Great pod (again!). In Bloodstock's defence, from a punter's perspective, knowing a huge chunk of their line-up is going to make me immediately want to buy a ticket. The drip feed doesn't work as effectively for me for festivals I'm not immediately sold on, because it's a lot of money to sacrifice for a line-up that still has a ways to go. It also means when Christmas comes around and I've got a bit of money, I can afford to pay for it as well as see what exactly it is that i'm paying for. By the way, those two Sigh sets *made* Damnation for me last year, thank you so much for booking that. It's a shame it didn't sell as well as you needed to, but I hope it doesn't put you off dual sets in the future, Gav!
Excellent podcast, loved hearing about when you would and wouldn’t announce bands for your festival. Excited for the Trees announcement at the end of September 😛👀
Love the question about increasing capacity. Definitely a double edged sword. I've been to Bloodstock every year since 2015 bar one and you can absolutely sense how the vibe has changed with a 5000 capacity increase. I love Damnation for what it is and if you increased it to 10,000 or whatever, it wouldn't be the same!
I too am a huge fan of The Wildhearts and I agree with everything James has said, they are banger after banger What's wild is the way that their album tracks are as good as they are but they've got a vast wealth of B-Sides that are either just as good.. If not more out there compared to the album tracks, amazing band, I can't wait to hear what this new version of the band comes out with
I loved the drip feed announcement, it builds my excitement far far more than one big dump of bands. I also like on the day of announcement what Fortress have done where they do a band an hour, it makes the whole day exciting, refreshing the pages etc seeing what's next.
Great Podcast as always lads. I’d love one of you guys to book Crosses. Saw them in Bristol on Sunday and they were brilliant. Someone needs to get them back over to the UK. They’d make a great headliner for ArcTanGent.
Just for the record, I thought you to were like Any and Dec. You have to appear on screen the same way round. With the arrival of Mr Turner, it was nice to see you shake it up a bit. Thanks Bri!
So, the conversation is recorded on my comp as I (Gav) see it on screen which is two equal windows i.e. I don't have the option of looking directly into the screen as I would on speaker view. Which I'd prefer. So if Bri doesn't move me over to that side, it would appear like I was looking off screen, away from James which would be odd as fuck. With a guest, that's not an issue as I'm looking up and down at their screens. Thanks for noticing. Gav
@@2promoters1pod Gav, certainly not a criticism of you guys! love it all. But it did add to the comedy when you introduced James on your left, and he's on your right. Keep up the good work guys. Can't wait till you go again.....
The Wildhearts crucify Therapy (not using the question mark 'cos it turns my statement into conjecture) .... stunned that The Wildhearts are now introduced as a band that have been forgotten.
Can see it being a double edged sword with band announcements, as I go to all of your events blind pretty much its maybe less of a thing for me, and I do try to go to anything and everything as im lucky with disposable income for the most part. However even I am having to consider what I go to with the squeeze on that money and other responsible things I have to spend it on so when a first few bands are announced if its not to my taste it makes it much more of a palatable decision to potentially 'skip' that year.
Interesting choice for a Wildhearts song. But you canny go wrong with literally any Wildhearts song. Ginger's tour this year was grand, setlist decided by the crowd. Absolute legend
Sorry James but Gav’s pick is better for on the record. Full disclosure I’ve only recently discovered them even though at 39 I really should have earlier.
Genuinely excited by James' supergroups, especially the ATG one. Superb. Put in an application to Arts Council and make it happen for 2026!

@@alastairpitt6764 Ha! Exactly that.
Usually if I point in his direction, Bri makes sure it's his direction. :)
Cheers for tuning in.
Everlone is a great suggestion as a Gateway track for people to discover the Wildhearts. Then onto Skybabies 😊
