Have to say, though, Nordic Giants along with Julie Christmas came right out of left-field for me for band of the day (I don't know either) even after thoroughly enjoying Unearth... old-school metalcore FTW! Oh, and the DiS set is the one set that I regret not being able to do Damnation this year. It'll be insane. 1:19:20 Oh christ. Missed the 22 Jane Doe set because of far too many 2-pinters that day... :( For those who don't know, the BEC is on an industrial estate. Nowhere else to go. Shit can get out of hand really quickly!
Also, I cannot agree more about bands and promoting shows/festivals. I am in bands and also promote shows so I'm lucky (Or unlucky) to regularly have it from both sides. Some bands don't bother their holes to do any promotion or maybe in a two month lead up post once to announce, once after a month and once on the day on their instagram stories. I get the whole it's up to the promoter to promote thing but at the same time I'm far more likely to work with a band who help and put the effort in than I am with a band who didn't bother their arses to do a single bit of promotion. bands need to promote themselves and promoters promote shows. It should be obvious that they should go hand in hand to do the same thing which is promote a show or festival but you'd wonder sometimes if some bands even know they're playing themselves.
Im torn about bands overlapping. Im one of those people that have to see all of the set, guess it comes from wanting to listen to albums in full when they're released and not bother with the singles out of context of that body of work. Id like to imagine that bands curate a setlist in a certain way (well some do) to take you on a journey and dipping in and out just doesnt sit well with me. But then arguably longer sets allow them to do that in a different way and f the other act 😅🤣. Would you ever consider doing somethnng like prophecy fest have tried and having no headliners and giving bands all the time they need to perform whether its the first set of the day or the last. That way i imagine you're pleasing no one when you have multiple stages to contend with but would he fun to see how that would work...
