at at different time..
I always liked mark kaylor ,. A good honest pro ,
Two great warriors
They seemed 50% tougher in those days.Real grafters
😂 Was Mark Kaylor ever in a dull contest? I've only ever seen him in barnstormers...
I liked the way there's no trash talk. Much better
My dad took me to this fight, there was as much fighting going on around the arena as there was in the ring and possibly more!
That's right. Kaylor had a West Ham support and Sibbo brought travellors from the Midlands. They didn't get on.
West Ham and Leicester
As a Hammer it's warming to hear the rendition of Bubbles ring out. I love those partisan nights ....electricity ..charged nights
Neither fighter was true world class but you have got to give them massive respect for putting on a real great fight for the fans.

Went to see this with my old mate John O'Brien. Fight night in and out of the ring that night. Bruno was on the same bill.
Enjoyable fight, liked Sibson's bruiser style on the inside with the left hand.

Luke Kage rip Christie didn’t realise he died shame all top people
Good refereeing, allowing both boxers to work at it when close.
Many thanks i enjoyed this 😊
They used to sing his name on the terraces down filbert Strett. Sibbo batters cockneys.💙💛💚🏴
Great blokes both
my favourite English fighter, liked Kaylor as well though

Sibbo boxed within himself here and proved his superiority. Good fight though.
